I think that's the frame pacing, there are enough frames that it averages out to 60fps, but they come at inconsistent times making it feel bad

I'm sorry that it feels like GN just dropped the whole world on your head. I'm sure most of us fans understand your commitment to integrity and will still love you despite this. I really do think your heart is in the right place.

While I understand preferring Steve to handle this privately, I can understand why he went public. Even in this response, you don't address his chief complaint: pushing out videos too fast to reasonably expect your employees to get everything right. Even your employees seem to be begging for more breathing room to do their jobs. I understand corrections happen, but yeah, you would have a lot less corrections if you spent the extra time to make sure the testing was ironclad. I would really love to hear you address this.

I don't think Steve did any of this in bad faith (or at least I hope not), but he felt as if the "corrections" are happening more and more frequently and to larger degrees and he's trying to push LTT/LMG to be better.

Made an account to make this post. Honestly, the entire defense about inaccuracies seems to boil down to "we're not perfect", which frankly isn't good enough for a company that was offered to be bought out for a hundred million dollars.

Also I think not having a big WAN show segment on this is a big error.  This is the value of WAN.  It's your weekly connection with your people.

Own it, accept it, and deal with it live on air.  If you are real, you will know with your merch dashboard.

Personally, I'd bring on Steve from GN and go over it.  Not point by point, but have a friendly discussion.  Talk about the challenges, and what you are doing about it.

When Apple does something, everybody says "triilion dollar company", but Apple does not have a trillion dolars cash, it is valued at 2.81 trillion, same as LMG was valued at 100M by somebody wanting to buy it. This is what that means.

And you could say LMG is just careless if not for Canada Day WAN show, when Linus admitted he preferes $500 savings to having a video that is factually correct and not dumping on a startup with f'd up pseudo-test.

Thanks for the quick response as always but I'm not sure that the message of the video is fully explained here (I hope you didn't just read the comments, jk :D)

What I would really like to know is why data driven content doesn't get the time to add the seemingly required polish given it's a pain point raised by many of the LMG Team and are there any plans to address this from a production standpoint?

You shouldn't have accepted the review if you weren't going to at least commit to doing it right. If you weren't comfortable with the expense of doing it right, then you should have declined.

First of all, the whole Billet Labs stuff is completely absurd if true. I don't think they would intentionally sell something they couldn't, probably some massive fuck up in communications happened between the team responsible for sending it back and the people choosing the items to be auctioned, but it's still a huge issue and 100% LTT's responsibility to fix it and make sure something like this never ever happens again.

About the rushed content, it's something that a lot of times crosses the border of "fun jank" to being just frustrating. Every single project they do seems to be rushed, unfinished, untested and plagued with issues and oversights. And that could be their content "brand", seems like many people enjoy the jank. But if they now want to present themselves as serious testers, someone the community can look up for reliable data with Labs, that mindset needs to change, FAST. How the hell can I trust someone who has to correct themselves almost every video? And makes errors that a basic review of the content could catch?

You need to pump out 7 videos a week? Sure buddy, but maybe allow more time sensitive projects to be properly planned, executed and reviewed and throw some "here's 10 fun crap we found on aliexpress" videos to make up for it.

FezBoy reacted to Thaldor in Ummm, Is Colton still a part of LMG or not?
    That depends.
Colton is placed in LMG building with Linus, Linus may at any moment fire Colton and no one can tell when. Only way to know has Colton been fired is to look at the staff page at LMG website but until you look it up he is neither.

This is why we call him Schrödinger's Colton, he is both hired and fired at the same time and at this point we are too curious about this situation that we don't care to find out whether or not Colton is actually fired.

FezBoy reacted to Spotty in Will there be a ROG rig reboot this year 2023
I believe the videos required a lot to set up and organise but the videos just weren't performing well. The 2021 ROG Rig Reboot videos only have 1.1 to 1.6M views after over a year which is lower than most of the regular videos they do. Most of the videos uploaded in the past week have better view counts and they've only been up a few days.

Personally I think the concept just got a little stale after the first couple. There's only so many times you can watch people be guided through a PC build. I think the people who want ROG Rig Reboot are mostly just interested in the opportunity to win, with not as many people interested in actually watching the videos of other people winning a free PC. Whenever there's a post asking about ROG Rig Reboot it's always "Is there going to be ROG Rig Reboot? I want to win a free PC". I never see people saying "Is there going to be ROG Rig Reboot? I really enjoyed watching Linus build PCs with random people".

FezBoy reacted to Erfsh in GitHub Private Key is Leaked
    Summary
GitHub published their RSA SSH host private key by "mistake."  It was leaked today (24th March) "around 02:30 UTC" in a repository, but they have replaced their SSH private key since approximately 05:00 UTC. They claim nobody could use this to access their infrastructure or user data, but the have updated the key to protect the users from "impersonation" and "eavesdropping" attack.

From github.blog at https://github.blog/2023-03-23-we-updated-our-rsa-ssh-host-key/ you can read:
    My thoughts
I don't think that it had any serious impact on any user, unless it was leaked for more than what they stated. Then the attackers could target a certain user or more for eavesdropping on potentially private repository data exchange. Surely we can't tell for now until someones private codes are leaked somewhere else and it turned out an attacker was capturing and reading their data transfer.

FezBoy reacted to AGooseChaser in EXPOSED Master Thread: LTT Store is going to release their own legendary screwdriver, possibly in partnership with MegaPro
Bros get ready, the LTT screwdriver is coming. You've all probably seen the prototype but this is the master thread on everything about it.

Linus has been trying to keep this a secret, but thankfully he's bad that. Several hours of 5head investigation has revealed everything.

As you may know, Linus' legendary orange screwdriver (Snap-On Ratcheting) that he used for 10+ years broke in April. He said in the $800 budget build,

Linus said in a LTT forum reply over a year ago in August that it's only a "Matter of time" till a LTT screwdriver comes out. So here's the proof that it's happening now:

In the $500 AMD build stream in June, he used a prototype. When the screwdriver fell apart in his hand, he mumbled
In the tiny AMD build stream in July he commented
So chances are, we're getting a LTT screwdriver.

They are gonna hype it up a lot. Linus even said he is spending over a hundred thousand dollars for the ultimate release. Comments from the July 10th Wan Show:

Upon some 5head investigation though, I found that LTT may be doing a partnership with MegaPro

If you looking closely at the prototype     that Linus used multiple times, it's a MegaPro Automotive Ratcheting Screwdriver, except with their own custom enclosure. The prototype Linus used seems to have a 3D printed handle, but the ratchet, bit storage, and shaft are exactly the same.
A partnership with MegaPro? Hopefully, because the screwdriver itself is really high quality model and a best seller.

Pricing: Very high end ratcheting screwdrivers sell at between $40 and $70. The Snap-On that Linus used to use sells for $71.
The MegaPro Automotive, that LTT may rebrand, sells for $40. So with Linus' team getting a cut, I speculate that they will sell it for like $50-$70.

If anyone on the LTT staff reads this, please make sure the LTT handle is as high quality and durable as the original MegaPro handle.
And please make it very recognizable, like all bright orange to make the higher cost worth it.

    It is easy to determine

The quest 1 has a resolution of 1400*1600 per eye so in total 2800*3200 that's a little bit higher than 4K

and on top of that you need the GPU to be able to render at least at 75Hz at that resolution (cuz that's about the refreshrate of quest 1)

So you need to see at game benchmarks and see which GPUs can play 4K at above ~85ish average FPS .

BUT VR games are a lot less demanding than AAA 3D games set on high/ultra which is usually what the benchmarks are going to be set at so I suggest to look for a 2kliksphilip video on youtube testing out 4K with weaker settings cause I am sure he is going to have such things cause he is beautifully weird like that.

Now me without being a VR player so without having tested out GPUs for that just as a gut feeling would say that with a nvidia 2070 or even  better an amd 6800 xt and above you should be fine, but there could be some weaker GPUs that still could run (again since the games on VR are less demanding than the AAA 3d games) just fine maybe a Vega 64 would be the bottom line if not that then a gtx 1080
