  1. thanks guys, It looks like it was the PSU, I swapped it and it is all good now. thanks heaps guys!.. The ram modules was a good tip , otherwise the system would have not post. I did the paper clip test I found on google if you guys want to see it i made a video in here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/DUC8tV7je73rE7Ww5
  2. Thanks mate!, will try tonight as I will borrow a PSU from work.
  3. Hello there! Any ideas what could be wrong? My FreeNAS PC does not want to start. Please see video link below. I removed the ram modules, PCI card and hard drives, but still the same issue. I recently swapped the cpu, it worked for about a month and now it stopped working. I put the original CPU back but still no luck. To me it is either the motherboard or PSU. how can I tell? Thank you in advance. Video Link
  4. HI All, I am stuck with the ISP modem/roter and I want to use a second router wtih VPN capabilities, but I cannot get the OpenVPN server to work. Please do not suggest to put the first router as bridge as I have tried and it is not possible. This is My Network configuration so far: Modem Router 1: Telstra Netgear V7610. Gets Internet signal from a phone line (ADSL?) It has 2 VOIP phone lines for the office. Fix WAN IP XX.XXX.XX.XX DHCP: ON DHCP Range: 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.200 LAN IP: 192.168.0.1 DMZ Server on: 192.168.0.3 Port forward 22523 to Router 2 on 192.168.0.3 Router 2 Asus RT AC88U Connected to modem 1 on LAN port 1 to LAN port 1 on Asus. Assigned LAN IP as 192.168.0.3 DHCP server OFF OpenVPN server ON with port UDN 22523. My question now: 1.With DMZ pointing to the Asus Router do I need to connect the ASUS router using its WAN port? 2.Do I need to setup WAN IP address of asus as our Public IP address? or the Local IP of the V7610? 3.Since the Azus Router is in the DMZ now, Do I still need to do port forwarding port 22523 to Asus router? 192.168.0.3? or maybe this is causing an issue and I need to delete this port fwd from V7610 table? I can connect to the open VPN server if I am in the local network. but id does not work if I am offsite (My phone hotspot). I'd appreciate any help.
  5. So, if not and nvme, what is that setting on my bios about? which pci-e device I can boot from then?
  6. Hi all, I have an asus Z87 Pro motherboard and I was wondering if I colud get an nvme to pci-e adaptor to boot from an m.2 nvme drive. I've read that boot prom PCI-e devices is only supported from z97 chipsets onwards, however I was looking at the ducumentation on my mobo and it says this: Does it means I can boot from an m.2 nvme ssd?
  7. Not a big deal, just wondering if some one else has seen this. I would turn them around but for instance the "<" will show ">". thanks guys.
  8. Hi, I've just bougth this keyboard and I have noticed the colon - semi colon and quotes key are upside down. i.e single quote is at the top of the key and double quote is at the bottom of the key. Just wondering if it is just me or something across the board. I also saw some google images with the same issue. All the best.
  9. G.Skill responded my email saying the modules might be defective. I Should send them back and I will get new ones.
  10. Thank you guys. i updated my bios but still no luck. I sent an email to g.skill, they adviced also to update my bios. It looks like it is a hardware problem. StainlessSR, How can i set JDEC#3?
  11. Yes your are right. It is just that I want to find out if there is something wrong with my system. Or if g.skill has lied to me saying this module run sat 1600 Mhz. Or if it is a faulty module.
  12. Thanks Volbet, I installed CPU-Z but it also reports 666.5 MHz. (1333). I manually selected DDR3 1600 MHz in bios and set the timers to 9-9-9-24-2N, reboot and an error comes up saying Overclock settings are wrong. So I had to go back to XMP enable. I could not see the timings written on th side of the stick. Is there any other way to make sure I put the right ones?
  13. Good Morning, I bought this set of 2 x 4GB DDR3 ram for my build.G.Skill Sniper F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR2. It works fine, however I cannot set it up to run at 1600 MHz. This is my build: Mobo : Asus H97i-Plus CPU: Intel Pentium anniversary edition G3258 Ram : G.Skill Sniper F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR2 PSU : Fractal Design Fractal Design Integra M 550W Case : SilverStone Sugo Series SG13 Black Mini ITX Case Coolling : Stock Storage : Kingston SSD Now 300V 240 GB OS : Windows 8.1 @64 bit. As per documentation, this should run at 1600 MHz. However it is running at 1333. This Is what I ‘ve done: Went into Bios and set XMP to Profile 1. It displays DDR3 1333 9-9-9-24. I can see it runs at 1333 using Speccy software. Went into Bios, disable XMP and manually selected DDR3 1600MHz. all remaining settings as Auto. The Bios displays Ram targeted speed : 1600. The PC boots into windows but speccy and Asus AI3 keep saying it is running at 1333. G.Skill website says it is compatible with my mobo. Does anyone know how to make it run at 1600 MHz or perhaps there is something wrong with the modules? Regards, Mario.
  14. Thanks guys for the replies. I think i will go for the APU with 8 gb of ram just in case. Perhaps I could use the spare memory for a ram disk and install steam in there. What do you think?
  15. Hi all, Can anyone recommend a minimum budget build for a pc that will only be used as a client pc for steam in home streaming? I mean the cheapest possible build. Linus showed a steam machine with a core i5 and a gtx 650. Wouldn't that be an overkill? All the best.
