  1. I don't know. An Intel 1165g7 + a 45Wh battery won't cut it, I think. Also a 200nit TN panel is way too terrible. Probably can't even show someone by my side something on screen, and also, if any sunlight gets near it, it will be unusable.
  2. Hi all. Since this is rarelly talked about in reviews it came as a shock to me that the i5 11400H in my Asus F15 is SLOWER and MORE POWER HUNGRY than my old i7 7700HQ in a HP Omen 17. The Asus will last about 2h on a 48Wh battery while undervolted with eGPU completely disabled and on 60Hz screen. The HP will last about 3h on a 63Wh battery while NOT undervolted or with any aditional GPU config other than default. AND it will be FASTER than the 11400H at that (but still slow as hell). I actually don't need an external GPU, just good CPU performance. The performance I get from the 11400H plugged in is adequate. Anything that is as fast while on battery should be good. Budget: I'm in Brazil, but should be roughly equivalent to USD 1000 to USD 1200 Needs: 1 - Good CPU performance on battery and good battery life 2 - At least 16GB of RAM, preferably 32GB. I can upgrade later if it has slots. 3 - Not terrible keyboard, screen, build quality, since it will see a lot of travel. Wants: 1 - Good Keyboard. 2 - HDMI, RJ45, lots of ports. But will accept adapter if not possible. 3 - Good Screen. IPS with at least some 70%+ sRGB. 4 - 2 or more storage slots. 5 - USB C charging. Nopes: 1 - Macbook. Software I need can't run in paralels, has been extensively tried. 2 - TN Screen. 3 - OLED Screen (see battery life above, all OLED screen laptops I saw have absolutely shit battery life) 4 - eGPU (see battery life) Also, I would REALLY like if reviews tested performance on battery. If anyone does that, please point me into the right direction because I feel cheated that if I put my laptop on performance mode it lasts like under and hour even with eGPU completely disabled.
  3. I do not offer IT services, per se. I offer automation services, and since I am my own company I do all the other related to IT as well. It is usually nothing fancy, but Microsoft is just trying to screw me over and now I need to look for a far more complex solution. A few articles that I read said that even if you do use Rufus for installation, MS can just flip the switch on force the need of a MS account anyway. One time I have been locked out of my old Surface Pro 4 because I was far from internet for too long and it required me to log into my MS account for verification. It was absolutely infuriating and I was forced to do a few documents on an Android tablet of all things, before being able to get back online, at least I was capable of printing these documents for the client and the client was an old one that found that funny instead of unprofessional.
  4. Actually I can remote. But wouldn't the update just change any settings?
  5. Didn't quite catch that idea. Seems maybe a reasonable way, if I can find and learn everything needed to do it. But I do regret to say that 90%+ of these farms have no cellular signal. They do have radio that usually is an extention of whatever the nearest city offer and is quite bad. But I also Didn't want to have to reinstall these already deployed systems because my SCADA application was built in a platform that is windows only. I would have to also rebuild the SCADA application, and at this point it would be cheaper to just create the accounts and provide internet for them. Microsoft screwed up big time. I always used them, but now I hate them
  6. Actually already asked help in a automation specific reddit, which has given at least one option to try
  7. Sorry for being a bit slow, but I didn't understand this solution. I was asking for a way to circumvent future forcing of MS accounts and I don't understand how that helps? If you can detail further or send a link for more info, I would be very grateful.
  8. Hi all. I have a problem. Today one of operators of the farms that I make SCADA systems for called me in the morning. Apparently Windows 11 PRO had updated itself and put him on a screen to log into a MS Account. He, along 99% of all farm operators, are computer illiterate. And was, rightfully, lost on what to do. Fortunatelly it was still possible to cancel out and log in with his local account. But I feat the inevitable. MS will force itself onto these computers. And I will have to spend a huge sum of money driving thousands of Kilometers and many days updating these machines. At this time I would like to know if there is a way to block this from happening remotely. Some of these machines barely ever get connected to the internet and others have very poor connections. The simpler the way, the better. And if at all possible, a way that doesn`t need a reinstall, since that can't be done remotely. For future endeavours I will start looking into Linux based SCADA systems and will cut windows 100% off my workflow and machines forever. This move guarantees that Windows is no longer a possible OS for me to use long term. It will be just another internet based pseudoOS that I have no intention of using. I need 100% offline reliability. Thank you all for suggestions on how to solve my current problems. And if there is a SCADA engineer who has a good Linux alternative, I'm all ears as well.
  9. It is one thing to say that you chose security over freedom. The other is saying that this no option system is more free. Which is what the guy is trying to convince us of.
  10. Free, mostly open source OS with multiple vendor options is Monopoly! Only one option of OS and hardware is freedom! Man, Orwell was really a seer
  11. I was under the impression people bought the devices? If it is a lease I would be glad to see where this is stated in the contract people sign when leasing their iPhone, and the one that is handed down to subsequent owners in used market as well.
  12. https://www.macrumors.com/2020/08/28/apple-blocked-facebook-update-apple-fees/ Facebook was trying to help small business. Facebook processes the payment, Facebook takes no cut. Apple takes just because you're using an iPhone. If you do the same on Android or PC all money goes to the business owner. Now I will be educated why this is fair and Apple must take this 30% because it is their right.
  13. Americans are just so self centered. Moving out of China is survival tactics. Japan, Australia, Korea and many other countries are trying to lessen their dependency on Chinese manufacturing. If anyone thinks it is only because of Orange Man Bad, then you're not paying attention to the world post covid
  14. Well, either way you prove that, opposite to Apple, you can use the hardware. You can watch a BD movie that was not bought through PS store. Netflix doesn't pay 30% of their subscription to Sony. Either way you slice it apple is monopolistic and the others are not.
  15. Harder. Phones are general computacional devices with many purposes. Videogames are videogames.
