  1. So one my main machine that I use to work and gaming had sound issue on one video cards. Then I put USB card in it that allow me to push each usb port into the machine. The card has 4 USB port. This machine also has two GPU's on it. One the GPU is Nvidia Super 2070(EVGA) and the other GPU is AMD RX 480(XFX 8gb). So the Nvidia card once I hid the image was virtualized works wonderful. However AMD RX 480 had issue with sound dropping every once in while. So this machine has two main images. One image is the Gaming image which is connected to 2070 Super that image has never had any issue. That image was meant to be gaming image. However I was asked upscale some content from 480p to 1080. The program that use to do can use cuda to do that. As far this application trans-coding 2070 super is second fasted card in my house. My VR rig is the fastest. which runs Gigabyte 1080 Extreme ( extreme stand for water cooling). Before anyone comment I have down bunch of bench-marking and my 2070 super perform dead center any 3dmarks benchmark that I though at it. Compared to other 2070 Super, My 1080 card back in day performed top of the stack at one point it was 52 place in 3dmark timespy(It might be slight overclocked). Get back to what actually posted this for is the other image is meant for more work stuff(remoting into machine) ,browsing the web, some video content while work or do gaming. This is the image that had the sound problem. This bugged me so. Every once in while the sound would drop out the image. It usually accorded somewhere around 4-6 hours. It did not matter if was being used. So the image was actually up. This had been issue since built the machine. This machine has never natively run Windows 10. I tired lot of things to try fix it none of worked to fix. I knew that issue had be something with the video card as 2070 super never had that issue. Even when assigned the card to the image that ran image that was meant for AMD rx480. I did not want place that video card as really for work load that I was going present to it should work wonderfully. However Until Last week MSI dropped beta bios that fixed sound issues for AMD RX480. For the most part I figure my AMD RX 480 is really similar to RX 570. The bios patch fixed the issue. I guess I no longer have reason to replace that card when new graphic card get released later this year. For most part I would figured that I share this. The spec of the system I talked about in this post are CPU AMD 3950x(OC to 4.3 GHZ all core) , Mainboard MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION(10GB Lan that is support in ESXI 6.7 or better), GPU EVGA 2070 Super and XFX RX 480, RAM 64GB trident Royal DDR 3600, 2 1TB Sabrient gen 4,2 x samsung 960 evo 1tb ssd, 3 tb HDD, Usb card that support passthough,Case NXT H710,Power Supply Seasonic 800w and Cpu cooling Corsiar h115i. What I could use some help is new computer case that has better airflow then NXT h710. Temps are can get very warm when doing video process and gaming on the other card.
  2. I am glad that worked. If you feel like tinker little bit see if ram will at higher speed. It still might not ran at the xmp ram speed. I kept bumping my ram speed up each step. I also ended up add more voltage to ram to get run at 2933mhz(This could damage ram. I ran mine at 1.45v) When I did this I still had the XMP ram timing set. When I first tired to do this I did not do this and I could not machine to run stable. As the board would auto select it ram timing lower then XMP. I will add that I was using ASrock board when did this. I am not 100% some the other mainboards that this would be that easy. The Asrock board let me set timings from XMP and change ram speed.
  3. That is lot of Transistors. For what it worth the machine is running Vsphere 7. Both guest image are Windows 10. For mainboard running Msi Prestige x570 Creation, 64 GB DDR 4 3600, 2 1tb sabrient gen 4 nvme ssd, 1 tb Samsung 960 pro, and 4tb western digital green hard drive. Running Corsair 280 mm rad. The computer is driving 3 4k screens and 3 2 screens.
  4. I think it is the high core count cpu plus video cards running at loads
  5. You might what to try to run the ram at 2666mhz. Which all that cpu is rated to ran the ram at then try overclocking the cpu. IF that work see which way it runs better. I have Ryzen 1600af that was had similar issues. I back the ram back to that speed. Then cpu was overclock. Since then I managed to get ram back up to 2933 with xmp timings on ram. I had to push the voltage up on the ram. Ram ddr4 3200.
  6. I have Ryzen 3950 running all core at 4.2 ghz. I Have system in NZXT 710 case. I had to take the top of the case off to so that it can push out all the heat. I have the system underneath table on plastic line so it does suck up carpet dust. At the moment I am running video rendering on the nvidia 2070 super. Topaz AI. Up casting some old recorderings to 1080. On the other image I am running Video games and youtube. That image uses AMD rx480 8gb edition. The image was only meant for watching shows doing work stuff. So remote into machines and access web page to control them. I have the cpu at about 75% load. What I learned is that machine can push out some heat.I can feel that top of table that machine that underneath is warm to the touch. Seems very stable. Although when the new video cards get released the AMD rx480 gpu is going to get retired. No really so much problem just not use to machine pushing out so much heat.
  7. When I had my network at full power on Folding @home. I was really used lot power. Although I went from just starting to about 550 place on ltt group in about month half. Then it got warm out. Were I would had to to run the AC to stay comfortable in place. So I have turned most computers off. Expect the one machine and sometimes run the other media center computer with it. I would guess that it would be cheaper just to run your own system. I also running your own computers maxed out give me little sense pride. Since most of the system that I ran were over clocked in one way or another. I did let some of my ESXI server run with extra cpu cycles. Other then enable XMP on them they at stock settings.
  8. So it turns on the new system from Dell did not have thermal compound. Used corsair tm30. Keeping extra around.
  9. The computer is less then weekend. My next step is to replace thermal compound. Being that system is under warranty from Dell. I did call Dell support and they said they are going to have research issue. As I have not changed any bios settings. The only thing that did to windows is run updates on system. I also went to dell site made sure it the bios was fully updated.
  10. So I with Dell workstation with Xeon w-2235 and temps are getting very warm 96C( 205F) max. I got this by running prime 95 it took about 5 minutes to get to that temp. Cinebench r20 does not get it to that temp. R20 got to 85C. When I build systems myself I make sure that they can ran prime 95 and furmark for 30 minutes with out crashing or thermal throttle. Note that system does not crash and only throttle back from max CPU speed little. I have opened the side of made sure the cooler is under connected correctly. I have not taken it off.
  11. I have NXZT 710 case.(https://www.nzxt.com/products/h710i-matte-white) The one thing I don't like the case is top of the case. That is all closed off. This is really of case of system running really warm. I have amd 3950x in case with aio with 280mm raid. The system runs 2 gpu on it. The system is also running Virtualization and running 2 OS at once. One the OS I have converting 480p media to 1080. I have running though the cpu. I am to cheap to buy the program to render to gpu. The one image is attached AMD rx480 this image is what I use for generally use(work stuff, productive stuff, and web surfing). The other image is the gaming image I am using Nvidia evga 2070 Super. So I took the top of the case off and that lowered Coolant temp 15c. What could use to make new top of the case that is vented and keeps some of dust out. My first though was to use metal screen stuff you would use in a window. Any other ideas? I am not to concern with looks. As the case is below desk on plastic matt.
  12. For the price I like Electonic Wizardy idea. My thought would be for to build a something like AMD 1600AF and b450 chipset motherboard. I recently build system off Asrock b450 pro 4. That cost me $200 Although you would need to get gpu You could go Athlon on AMD gpu to have integrated gpu . I have not looked at the price but would be tempted to go I3 intel. Becuase of the integrated gpu on board. You would not need gpu and I have have had better luck with Intel gpu then AMD intergrated gpu supported in stuff OS under linux. AMD integrated gpu is faster the Intel so if you going to run paid verison of plex go AMD. Espically if you are going to run windows on the machine If you have more money I would put real raid card on go raid 5. Those can be pricey and it may be better cheaper in the long run to Electonic Wizardy idea. For the price I like Electonic Wizardy idea. 13. One the reason to consider X570 board is if you want overclock. Then generally have better Voltage management. and better cooler voltage management. X570 has gen 4 pci-e lanes. At the moment you would only get benefit of from nmve ssd. Next gen GPU will most likely be Gen 4. Although doubt that gpu would really be able to use that bandwidth. I have machine built on b450 chipset and couple on x570. The system on x570 runs at higher pbo clockspeed. That may have nothing to do with the motherboard. Both systems run x3700, One cpu may be better then the other. Although the 3700x in b450 motherboard is actually the newer cpu. Though system on x570 is Cooler Master COSMOS II 25th Anniversary Edition XL-ATX and has 240mm watercoller . That is large case. The system in with b450 motherboard is large mid tower case run hyper 212 evo for cpu cooler . At the end of day if this built for gaming ,get motherboard b450 chipset. Then put that money into better gpu.
