  1. Let me fix that for you.. He actually recommends it for overclocking a 2700X.. Maybe more research next time?
  2. I think 3600MHz will be the sweet spot this time around. Not many benchmarks but here's one.
  3. https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-zen-2-memory-performance-scaling-benchmark/
  4. NVM. couldn't tell which PC was yours.
  5. The Ryzen 3600 (non X) is a great choice. Now pair that with the B450 Tomahawk/Pro Carbon or maybe higher end X470 and you're golden! I also suggest at least 3200+MHz RAM.
  6. The Strix-E actually looks like a decent board but for that price you might as well just grab the Crosshair Hero.. I personally can't decide between the MEG ACE and the Hero.. Last time I went through like 4 or 5 X470 and 1 B450 boards before I was happy lol. I'm not trying to do that this time lol. My current Crosshair VII is very nice and so I'm afraid to try the MSI, but the MSI has 3 NVMe slots and I now have 2 1tb SX8200 Pros so a 3rd might come in handy down the road..
  7. I use the fast one with zero issues. I set the voltage as low as I can and stress test it to ensure stability. I don't really like to run mine over 1.4v but I think a little higher might be okay.
  8. I would go used. I've bought quite a few things used with zero issues (RX 580, 1080 Ti, 2080 and my Radeon VII). It all depends on the price and the brand of the card. Used products in my current rig with zero issues: X470 Crosshair VII Ryzen 2600 Radeon VII 3600c16 Trident ZRGB 1000w Seasonic Prime Ultra Titanium No regrets. Good luck!
  9. Don't wait. There's 0 reason to wait. I understand people waiting for Zen 2 and Navi, but I see no other reason to wait after AMD releases everything along with Nvidias "super" cards. Buy now!
  10. I'm not trying to push AMD.. Just simply trying to say RT shouldn't be a deciding factor when buying a new card.. Good point.. Guess it just depends on the person and their needs..
  11. I wouldn't choose a 2060 just because of Ray Tracing.
  12. Only if you want RTX. I prefer AMD cards because I like their settings/overlay features a lot more. If two cards perform similar in the games/tasks you play/perform, then I say just get the cheaper one or the one you like more.. Ray Tracing, at this moment in time, or on current gen cards, should not be a deciding factor.. I doubt Nvidia is just going to one day release drivers that allow all 2000 series cards to play at over 60FPS with RT enabled.. I just don't see it.. Therefore, pointless..
  13. Should have lead with that lol.. I'd try to grab a Corsair RMx or Bitfenix Whisper like mentioned above.
  14. I love my Seasonic Prime Ultra Titanium as it's super quiet and the fan never kicks on in ECO mode.. I wanted good efficiency and the quietest unit and this is where I landed after lots of reviews/research.. If I didn't grab this unit I would have probably went Corsair or Be Quiet.
  15. Cooler Master SL600M seems to be a really nice one, not sure if you've seen it or not..
  16. Same here. I have the 2600 right now and I'll be grabbing a 3800X/3900X (maybe 3700X depending on benchmarks).. I can't wait lol.. I know I'll probably feel no difference but I really don't care, AMD is making history and I love it!
  17. Just to throw this out there, I love my Radeon VII on liquid way more than the 1080 ti and 2x 2080s that I tried before it.. AMD = Winning!
  18. I would drop the CPU cooler and get a better case, but that's just me.. Or grab a 1TB NVMe instead of the 500GB.. Stock cooler should be just fine and includes RGB (necessary for peak performance).
  19. Whichever is cheaper.. They are both great boards and should hold up for 3rd gen. I personally used the Gaming 7 previously and I liked it a lot.. The Taichi, from what I hear is just as good so its honestly up to you.. The VRMs are top notch on both of them so don't listen to anyone telling you one is better than the other, they will both be fine in this regard, for your use case anyway..
  20. The B450 Pro Carbon is better than practically all the cheaper X470 boards anyway.. The Crosshair VII is the best X470 board you can get that includes the BIOS Flashback without a CPU. You can also consider buying used on r/hardwareswap like I do, and there I'm sure you can buy one that's already been updated.
  21. I would just get whatever is cheaper, if it's between the 2060 and Vega 56.. I didn't see anyone mention the 2060, and the Vega 56 is a better buy. If you're complaining about heat and thermals then you either haven't used one, had a crappy blower or don't know what you're talking about. The internet is full of people that's had great success with their Vega cards.. I mean just look at the reviews. Of course they may use more power and push out a little more heat, but like I said before, a little tinkering will get you a great card.. and don't even get me started on power play tables.. That's 100% subjective. My guess is when RT actually becomes relevant, the 20** series will be irrelevant. I like my Liquid Cooled Radeon VII WAY (means a lot) more than I did both of my 2080s (2) and 1080 TI Aorus Extreme.. I get just as good performance, too. And with driver updates, I'm sure the VII will pull ahead eventually, like the Vega 64 did the 1080. Also, l rather have 16GB HBM2 than Ray Tracing in the 2000 series cards.
  22. I would honestly go Vega, like mentioned above. But do not get a Gigabyte model, they are notorious for having issues.. Some work great but I've seen so many reviews/posts from people having problems with them, to the point I can't recommend one, even if it's discounted more than similar cards.. But I would still go Vega/AMD as I love their cards. I've have a Vega 56 and Vega 64 and I enjoyed both of them so much that I sold my 2080 FTW3 for the Radeon VII. I personally think their software is a lot better experience than Nvidias offerings.. Just be aware some AMD cards require tinkering to get it running at its fullest potential, but once you get that figured out, I think it's a no brainer..
  23. Thanks a lot, I'll search for some guides.. Just didn't want to miss anything lol.
  24. I don't need the preformance increase. I'd like to not have to deal with multiple drives in Windows, which is my sole reason for considering this.. What do you mean by its not really worth it? Is it too much work to accomplish RAID 0 successfully? Is there another way to achieve what I'm trying to do?
  25. I wish lol. I paid $189 for my first one I think.. I was debating buying one of the cheaper Phison 12 NVMes when I noticed the one I had was on sale.. I just don't think you can beat that.. High end for the same price as an SSD, couldn't pass it up..
