  1. I have been following the battle between AMD and Intel for about a year, and I've noticed that AMD processors tend to be more for workstation PCs while Intel processors tend to lean more towards gaming. I would like to know what makes something like the Ryzen 7 2700x worse in gaming than the Core I9 9900k, as I don't have enough knowledge about the two to see much of a difference that would affect performance
  2. Hi, I managed to get my hands on a core I5-3470 and 4x2GB sticks of ram, adding up to 8GB, I was wondering if there was a good budget motherboard I could get to help with the build I am wanting to do with these parts, Thank you!
  3. my laptop is a Lenovo L420, I can just unscrew the bottom and the CPU cooler is really easy to remove as well as the CPU being a PGA socket. And I am working on a desktop rig at the moment. I just would like to up the power of my laptop a bit.
  4. Hello, I have a Laptop that i would like to upgrade, it currently has a Core I3 2310M CPU, I was wondering if I could upgrade it to a Core I7 2630QM, I checked and they seem to both have the Sandy Bridge architecture, would I have to upgrade the cooling, use a better thermal paste, or would any other problems arise?
  5. it doesn't really throw any error codes, the only code i have seen is one where you have to manually partition the drive on diskpart and that didn't work, so i may try just doing that. if it doesn't work i have another ssd on the way, so its more of an inconvenience if it doesn't work.
  6. Hello, i am having trouble with an SSD that I was given from a friend who said that it just "stopped working". I can get the SSD to work in my laptops hard drive caddy so I can access the files and whatnot, so I formatted it and then proceeded to put it in the main hard drive slot of my laptop to see if I can reinstall windows, it said that windows could not be installed, as it just listed the drive with unallocated space, i tried to create a partition primary in diskpart after cleaning the drive, which it just said it couldn't find the files specified. I then tried to partition it on windows after reinstalling it in the hard drive and then proceeded to put it in the main compartment again, with still no luck. Any chance anyone could help me on this? Thank you!
  7. Thank you for letting me know, I'll just stick with my original plan then.
  8. Hello, I was looking into storage devices for a PC I am planning on building, I am currently planning to have a 240 GB SSD and a 1 TB HDD, but then I heard about hybrid drives and was wondering if they were any good. Thank you!
  9. I took some suggestions from the thread and changed LinusTechTipsFanFromDarlo's Build to include only an SSD until i get a 1 TB hard drive to add on to it PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant Type Item Price CPU AMD - Ryzen 3 2200G 3.5 GHz Quad-Core Processor $93.99 @ SuperBiiz Motherboard Gigabyte - B450M DS3H Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard $73.98 @ Newegg Memory G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR4-2666 Memory $59.99 @ Newegg Storage Kingston - A400 240 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive $36.99 @ Newegg Case Thermaltake - Versa H15 MicroATX Mid Tower Case $36.08 @ Walmart Power Supply EVGA - BQ 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply $39.99 @ B&H Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total (before mail-in rebates) $361.02 Mail-in rebates -$20.00 Total $341.02 Generated by PCPartPicker 2018-12-26 14:26 EST-0500
