Interesting. I just tried running the one from the link I provided earlier and got the same error message. Never actually downloaded it from HP directly before. I just tried this version from download.com and it works, as long as you run it as admin: http://download.cnet.com/HP-USB-Disk-Storage-Format-Tool/3000-2094_4-10974082.html

Its in the levels settings for the headset. I'm at work and don't have it installed here so I can't follow along. If you cant find it, google "Logitech gaming software sidetone" and I am sure that you will find pictures and guides.

pwn_intended got a reaction from J.b091 in Best GPU match for an i5 6500
Depends on how keen your eyes are. In a blind taste test you may not be able to notice, but side by side you likely would. The 1070 is just a better option because it will stay relevant for slightly longer than the 1060. 1060 is still a good choice, but I am a strong believer that you should always get the best GPU that your budget allows.

It will likely be fine, but getting an unlocked i7 on an h97 board makes me want to cry a little.

pwn_intended got a reaction from HyperDrive in Does USB vs PCIE wifi adapter make any difference?
Protocol overhead. Instead of the NIC (network interface card) talking directly with the CPU through the PCIE lanes, it has to go through the USB controller first. The only reason I mention this is because when using a thunderbolt to ethernet adapter on my MacBook air, my speedtests aren't as high as they are on my desktop. This may not actually be an issue in your case, but it is something that I thought i'd share.

If the problem is the actual power connectors from the card, EVGA makes a product called the power link, here is a video jays2cents made about it:
If that doesn't solve the problem, then I'm out of ideas besides soldering etc. Wouldn't recommend that but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do.

SOME games are 64 bit but most are still 32. Almost NO applications are 64-bit only.

pwn_intended got a reaction from Mike87 in Possible to fresh install Windows 10 without knowing your key?
The key is tied to your CPU+MOBO. When you re-install windows on it (even if you got a totally new HDD) it will just automatically activate. You will never need to put in a product key.

Remember, this is as long as that computer ALREADY had win10 activated on it.

I'm talking about RAW transfer speed. Not necessarily the overall feel of the computer.

Totally agree on the SATA SSD recommendation. I would also definitely recommend on going with a "standard" SATA drive, not an m.2 one. Might as well keep the slot open for an NVMe for down the road.

You do not need to install 7 and upgrade. You can just download the media creation tool from MS directly and install 10 straight without putting 7 on there.

Doing a clean install is always recommended when switching to SSD. Not just the optimization stuff but its also a good time to clean out unnecessary stuff and start fresh.

If you own movies on DVD or Blu-ray you can just rip them.

In Canada, RIPPING discs that you OWN physically is LEGAL. However, if the disc has copy protection on it, and you are required to remove a digital lock, then this is considered illegal.
Borrowing from the library and ripping is most definitely illegal.

To those saying streaming for free isn't illegal, it most definitely is. The issue is that they are unlikely to go after YOU personally, but it is still definitely not legal.

I can guarantee you that they do not know what they are talking about, or misunderstood you.

The software Kody is totally legal because you can use it like you would VLC or any other video playback software. The second you start STREAMING COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL, you are doing something illegal.

As stated before though, generally, for streaming, the copyright holder is going to go after the streaming site and not the end user. But still definitely 100% illegal.

If you are still playing all the games you want to just fine, then don't upgrade yet.
Wait and see what AMD brings, and then in turn what intel will bring after that.

When you do end up upgrading, I would recommend at looking at something with 8 threads (i7) instead of an i5 because core count is finally beginning to matter for gaming, and I am sure that it will start becoming even more important over the next while.

Correction, you've seen them POSTED for $700 on ebay. Anyone paying that money for a (now ancient) x79 board has lost it.

Now if you have a busted PCIe slot on it, I wopuldnt expect to sell that for more than like $75. MAYBE like $300 for the CPU+MOBO combo.

Looks like a nice little upgrade to me. Keep in mind that you will likely need to update the BIOS on any H110/Z170 boards in order to be able to use the new Kaby Lake CPUs.

Not saying that the company itself is malevolent, but hacks and shit happen, and the fewer companies are trusted with your passwords, the better.

pwn_intended got a reaction from Princess Luna in Personal Rant/Vent on CoD IW
I was a huge fan of the cod franchise. MW1, BO, MW2, BO2, and then MW3 is where it started losing me.
I bought ghosts, and hated the multiplayer. The campaign wasn't all that engaging either so I never finished it. Never got AW or IW since the whole mech warrior thing wasn't what I wanted out of a COD game.
I always used to play the campaign fully through before touching the multiplayer, but the newer titles (pretty much anything after BO2) made me totally not want to play the game. The only part of the cod games I still enjoy is doing some splitscreen zombies with friends.
