  1. CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 3100 MB: MSI B550M PRO-VHD Wifi Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 3600 SSD: Corsair Force MP510 240GB (Windows is installed on this) HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB PSU: EVGA BQ 500W GPU: ASUS STRIX GTX 960 (secondhand) OS: Windows 10 64 bit Issues started after first boot when the computer was restarting on its own before I could start Windows install from a flash drive but I got it working after changing the BIOS mode to UEFI. After this the installation went off without a hitch and I was able to use the computer, install programs, copy over files etc for 12 hours before it randomly restarted on me when I was changing keyboard shortcuts in opencanvas. Since then it'll restart anywhere from a couple moments after the Windows logon screen comes up to like 10 minutes after starting up. There's no integrated graphics but I tried running the computer with the GPU removed for a while to see if it'd be ok. It doesn't make any obvious noise when restarting and the fans don't even stop so the plan was to check the event logs from the time I had the computer on with the GPU out. There was nothing logged in the event viewer during that time once I checked though, like the computer had just been turned off the whole time. (I did turn off Windows account password so it wouldn't require any input). I've triple checked all connections, everything's definitely secure. I attempted to restart the PC multiple times, but the issues persisted. The fans are running fine, the computer is plugged directly into the wall, the tower has a lot of space around it for ventilation and isn't on the floor. I've tried running it with just one RAM stick, and then with the other, both times restarting persisted and the RAM came back fine after memory testing. I tried replacing the GPU (MSI GTX 1650 Super), computer worked for about an hour before it started restarting. Unhooked the HDD, restarting persisted. Unhooked SSD and attempted to install Windows on HDD, restarting persisted before install could get started (BIOS mode is still UEFI). Updating the BIOS didn't resolve the issue. Right now I'm in the process of trying to replace the power supply to see if that fixes the issue, but I was wondering if anyone had any input on the problems I've been having and if I may have missed something.
  2. Hello, I am looking for input regarding my options for upgrading my current processor (an i5-3550) to something more powerful. I'm looking to play modern AAA video games at medium-high settings (or higher) at 60 fps on a single monitor at 1080p. My current specs are: Windows 10 64 bit home edition ASRock z77 extreme4 (BIOS updated to 2.90) Intel i5-3550 with ZALMAN CNPS8900 cooler Ballistix Sport 16GB (8GBx2) DDR3 1600 MSI Radeon RX 580 8G V1 8GB (driver version updated to 19.1.1) SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 ST1000DM005/HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB SeaSonic S12II 520 Bronze 520W My current build sees the performance I want in some games, but it hits a bottleneck in CPU intensive games such as Hitman 2. Following advice given by the forum, i'm looking into getting a i7-3770k (in addition to an SSD) but I wanted to make sure this is a reasonable option moving forward and make sure there aren't any others I may be missing. I can provide any further information if needed.
  3. 5 bullet point list suggested in the sticky: Hello. I am looking for input on my current pc builds performance and whether or not I should upgrade some parts of it. I want to be able to play modern AAA games on medium to high settings at a stable 60 fps 1080p single monitor, but my current build struggles to obtain 60 fps with certain games even at low settings (usually games with large open worlds such as Assassin's Creed Odyssey, ARMA 3, and Hitman 2) and I'm concerned about my ability to run upcoming titles such as Devil May Cry 5. My current build is: Windows 10 64 bit home edition ASRock z77 extreme4 (BIOS updated to 2.90) Intel i5-3550 with ZALMAN CNPS8900 cooler Ballistix Sport 16GB (8GBx2) DDR3 1600 MSI Radeon RX 580 8G V1 8GB (driver version updated to 19.1.1) SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 ST1000DM005/HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB SeaSonic S12II 520 Bronze 520W I'm under the impression that my processor may be the bottleneck here (especially in the case of Hitman 2, where it fails to meet the minimum requirements), but I'm not sure if it's related to something else. I followed the basic suggestions for troubleshooting recommended by the forum, and reinstalled Windows and updated the BIOS. This helped performance noticeably (roughly +10 fps across a number of different games), but it still fails to meet the 60 fps target in some cases. My question is, where do I go from here? Is there a potential system problem and I should keep troubleshooting? Or should I look at upgrading my processor to something oc-able like a second hand i5-3570k? Do I just need to bite the bullet and upgrade my ram/mobo/processor? Or is there another potential issue I'm missing completely? I can provide further information if required/wanted.
  4. The most recent beta update for the board is from May last year (Version 3.00). Should I still stick with the non-beta update?
  5. I have been troubleshooting my pc due to having some unusual performance issues with some games, and have been following the advice given in the pinned "read first" post in the troubleshooting part of the forum. Following this I am planning on updating my motherboard BIOS, but when checking the available BIOS updates they're split into two categories (beta and non-beta). What BIOS update should I use? I can provide further information if required, I just want to check before moving forward since I know that BIOS updates can potentially brick the motherboard.
