Mortenrb reacted to AcidBurn98 in Madison reveals experiences working at LMG
I made this account to make this one post. I am frankly ashamed of the things I have read in this thread. I read every single message sans the ones already removed.

The reason why us women don't come out about our abusers is because of people like the ones attacking Madison. It's okay to say that you want to hear both sides and wait for more info. It's not okay to:

    1. Call her lazy when you know nothing about her field of work nor what she dealt with daily
    2. Call her crazy, as if her having a mental crisis means she can't be sexually assaulted
    3. Say that being forced to look at nudes and sexual comments about her from strangers on an only fans account is just part of the job
    4. Say that she needed to report it in a manor YOU think is right in a time period YOU want her to (especially since you don't know if she did report it and was ignored by the law)
    5. Expect her to provide receipts of verbal and physical assault that she doesn't have access to and if any exist are on a hard drive at LMG (I am sure linus will release them trust him)
    6. Look through every appearance of her online and scrutinize every second of it to feel justified in your hatred of her.
    7. say she never should have been hired in the first place as if the solution to sexual assault is to just not hire women at all.

I was sexually assaulted at my work place but never came forward because the company could ruin me. I did try to go through the law in America, and was told since an official dated email didn't exist outlining the person that touched me and harassed me, and the HR claims "disappeared", they could do nothing unless I dropped everything I own to pay a lawyer. Does this make me any less of a victim hell no.

To the men defending women in the comments, and directly counter acting the misinformation about Madison, thank you. You understand what it means to be an ally. Women actually trust men like you and enjoy your company. Just wanted to shout you all out because on every page of this disgusting thread there was at least one ally sticking up for women like Madison.

My final message to all the incels and degens that will no doubt mock me for this post. The world is thankfully changing for the better with this new generation. This frat boy culture stuff is on the out. So laugh and degrade women while you can, but we will not be trampled on and beat down anymore. The future is going to be painful for every single one of you.

@LinusTech I've been watching forever. OG Floatplane sub when it was driven from the forum. I've managed multi-million dollar projects with many, many employees. I've never posted here prior. I can tell you, with absolutely certainty, that this is a crisis and that you are responding to it poorly. (with both the quoted post and all of the others prior)

Ideally, your crisis response would be:
Make an effort to understand the issue - both from the initial report and from the community resonance. Quickly acknowledge that you've seen the issue, understand how important that it is, and will be responding very soon. Take time to craft your message and select the broadest medium for response. Eliminate emotions. Get others to participate. Apologize. Take responsibility. Make it clear that your taking steps to swiftly improve. Detail these steps. Invest in ways to correct the situation and monitor their impact so that issues don't reoccur.
So far, there appears to be a limited understanding of the root of the issue, and denial about the breadth and depth of the impact. To be clear:
There is an issue with factual accuracy in LMG videos. There is a situational consistency issue with LMG videos. There is a conflict of interest issue with LMG videos. There is a clear issue with how you all impacted the manufacturer of an LMG video subject product. Beyond that, the response has been taking issue with the messenger (Steve at GN), general statements about how improvement is needed, attempted assertation that the impact to the video subject has been addressed, clearly emotional reasoning, promises of a future Labs solutions, and ignoring/rejecting the most common, community suggested path to correcting the situation (slowing down, taking time to get it right). I don't think that it's a stretch to stay many people would find these infuriating at worst and a nothing-burger at best.

I'm asking -- begging -- please stop, analyze, bring in others, and respond again -- correctly this time. Apologize. Take responsibility. Make it clear that your taking steps to swiftly improve. Do the damn thing and follow up on it.

Less Travis Kalanick. Less Deepwater Horizon.
More of what the best version of Linus would do.

In the most recent video Double your FPS for FREE!\*\*\* - Nvidia DLSS 3.0, there is an ad spot for a company called Mine.

Mine requires access to your entire email history, which is uploaded to their servers, so that they can go through each email to find services you signed up for.

Aside from actually providing Mine with more sensitive data in emails than the data other companies hold of you:
Several links are broken on the website linking to their privacy policy. They say the service is free on their site, but there are reviews of people saying things are paywalled after you give them your email history.
A third party requesting access to your emails should never be trusted. Not only have you likely shared sensitive and personal information with friends/family, but these services like Mine can send emails on your behalf. They now have the ability to reset your password for any site. I'm not saying Mine does this, but they and similar services certainly have the ability to. Which is why you should never authorize access to your emails.

By using Mine's services you are giving up more personal data than you are reclaiming with them.

I am assuming you are pretty fresh with programming, since this is a pretty easily searchable question (one of the first results when I search 'Linux source code')

Check out OSdev wiki. You honestly are not going to gain much insight into how to develop an os from looking at the linux kernel unless you are already very very knowledgeable about the topic.

I also suggest reading Modern Operating Systems.

Learn about real/protected mode. How the boot sector works, interrogating the BIOS, VGA text mode. Learn ASM for your target architecture. Cross compiling (you will need to build C for your target arch.)

There is a few months of solid work if you are serious about OS architecture before you get to the point of looking up other operating system sources for reference material.

There's a couple of flaws in your plan.
The idea is good, but your ISP might have terms that disallow such activity on a private plan, and on a business plan you might get other limitations, such as bandwidth limitation and a higher monthly cost. (plus, probably insane fees if you use more than your allocated bandwidth)
A shared host often also has protections, such as DDOS protection, backups in the case of faulty hardware, uptime guarantee.
As others has stated, you also have the cost of electricity, hardware maintenance, software maintenance.

In the long run, a shared host or even a low-tier VPS from DigitalOcean or Linode might fit your needs perfectly. (easy to setup multiple websites with let's encrypt on a single VPS, and some shared webhosting solutions allows multiple domains on a single account)
Also, multiple IP's to one domain is a okay technique for redundancy, but it doesn't actually check whether or not the IP is offline, and thus clients might connect through the service that is offline. (check Round-robin DNS)

Just read your last reply: Zoho has a solution for a custom domain, for free.

In my personal opinion, the Grid is one of the most overused elements in WPF.

You can build this with 6 StackPanels, which will make it easier to add, remove, or change the game elements, and virtually not change in any way your ability or means to control the relative sizes of components.

Here's a graphic to help visualize this.

As a tip for building a layout this way, docking the stackpanels to simple window locations is useful, and so are the horizontal and vertical alignment properties available on the StackPanel element.

    I have to, partly, disagree.
An average user wouldn't note much difference using Mac OS, Windows nor Linux, as all they will use is the office package and internet browser.. and if those are easily available, that's basically all there is to it.
If a computer comes pre-installed with Linux, the average user would just login and start browsing the web without diving any further.

The issue is if you wish to to other stuff with it, such as gaming, video/photo editing or mostly everything "above average" computer stuff on your PC, and don't like hacking around your system. Plus, not all industry-standard tools are available in Linux.
If you, however, are tech savvy and actually spend some time with Linux, you'll eventually figure out that a lot of stuff is easier or more convenient to do in Linux.

E.g. as a developer, I find Linux tools a lot more powerful and a lot easier to work with, than competing tools on Mac OS and Windows.
However, if it's your first time developing something, then it might be an easier route to start out with Mac OS and Windows.

To answer you title; it depends.
For the majority of people, Linux just isn't worth it, just yet.

I prefer Linux over Windows and Mac OS for many tasks, but I also enjoy spending time to solve challenges I might get when doing stupid s**t I never should've.
But again, most people just want to open the laptop/tablet/desktop/phone and start using it, and while distrobutions might be at that stage right now, it still requires the user to actually install it, which is a barrier most people won't pass.

In the future, more computers might come pre-installed with some distrobution that just works out of the box, and that might be the actual rise of Linux on the desktop.

About all the stuff you listed, well, enough people already answered why those statements/issues are false or misleading, so I won't bother with it.
