  1. Does it rain donuts in the magical land you live in? I somehow think a law that only is about hampering one company isn't going to pass muster for the various constitutions it would need to. Beyond that, do you think the biggest (or one of the?) companies in the world will just sit around and lit itself be bullied...and by the EU? They can squash things with PR, and that's not even getting into the dirtier tactics they could use....hell, they could just buy Greece and rename it AppleTopia and take a seat at the table. You think the US is going to let the EU hold ransom from one of our major companies? And g-d help us..putting technological development in the hands of bureaucrats...
  2. has anyone else noticed that the age of videos seems to be not showing up in a lot of search views? Like, it's there on the video itself, but not a results or big index window? I'm not sure if I'm imaginging it or if it's something that's happening.
  3. it shouldn't be doing that. possibly as @flindeberg suggests you've either set it to not remembering your creditionals..or it's just not doing that. With everything set up correctly, after you've entered your mail account info (smtp servers, etc). It just works, with no needing for constant password entry. (I'll check this thread later.. it's 3:45m and my troubleshooting brain is quite offline now).
  4. @rikitikitaviwould be a mongoose, not a meerkat. (Though the picture does remind me of russian speaking meerkats that brits may be familiar with). @RejZoRyou should know by now to just not engage moose in these threads. Here's the hint...he rails against corporations with an avatar owned by Warners, shown by Disney, and was used to shill Coca-Cola. And, I don't believe this has to be explained to anyone who's old enough to turn on a computer...NO COMPANY CARES ABOUT YOU! Not Apple, Not Samsung, not Sony, not LG, not whatever laptop company Linus has invested in, not LMG or Floatplane or Sears or 7-11 or Manscape or those wallet guys or the people who make those weird shoes. NONE OF THEM!
  5. Is a "fab" a single machine that spits out a batch of chips? or is it a bunch of machines doing bunches?
  6. I've been researching 15 the past few days, trying to decide if I and my parents should update. We all haven't yet for the same reason the vast majority of people haven't... 14 is working just fine, so why rock the boat. As far as I can tell, the problems 15 has is the same problems every update has. Some people have bad performance, some people have poor battery life after..Nothing wide spread or systemic...just the very usual updates cause problems for some individuals. (I have seen a higher number of issues for people with the SE v2, which is why I have, so I decided to wait til the next 15 version due in a week or two to see how that is before pulling the trigger). (There's also people who seem to be on a "I'm afraid ios 15 will label me a child pornographer" bandwagon but that's a topic for another thread)
  7. I think the problem with looking at EA or Ubisoft in general is that they operate their own crappy DRM-stores and that therefor creates a lot of legacy maintenance for someone to acquire them. With stuff like that, basic software infrastructure, Apple (in the entirely improbable world where they bought one of them) would just do a "link your apple ID to your account to transfer over all your games to the App Store" then get rid of them. Given they already have stores for Windows etc for movies/music, be simple to have a section for games that they keep on other platforms. Of course, Apple could just buy Atari and do an amazing Pitfall and Yar's Revenge revival.
  8. I also speculated, wondered about Apple's play in all of this. I see your point about Nintendo, but I think it's too much "hardware" for Apple to want to deal with. They wouldn't trash Nintendo's exisiting stuff, but it doesn't lend itself to the eco-system, and it's IP feels like a gross miss-match for Apple. I think, of companies you mentioned, Ubisoft could be a good fit, though. It's got a more.. "mature" "prestige" feel to it, especially with the AC titles...and I can that especially being a ripe IP for exploiting in like big budget Apple TV + series.
  9. I swear, this forum is like a toddler who hears a word and that just repeats it all the time.
  10. I'm a bit surprised Apple hasn't grabbed someone with some good name, but not high value IP for some Apple Arcade content and to kind of be a flag barer for M1 gaming. (and to cut off "Apple doesn't care about games"...Apple cares about money, and there's lots of money in game space)
  11. Well, sometimes Tim Cook finds a few billion in the couch cushions and just goes shopping. They've been trying for a bit. They own or owned the IP for both Crimson Skies and Shadowrun and were trying to get movies on them, but nothing came together...of course they have the Halo show coming, and if it's a hit, then there will be more interest in game ip.
  12. And Disney bought Lucas (Star Wars), Marvel, and Pixar all together for less than 10 billion.
  13. I realized I have no idea what this version of Firefox I'm running is, but it's not having a problem... (this is a macbook pro that's on OS 10.11.6 so I guess whatever this is is what works on what I got)
  14. A criminal will use a hammer to smash a window or break a bone. We do not judge tools by how criminals misuse them. Someone does not decide to stalk a person or track a car because they have an airtag. They don't decide to not do it because they don't have one.
  15. Because @Zodiark1593 has potentially 5 hours of tracking data to find their $2500 equipment vs having no data whatsoever. Yeah, I see how they're dumb.
  16. it's cute you think people who want to track you need an apple device to do it. Criminals are gonna criminal. All air tags add to the world is to everyday people access to tech to find their lost bags or dogs.
  17. Disney payed way less than that for Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar COMBINED.
  18. I do this kind of thing on my Mac, but suggestions I have: Adobe Bridge ... I don't know if you have it..or if they even make it anymore, but it's a brilliant file organizer via tags etc....they never hype/hyped it, but it was better than their commerical options iTunes ... yes, for PC. I wouldn't use it as a player.. and it might not work if your files are like mkv's... but it works very well for organizing a library via how you want. for tagging, MP3Tag is a windows program and it's very nice....can work on video files, but can be slow. EDIT: Reading thru again, looks like you're more wanting a better library option than just windows explorer, which is what I was more aiming at with my selections as easy ways to set that up. Perhaps setting up a Plex server on your machine would be the choice, then use VLC to access that? EDIT 2: did a quick google to see for software options, found an article that basicly agreed with me https://www.makeuseof.com/best-media-libraries-windows-10/ IT talks about VLC has a basic function and how to use it, iTunes being good, but limited, and Plex
  19. won't happen. Putting asside the logistical dificultiy of changing the plug standard for the US (and Canada and Mexico? unsure if it's all North America) given how many years they've been in use and the countless numbers of sockets and plugs....people won't do it... look at the trouble chaning from incandecent to CFL's or LED bulbs, and those use existing form factors.
  20. Yes..we have bad plugs in the US (and canada?) 0) (coicindentaly, first comment on the video is from the afformentioned Electroboom.)
