  1. Its a solid CPU and a good work horse. Real world experience with the setup you have should be great. It sounds like you are more than pleased so congratulations on your system amigo! I like it so far. I had a sabertooth R2.0 until an unfortunate accident with a bottle of water occurred. when doing research this mobo seems to be the bare bones version of the sabertooth so if you come across one for a good deal I would recommend it.
  2. While I appreciate your "advices" I think your missing the point (and you dont get the CPU to 4.8ghz stable without the proper settings so I think Im ok there). No one is saying you have a bad rig. All that is being stated, Because you asked "what u think about mine", is that potentially could run into a bottleneck with the CPU which I think is debatable with one 290 but definitely a possibility with a crossfire and sli setup and thats ignoring the fact that you mobo is not the best for a crossfire or sli setup(at best it can run X8,X8). As others alluded to the CPU doesn't get to dictate how many cores a piece of software utilizes. That is why you will see the 8350 romp on some and perform just admirably on others. Again the fx8350 is a damn fine processor especially for the money right now and on a good chipset can overclock like a beast. Does that mean its the best? Nope but I sure as hell like it. You asked for opinions and your going to get them so don't be so defensive and argue with everything you don't agree with. I dig the case btw My Specs: Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0 32Gb G Skill Rip jaws Fx8350 @ 4.8 (prob gonna bump it down to the 4.6 range), EK water block 2x HIS R9 290 w/ EK full cover water blocks Coolermaster V1000 PSU 2x Corsair Force SSDs in Raid 0 1x 3TB WD Green HDD 240x30mm, 120x60mm, 280x60mm, 140x80mm Alphacool Rads Fractal Define XL R2 case
  3. Hate to burst you bubble but I am running a fx8350 @4.8ghz, on a 990fx chipset, with two r9 290s and everything is under water and I am seeing evidence of what I beleive is the cpu bottle necking. The issue seems to come down to single core performance which Intel seems to have and believe me I love my AMD hardware as much as the next guy but when someone with the same cards as myself but with an i5 or i7 quad core is clocking 20 - 30fps higher than me in valley then there is most likely some bottle necking with my cpu.
  4. OK wow thanks for all the replies everyone.I'm on my phone let me try and answer some of the question the best I can at the moment. Yes both cards are in the x16 slots Cards are stock clcks Temps don't go over 45c for the cards Even with catalyst enabling xfire cpuz and hwm only show specs and on one card Both cards perform fine on there own. And a 1440 monitor is in the pipeline
  5. Hey guys, So to start here are my specs: Mobo: M5A99FX Pro R2.0 Cpu: Fx8350 @4.7 Mem: 32Gb Gskill Rip Jaws @1600 Gpu: 2 x HIS R9 290 Reference Psu: Coolermaster V1000 All is under water with a 120, 140, 240, & a 280 radiator. So here is my deal. I'm not expecting these cards to be the end all to be all but I was expecting better benchmarks than I am getting especially from what I have seen from others. The highest score I have gotten in Valley Benchmark is around 3300 to 3400 @ about 82fps on ultra 1920x1080. While its not shabby I don't think its where these cards should be performing (I was thinking in the low 4000s score wise). Is the CPU bottle necking them that badly or is something else at work here? Thanks in advance guys.
  6. Re-seated block and setup a test bench on my table. After spending considerable time working the air out and making sure water was properly circulating I fired up the computer to a nice 33C idle and 44C under full load. I expected a nice improvement but 50 degrees under load difference compared to air?! damn! With these results I am ordering another 280 rad and a cpu block. Thanks for the help fellas.
  7. Tore the block down and it seems like the it mounted ok unless I am missing something (maybe too much TIM)? I'm kind of wondering if maybe if the pump air locked possibly and wasn't moving water? I believe it was so maybe I am being paranoid. Going to remount the block and give it another go. Aludka ya the in and out are side by side and not on the same pass through (I was wondering about that too so I double checked the instructions). https://www.dropbox.com/s/2b3zz11lkf3t81a/IMAG0289.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/69xqi26vm9p9no5/IMAG0290.jpg
  8. Hey guys new to the forums here and long time watcher of LTT. I built a water loop for my r9 290 and I am having some issues. Specs: HIS R9 290 EK full cover block EK back plate Alphacool 280x60mm radiator 2x140mm Cougar Vortex Hydro Dynamic Fans Tucked in the front of a Cooler Master Haf XB Swiftech MCP350 pump Shin-Etsu TIM Ok so I got the loop up in running but the temps are way high (41C idle and skyrockets to 97C under load) which is no better than the crappy reference cooler. So there is obviously a weak link somewhere and I need to tear the loop down and figure out the problem and I am just trying to figure out where to start. I am thinking maybe the block didn't seat right so I will probably start there but I am looking for further experience/opinions of you guys as to what else could cause the problem. Thanks in advance guys!
