  1. I pulled the trigger on 9700k at 420€, which is pretty good price here in Finland considering the cpu shortage. Thanks for the replies everyone.
  2. Allright now I'm actually tilting towards the i7-9700k.. I guess I should get the 8 cores when I can afford it man this is hard
  3. So I'm pretty torn which CPU to get, since they are practically the same price where I live. I'm planning on delidding if I get the 8600k, so would that make it a better choice for me, since 9600k is soldered? Are there any real advantages to 9th gen or should I just get the 8600k and use the improved headroom to OC higher? I really don't know what do here..
  4. Nah, and even if it had liquid metal on it previously it doesn't matter since the cold plate isn't aluminium. If it was it would be in ruins by now.
  5. Yeah it is, in good condition though, and even the old thermal paste wasn't really dried up.
  6. Allright, I ordered 1000, 3000 and 5000 grit paper, lets see how this goes ? Thanks for the help!
  7. So I got the inno3d 1080 ti ichill 4x card today, and noticed it was running *very* hot, like throttling at 90 C even with fans turned to eleven. I repasted it with mx4 but that only helped to some degree, the card still sits at 85 C at full load, which is quite odd considering the size of the card and the cooling solution. When I disassembled the card I noticed the cold plate was very unusual, it was kind of rough to the touch and not smooth and shiny like every other heatspreader I have seen. https://imgur.com/a/7vMWPol I was wondering if this is the cause of the bad cooling and if I should try to smooth it out somehow so it makes better contact with the gpu itself? I know for sure it's a not a case cooling issue.
