  1. Anyone that runs into this thread looking for info.. I recieved my Massdrop Vast 35 today and I love it so far!!! No BLB at all as far as I can tell.. Runs super great but get's a little hot (not a biggie).. Color looks just as good as my 4K Acer VA panel, but I'm not an expert.. For $400 or less I don't think you can beat it, honestly.. The only other one at a similar price at the time of me writing this is I believe the Acer ED7 and I'm sure that one's just as good so toss a coin, but I don't think you can really go wrong with the Massdrop (just be aware some people do have issues, and sometimes it takes time for problems to occur). I will update here if something does occur over time.
  2. I figured.. Mine runs a little over 4.2 I think when stock.. I tried PBO, Asus's preformance enhancer and a few other tricks and no matter what I tried I just was not getting those multi core scores OR single core scores (ya even boosting over 4.3) lol.
  3. I leave it disabled but I haven't tested this exact setting back and forth to know if there's an advantage or not.. By default your CPU runs at 4.3 all cores? Must be nice. It's just for informational purposes. From what I keep seeing, not many people can.. And from the research I've done these scores are better than average..
  4. It's running at 3000MHz. Multiply 1500x2 = 3000. DDR = DOUBLE data rate. Choose XMP/DCOP in BIOS and you should be fine. Use CPU-Z to see more accurately.
  5. Just figured I would throw some benches out there for the 3700X in case anyone is interested.. JUST FOR FUN ? I'm able to overclock mine to 4.3GHz at 1.32-1.34v. I have not tried going lower on the voltage, yet. It appears memory overclocking also helps with a few benchmarks as well. I've enjoyed this new CPU a lot since my Ryzen 2600! There's quite a bit of new features and settings to explore in the BIOS for anyone that likes tweaking.. I'm not sure if BIOS updates will help with optimizing anything or allowing us further overclocks but I have not been able to OC past 4.3GHz whatsoever.. I have tried Ryzen Master but that's like a foreign language to me, I try overclocking different cores like I saw on Reddit but it just didn't help, some cores would run at the set frequency and the others would remain around 3.6GHz so I just gave up on that. Here is the max 4.3GHz OC with 3600 15-15-15-15-35 1T. 1T I believe really helped a lot with this score, I was able to change it manually in my Heros BIOS under Advanced>AMD Overclocking>DDR Overclocking. For Reference, this is Geekbenches average benchmarks for this CPU. This is 9900K Geekbench scores.. Here's one with 3200MHz 16-16-16-16-38. Here is bone stock.. https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/13964545 https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/13964414 https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/13964575
  6. Your cases USB adapter isn't a 90 degree? Mine is, I wonder if there's enough room for it because I'm seriously considering the Phantom Gaming X lol.
  7. You really can't use the USB C header with a GPU? I read that somewhere else and I was thinking about changing mine out for the Phantom Gaming X.. But it's in the same exact location as their almost the same board..
  8. You should be able to change the SOC, just look around the BIOS. I've never used Asrock so I'm not familiar with it but you should definitely have the option.
  9. I guess I had a $50 coupon at Drop that automatically applied.. I didn't see that until I tried to reproduce the price lol. I think for $351 it should be a vent monitor, a lot of people were happy paying the original $550 for it. I've just had my eyes on the ED7 for a while now as it's another good budget option.. I have an Acer 4K and I love it so I wouldn't expect to bad of a monitor from them.. With Drop, I feel I'm taking a straight gamble but I saw that low price and I just had to buy it lol.
  10. Refer to YouTube please. Here's one that I just found but there's quite a few. It's super simple once you figure it out.
  11. Also try using Ryzen RAM calculator and enter your timings manually.. Has helped me in the past AND you will get better performance anyway..
  12. Is this a decent display? Anyone have it? It's $351 right now so I just went ahead and bought it.. The Acer ED7 is $399 on Newegg right now.. Did I make the right choice? Drop gives you 2 hours to cancel the order so any advice or tips would be great!
  13. Good luck with it boosting that high.. I've seen nothing but posts/reviews about these new CPUs barely being able to hit their max boost frequency more than a split second here and there.. It looks like AMD gave the CPUs a max boost frequency of what it can hit on one thread for a fraction of a second. Could just be early release troubles but I see quite a few problems at the moment..
  14. Both boards will perform similarly.. I got the Crosshair VIII Hero but I'm actually selling it on r/hardwareswap.. Its a great board but I think I'm gonna grab a different one just because of the aesthetics.. Optimem III is just marketing jargon, the Gigabyte will overclock your RAM just as well.. I personally like the design of the Hero over the Master.. Get the one with the feature set you like the most. Look where the USB headers are and take into account the location of everything else.. I couldn't get a board with the USB 3.0 header at the bottom as my 360mm radiator is in the way.. For the Phantom Gaming X, Master, MEG ACE and the Hero, it only comes down to what you want or need.. They will all perform about the same..
  15. Newegg is out of stock of my model but they have the 3200 c14 and is $6 cheaper.. They're not the same kits? Is 3600 c16 better binned? I only bought the kit I have because ryzen likes speed. I had the 3200c14 flarex before but I wasn't into overclocking like I am now.. What's a safe frequency I should test my kit at that the 3200c14 kit should run at? I don't want to go below 3466MHz for Zen 2. I gained a lot of performance with my 3700X from testing 2400 to 3600MHz. R20 went from line 4700 to 5100 pts.
  16. I should be fine right? The 3200c14 is a little easier to find and a little cheaper..
  17. I have 3600 c16 Trident Z RGB (f4-3600c16q-16gtzr) currently with my Ryzen build. Can I run the 3200 c14 b die version at the same frequency and timings without any penalties? Thanks for the help! @nick name
  18. I have to agree about the motherboard.. That board is plain stupid.. Its the same exact board as the Hero, except with a waterblock on the VRMs, that you don't even need.. If someone actually spends $300 extra for that board, I just have to question their common sense.. Get the Hero and get a regular waterblock. I have a custom loop as well with the VIII Hero.. All the super high end boards ($700) are a joke and the only one I would get is the Aorus Xtreme. You are not getting any extra performance from a $700 board.. Even the MEG ACE, Master and Hero are questionable choices..
  19. No one knows the future.. The best GPUs don't even saturate PCIe 3 yet so unless you need insane amounts of bandwidth for storage then I don't think there's a reason to buy 4th gen for "future proofing." By time you need PCIe 4 for anything other than storage, chances are you'll be upgrading more than just the motherboard anyway.. I don't see a point in paying $100+ for it.. A cheaper X570 would be a good idea.. At least that's my thoughts..
  20. They're saying you don't need PCIe 4.. If you don't have a particular use case for it then you won't benefit from the additional costs incurred on X570.. I upgraded to the C8H myself and don't really care for it, honestly.. I thought it might have an edge with performance but it doesn't.. Wish I got the Phantom Gaming X instead.. Still might get it but I'm not sure yet.. Just get a good X470 of you're looking to save money..
  21. Get the Ryzen 3600, change B450 to Tomahawk, upgrade RAM to a minimum of 3200MHz and get the 5700XT over the 2070.. And throw an SSD in there, that's extremely important for any workload..
  22. Check out the pre-installation steps in the PDF, that is in the zip file from my first link. It practically walks you through it.. You need to go to SATA config under Advanced tab in BIOS and change ACH to RAID and a couple other things.. It's all there in that PDF, I just used the Video I linked so I understood where everything was located..
  23. Ya no, you have to create the Array before Windows installation.. I'm not sure what I clicked or did honestly, I just followed the video and PDF I linked above.. Don't follow it word for word, I just took what I needed from it and figured it out myself.. It was my first time so I can't recall lol. I initialized the disks. I created an array. I had to go to SATA Configuration and put into RAID mode as well and change a few other settings.. The directions are all there, those are the only two pieces that helped me so use them! I've only done it once so I'm unable to help you any further.. You need to just skip through all the junk and get the info you need if you don't want to watch the entire video.. Wish I could help more but I promise you the information I just provided should get you into windows with a RAID 0 setup, assuming it's similar to my boards BIOS.. Good luck!
  24. Guess I can try to help.. I just did it for the first time on my X570, not even an hour ago (still testing things).. You need this. This needs to be loaded on a USB drive so you can load it up when installing Windows. No special format or anything.. That is found here on AMDs website. Inside the Zip you will find a PDF. Read and follow that. That PDF with this video is ALL I used to get my 2 1TB drives to become a 2TB array ? Tip, you need to enable Raid mode, in BIOS, first and then save and close BIOS, reopen BIOS and then you'll see the RaidExpert at the bottom of I think the Advanced tab. I played around with it to get it to work but doing this will delete all of your data. You need initialize the disks and create an array. If you want Windows on the array you need to load the drivers (from zip that I first linked) when you go to install Windows using this button:
