  1. I have a B450 pro gaming carbon iirc. Im sure thats its full name, lol. Guess ill put upgrading on back burner if my CPU will just bottleneck it. I play a lot of BR games like PUBG, DayZ, EFT etc and my setup just doesnt really cut it, i have to play those games with settings toned all way down and even at that point im still only getting barely acceptable FPS in games which isnt nice when the drops happen and game become sluggish and stuttery. I played HZD recently and the FPS dips were annoying, had to drop a lot of settings to low. Id like to play games like that with the settings higher so i can appreciate the world building. 1070ti seems to not be good enough to rock 1440p with good settings and still get high frames (very frustrating because when i bought the rig i was assured that 1070ti was good enough for 1440p, from personal experience thats bs). Will have to think about what to do going forward, upgrade certain hardware, get a new rig altogether or just leave it a couple years and accept low frames with low settings in the newest games that release. Or perhaps just downgrade monitor to a 1080p instead of a 1440p one which should yield some more frames. Its probably a lot to do with the 1440p monitor. My setup would handle 1080p a lot easier, ofcourse. I wanted to future proof myself with a monitor hahah but in hindsight i wish id just stuck with 1080p for time being. Couldnt afford a 1080ti at the time, wish i couldve stretched for it.
  2. Want to upgrade my GPU which is currently an MSI GTX 1070ti Gaming 8GB. Had it a few years now and its starting to struggle to run the newest games with decent settings. Im not sure what would be worth the money when it comes to upgrading it though, GPU prices are very high and the performance increase from card to card can often not be worth the investment. What cards could i consider being worth moving to, from a 1070ti. Budget isnt an issue really but im not looking to upgrade to the latest 2090 or whatever that costs a grand and half, ill consider anything up to £1000. If i do upgrade then i will not need the 1070ti anymore, any ideas on how much a second hand 1070ti would go for atm. Edit: I have a Ryzen 5 2600x atm and run a 1440p monitor (1070ti struggles to make the most of this). Thanks.
  3. Wouldnt say its a no brainer as there are various 2070 cards and their prices vary wildly. I also have no experience so i have no idea which is the better card. Hence why im trying to find some guidance on here. There has also been a lot of negative discussion regarding the 2070. Must be a reason for certain 2070s being so cheap compared to the strix 2070 or the Aorus extreme. Both of those cards are nearly £200 more than the ventus or armour despite them all being 2070s. Makes me suspicious of those cheaper models.
  4. Im not american and im not looking for cheaper 1070 ti alternatives. Feels like theres always one person that goes off topic. I was asking about the 4 cards i linked in the OP.
  5. The 3 2070s i posted are more or less same price as msi 1070ti gaming, nobody has said anything about the quality of those particular cards though. Not sure if theyre of a lower quality hence the pricing compared to teh rog strix 2070 which is nearly £200 more.
  6. I was going to buy this https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-GTX-1070-Ti-G... But for same price i could also get https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N2070WF3-8GC#... https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-RTX-2070-ARMO... https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-RTX-2070-VENT... Theyre all within £10 of each other. From what i can see the 2070 is better. I havent researched these particular models though. The fact that they seem much cheaper than others raises question marks for me. What do you all think i should go with? Im still leaning towards the 1070 ti because i have no doubts about its quality. Ill be using the card with a Ryzen 2600x
  7. I will be using a 2600x, a 1070 ti, 16gb of RAM and a B450 tomahawk mobo. I cannot decide on RAM. I read some people have had issues with RAM compatability and XMP issues with the B450 Tomahawk. Im considering some B die GSkill but the price is so steep in the UK and stock at my supplier is restricted to TridentZ 3200 C:14 (fancy expensive RGB) and TridentZ 3000 C14. They have some other TridentZ 3000 and 3200 that are C:15 or C:16 but i do not think they are B die. They dont have any flarex in stock or id consider those. From what i can tell if i buy any of their other RAM its not going to be Bdie and thus no better than a Corsair alternative. How much importance does this really have? I want to make the most out of XFR/POB and XMP stuff so im trying to buy the correct hardware before hand. Its difficult though because im a newb, a lot of info is dated and im unsure how significant Bdie RAM will be to my computers gaming performance. Ive been considering some lpx vengeance stuff thats 3000 C:15, the smaller nature should help me fit it under my noctua cooler which is a bonus. Its CMK16GX4M2B3000C15W which im sure isnt B die, however someone i spoke to said they were running it with their 2600x and it was working fine. This could just be good luck on their part though right? Im quite confused at the moment, this RAM issue is the last thing preventing the build being built. Cant decide what to do for fear of making a mistake. Also concerned about paying a huge premium for B die and getting little to no benefit from it as im not an expert and have no experience overclocking at all, i just want to turn the auto stuff on and let it do its thing, ideally. Sorry for the wall of text. Thinking out loud and hoping someone with experience can give me clarity. Im not sure what to do and dont want to spend £100+ more for RAM that i may not need or wont benefit enough from.
  8. From my supplier that lpx vengeance RAM would save me £104 over the GSkill stuff. Only reason i picked the GSkill is because its definitely Bdie 3200mhz and id read a lot about Ryzen performing much better with high speed RAM, especially Samsung Bdie and 3200+. Not sure the crazy price is justifiable though. And not sure how important it really is. Ive seen some evidence though that it can give a significant boost to performance. Id like this system to perform well for a number of years, dont want to upgrade for some time so i considered spending extra now to prolong the potential performance. The PC will be used for gaming so every year that goes by the performance is going to drop as games get more advanced. Id rather get cheaper Bdie but they dont have any in stock (no surprises there). Thanks for the replies, been a real help.
  9. I was looking at the AM4 version of the NH-D15, its a little expensive but they dont have the dark rock pro 4 in stock so i might go with this Noctua. However it does state that because its a dual fan that it only has space for 32mm RAM or smaller, my GSkill is 40+mm so will i have trouble there? It says the Noctua can be moved upward to accommodate taller RAM as long as the case has the room which the phantek enthoo pro m does. Will that have a negative effect on cooling if i have the cooler right above my RAM sticks? Sorry if this sounds nooby, i am a newb haha. Im just trying to figure it out before i order something that may not be ideal. Do you run low profile RAM in your setup? Did you have any issues with the Noctua and the size of your RAM etc? Any other coolers you could recommend that are around the performance levels of this Noctua or the Dark Rock?
  10. Hmm. A little vague. What brand, what latency, what speed do you actually get?The price diff between the 3000 and 3200 gskill is minimal anyways, think im just gonna buy it and hope the other half does not see the invoice
  11. It was the only Bdie RAM that the supplier im using has in stock sadly, i dont care for the RGB, that just happens to be there. Spent a while looking at their stock and the only other GSkill they have is CAS 14 3000mhz, sure i read somewhere that Ryzen might not play nice with 3000.
  12. I know right, utterly gross. I felt like i was being bent over with no lube. But the RAM should be good for Ryzen so its a long term investment. Still gross though.
  13. Thanks for the detailed reply, very helpful. Id read somewhere that temps above 60 were relevant, i was reading a lot of people stating temps like 70-80 with stock Wraith cooler which sounds terrible if the auto OC stuff doesnt like temps over 60. That was the main reason that led me to thinking i need a better cpu cooler. So as i suspected, after market cooler is probably a necessity.
