  1. Video is out on FP. Watching it right now. Terren speaks first so that's good. It'll take a few mins for me to go through but I'll be back with my thoughts.
  2. Hello, I need a monitor with a headphone jack in built, USB support (ideally type C), or speakers (or all of them if possible). My price range is anywhere around US$150 (can buy used, I don't mind). I need to use it with my laptop so nothing fancy needed, however, above 60 Hz is preferred as is 1440p. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Some extra info: I live in Ottawa, ON, Canada so if you have found something on the used market here or on Canadian retailers (CA$200), that would be greatly appreciated too. If you find something that fits my requirements but not my budget, that would be greatly appreciated too as I'd like to look into what I might expect to pay with such requirements brand new in the future as this is not an urgent purchase.
  3. I wish there was a graph at the end of everyone trying the distances out to show where everyone tends to prefer to sit. Otherwise, good video
  4. This is a bit out there and most likely won't happen given who the topic of discussion of this post is, BUT I would like to see Linus talk to CGP Grey about how they began their YouTube career since both of them were business driven, not "passion" driven.
  5. Yeah, that's probably the best for most people on this forum. Most people however, don't seem to care and just want something to kill time with while they're getting their Starbucks or for their kids to play on the family iPad.
  6. The issue here is that I know for a fact that Apple doesn't treat all developers the same. I have a friend whose app was not allowed for any updates because it had references to the coronavirus. The "reference" they are talking about here is a situation that has been in his game since 2016 (iirc) and it says that there's a global virus outbreak. What do you do? Apple has been screwing over developers for years because they know that they're the only ones that sell to iOS users.
  7. I do think that this is overall a good thing for developers everywhere regardless of what the reason for doing this is. Tim Epic obviously just wanted to reduce the cut that they are charged but Tim Apple (obviously) doesn't want to do that. This is a great PR move for Tim Epic as well though since now people are associating them with this case more than anything (at least in the tech community, and tbf all they have to care about is how we see them). Unless Apple pulls a McDonald's and makes everyone believe that Epic was at fault (somehow), it's a win for Epic and the way Apple has been screwed over by the US Government, I do think this is an almost guaranteed win for Tim Epic. Although if I am wrong, I will gladly eat my words.
  8. Usually you are allowed to bypass it, however the Play Store doesn't allow the bypass for games specifically.
  9. Go with my first reply then
  10. Yeah, but OP asked for TN vs IPS and I was just responding to that. Good point to be brought up though.
  11. I went from a regular mouse to a trackball mouse. Gaming is absolute garbage on it (although I have gotten used to it). Other than that, I am happy with it. Went from a generic "gaming" mouse from 2013 to a Logitech M570.
  12. Depends on your budget tbh. If you're going to be exclusively gaming, there's no reason to not go with TN except for HDR content. If your budget isn't high enough for HDR stuff anyways, it really doesn't matter. Just go with the TN. HOWEVER If you will be consuming content on your monitor or will ever have to create content, I would strongly recommend you to go with an IPS. Even some budget IPS panels are pretty good at this point. Another thing to add is that with an IPS panel, you will have way more flexibility in the future on how you use it. BUT If you have an essentially limitless budget, go with a high quality HDR monitor with high refresh rate support.
  13. That is true. It still feels odd to me that Linus never publicly discussed this. I would like to know what information was brought to life that made him change his view.
  14. I was going through the LTT backlog and I noticed that Linus in this video mentions that the price difference between USB Type C and Micro USB is $0.15. However, in this WAN Show topic, when defending his position on not "going in on" a headphone manufacturer for using Micro USB, he mentions that it is much more expensive to implement USB Type C compared to Micro USB. I'm confused by his position on this and would like to know how he actually feels about this and what is the truth.
