I admit, a bit of a strange thing to want to do. I have a 3 monitor setup but I can't see the left side of the leftmost monitor that I mostly use for discord because of a chunky microphone arm. Long term there is probably a better solution to this problem than disabling a piece of my monitor, but since it's fast and easy that's my temporary solution. I disabled scaling and applied a custom resolution and now have black bars on left and right side of the monitor. I would like to then offset the image to the right so that I don't have to waste monitor space on the right side where there is no arm in the way of the screen. Any help is appreciated! (No, there are no settings on my monitor OSD for this)

Hi, my girlfriend needs a laptop this autumn for studying (she doesn't a lot of performance, ram or storage). The top priority is high screen brightness for use in sunlight(around 400-600nits?). A decent keyboard and future-proof performance come next. I personally find choosing a laptop a living nightmare and was wondering if someone had chugged through the internet in search of something similar recently. It should ideally be 10'000NOK at most, which should (kind of) translate to ~1000EUR. Thanks in advance for any help!

I have some audio issues on my Motorola moto g8 power. The volume is basically always very low, low like it would be in a call. After a few minutes of video playback the audio suddenly goes to normal volume, and 5-10 seconds after that the video is auto-paused. When I resume the video the audio is low again. First noticed the problem with headphones, where they would occasionally go silent, somehow "disconnect" and pause(even though the headphones were still connected), and then it would play on built in speakers when the video started again. Reconnecting headphones worked, but only temporarily. I couldn't find anyone else with these issues. Any help is appreciated!

3DMARK timespy: score: 10337 grphics score: 10734 CPU score: 8550 CPU temps hovered around 50-55C in the first part of the test, before rising going between 50-70 degrees and maxing at 83 during CPU test. GPU was 55-76C the whole time, generally rising.

Do people usually reapply thermal paste? and only CPU? cause I really don't want to open my GPU. (I will launch and run 3Dmark while looking at temps)

So over the past few weeks/months my PC seems to have been crashing more often than it used to, however nothing so bad I did anything other than update drivers. Many of these crashes have been just freezing and not responding. The only thing I could do was hold the power button. Today, however, my PC froze once, and than twice over crashed in a way I have never seen before. The video signal was lost(screen went instantly black), the fans spun up to full speed, and even holding the power button did nothing whatsoever. I ended up just turning off my power supply. I'm starting to get worried, so I decided not to turn on my PC again before I've heard if anyone has seen this behavior before. The crashes seem to happen at random times; sometimes when running heavy games, light games, or just browsing. I have however been mining with the nicehash quickminer for maybe 2-3 weeks now. I mine 24/7 except for when gaming. I have a 2080 and a ryzen 7 2700x, in a P400s with the stock front panel with no airflow. I also only use the 2 stock fans for case cooling(replacements delayed by COVID ), so I suspect thermals and airflow are not great, however I'm not completely sure. Both of the mysterious "blackscreen" crashes happened after I started playing Liftoff(drone-sim), the most recent game I got. Also, the last of the "blackscreens" was while I was using bluestacks, which I just downloaded. I can't think of any hardware additions that happened within this timeframe. I have no idea why this would be happening, and I'm becoming worried for my PC. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Do they? I assume it differs from drone to drone but I couldn't find a specific search term of spec that could easily seperate them. I Have an oculus quest and was thinking it would be pretty cool to get an fpv drone, but I imagine it won't be that immersive if it's just a 2D image with no depth stuck to your face. Also I saw this video: and was thinking of going for either the $300 or $400 mark. Solid recommendation? (I live in Norway if that makes a difference). Any help appreciated!

That's expensive IMO, not really looking to pay anything for this particular use case- 5 replies

Looking to have some software always running that will record discord and my own mic and save the last 30 seconds with the push of a shortcut key. I've tried OBS, but from what I can see it only outputs video files and I don't want that. Searching for audio clipping programs only results in complaints about the audio clipping, so... Any help appreciated!

Problem stated in title. When it opens, it instantly minimizes, and if I maximize it, same thing happens. If I launch without fullscreen, it's completely fine... until I turn on fullscreen. Anyone I could find either had a slightly different problem with it minizing every once in a while, or threads from 5 years ago with people using windows 7. Any help is appreciated!

Ok, I formatted and removed every partition from the drive, reinstalled CentOS, redownloaded the server but did everything according to this guide instead: https://www.spinup.com/setting-up-a-minecraft-server-on-centos-8/. Everything now works great! Thanks a lot to @Eigenvektor & @Master Disaster for all the help. Edit: I realized afterwards that may have sounded sarcastic, that was truly not the intention. I have however run into a small issue: I cannot for the life of me prevent the machine from sleeping when I close the lid. I have changed pretty much every setting related to the lid in "/etc/systemd/logind.conf" to "ignore". I have also run this command: "systemctl restart systemd-logind", which asks for authorization and then turns my blinking underscore-cursor red. It does not help however. Edit: solution turned out to be uncommenting the lines in the .conf file by removing the #.

Ok, new day and for some reason things have changed. After restarting the laptop(now server I guess) I opened screen and attempted to run the server using the following command: java Xmx4G Xms4G -jar server.jar nogui This resulted in the following output: Picked up _JAVA_OPTIONS: -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true Error: Could not find or load main class Xmx4G Edit: Oops, typo(- before Xmx and Xms). Server now running, but I still can't connect to it.

Checked ports? no clue. the command you suggested return 3 text chunks; Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT 20026 packets, 40M bytes) pkts vytes target prot opt in out source same thing repeats 2 times, except with: ... FORWARD ... 0 ... 0 & ... OUTPUT ... 5039 ... 395K I've tried the solution person with firewall issues was suggested, that is when i get the error message.
