  1. OMG the world is going to spin off its axis now... Oh brother, nothing else to get all hot and bothered about?
  2. No updating the MB, that's the whole reason you got a&d in the first place; so you could plop a new chip down in that dusty old board.
  3. If I had the time, I would be addicted to video games; but right now I'm addicted to work
  4. Make sure you're using the correct size phillips bit and then dab some valve grinding compound on the screw and gently rotate the screwdriver back and forth a few times to work the compound in to the slots. Then slowly try and unscrew, if it starts to slip then you'll have to try an easy-out or just drill the head of the screw off and use pliers to unscrew what's left.
  5. Unfortunately, legislation isn't the answer, government is not an efficient method to fix technical issues.
  6. Huawei's 5G solution isn't innovative just cheap, so someone who isn't Huawei will make this sale. How exactly will this come back to 'haunt' Trump? I understand your dislike of the US, our politicians abuse their power as all did before the current sitting president.
  7. I'd say the the thumb drive is borked. It is drawing too much power and the the MB USB chip is protecting itself and the system by temporarily taking itself offline when it senses the overload.
  8. Research, research and research. When I was going to school is when I became dependent on the internet/computer.
  9. Do you have a different power supply you can try?
  10. You can access the datasheet here: https://artsdocbox.com/Television/72589664-Displays-touch-screens.html
  11. Maybe the answer lies here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-other_settings/windows-10-only-use-half-of-max-cpu-speed/d97b219f-10ee-4a42-a0fc-d517c1b60be8?auth=1 Another possibility is that the cooling system is not operating properly(at all?) does it seem excessively hot?
  12. Maybe there's a bios update to fully utilize the CPU? I have a 7700hq and it's doing 2.6 GHz of its 3.6 just sitting here idle(running cpuz) Definitely seems to be a configuration or hardware anomaly.
  13. That's strange. now I have to go to windows and see what mine says.
  14. There should be a performance option where Longevity for my poor laptop is.
  15. Get CPUZ and run the benchmark. I'm pretty sure it will ramp up from there.
  16. It'll throttle if the cpu/gpu gets above the mfg's limits. I have basically the same laptop, and the fans spin up if I turn it on and think about using it; been like that for a year and a half now. I put some new paste on the gets hot parts about 2 months ago. Knocking on wood every day. Good luck!
  17. I did a lot of looking (found your post on Tom's, nice ppl there eh?) I'm betting it is on the CPU die for temperature stability reasons. I'm still looking though. In the old days (486/early pentium) cpuz used to report this info. PS. That case fan... ICK! LOL
  18. If there's no identifiable seam for you to pry apart, you'll have to take a knife and start hacking at the plastic/potting material until you get to the wires. Been there done that. Good Luck!
  19. Best bet would be to buy a new connector and find or make a diagram of the current pinout. Most OEM d-sub 9 pins are potted, which makes them messy to deal with.
