  1. i ended up going with the i5. I just tried both because I had a few hours spare time one weekend and after bench marking, the single core performance of the i5 was much better which seemed more important in 95% of games these days.
  2. i know this is a very old topic but i'm gonna leave a reply to help others who stumble onto this. In Terraria, if you disable frame-skip, the game should run at the refresh rate of your screen. It may speed up the physics of the game though.
  3. the board does support overclocking but not very well. It's an intel DP55KG, the amd will be on a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P
  4. the main reason its out of these 2 is because i already have the stuff lying around. My brother isn't that good for me to buy extra
  5. I'm building a PC for my brother and have a choice between 2 cpu's to put in for him. Either the AMD Phenom II X6 1100T or an intel core i5 750. He mostly plays games like CSGO, Fortnite, PUBG, Rocket League and Overwatch. I understand that the i5 is gonna be better in some cases but the 6 cores on the Phenom may be better. Which CPU should I get him and why? Edit: The CPU will be paired with a 7970 if that helps.
  6. can you tell us what overclock you have btw. that way we might more easily be able to tell if the temps are too high.
  7. You shouldn't notice any higher temperatures doing it this way. In fact, you might find it cooler at the front assuming that if you had it on the top, you'd have it in a configuration where it pulls air from the outside of the case and then your rear fain exhausts it straight away, choking the gpu completely. Two things I must add though is that in your pictures, it looks like one of your tubes has a kink which could be affecting thermals, see if you can get rid of the kink to allow more liquid to freely flow through. Also, the pumps in most AIO's work better when they are oriented with the tubes coming out of the bottom so if you can flip the radiator around so the tubes are at the bottom in your case, try it out and see if it improves temps. It shouldn't affect your gpu too much unless you've got some serious overclock. You may notice a few degrees hotter on the gpu but nothing that will cause it to thermal throttle.
  8. im no expert but if you purely want better gaming performance, then it is definitely a good card to upgrade to. It does depend on your games and resolution though. If you want a new card in this generation for ray tracing though, it's probably best to wait until we see actual real-world gaming benchmarks to make sure that ray tracing on the 2060 is as good as the video leads you to believe Edit: the 2060 does get 68 fps in bfv with medium dxr (ray tracing) settings at 1080p so if you want ray tracing at 1080p then the 2060 should be fine but you might want the 2070 for 1440p or high dxr
  9. So the $399 must have been for some of the higher end aib cards like the asus strix i guess. Still quite expensive for mid-range.
  10. I was talking about MSRP Nice deal on 960 anyways
  11. I've heard rumors that its gonna be around $349-$399 USD. You can get used GTX 1080's for $400-$450 USD nowadays so Nvidia better not charge that much. Also remember the 960? that mid-range card was only $199 USD at release.
  12. A few minutes ago, Nvidia uploaded a video on their YouTube channel, basically announcing that the RTX 2060 will definitely have ray tracing. Assuming that the video of game-play footage was actually done on a 2060 then this is looking somewhat promising. I was one of the people who thought the ray tracing feature downright wouldn't work on a 2060 and i'm also unsure if that game-play footage was really from the 2060. What do you think? Here is the link to the video:
  13. do you have a friend with identically specced memory, if so try his out, maybe you just got some faulty memory. this happens from time to time, even on new stuff from reputable brands. Just a suggestion.
  14. probably go with Ethernet then, you'll save a buck and get slightly better internet performance.
