VxZ got a reaction from oldSock in Is it Luxury ?
Personally, I think the word "Luxury" is very Subjective

For some, An expansive sports car is a luxury. to some others, Having any form of a car rather than a cycle is a luxury (especially on 3rd world country), and for me, (If I work) Being able to go the bathroom while in work is a luxury

Please keep discussion relevant to the topic and constructive. All these off-topic posts and casual chit chat posts will make it harder for others to follow the thread and find answers to their questions, which will likely result in the same questions being asked multiple times. This is not Discord.

Please do not post multiple posts in a row. There's been a lot of people posting 3 or 4 posts in a row a few seconds after another. You can add multiple quotes from different people to a single post. If you want to add more comments after you post then edit your post.

You can share your video submissions here, but please only post a link to your video once. There have been some people spamming their video here and I can assure you that getting more views on your video will not help your chances.

VxZ got a reaction from Kobathor in Home Office PC <$700 (USA)
First I'd suggest to check her usage, For example, if she does a lot of office work and such, you obviously would focus on the CPU and a little bit of SSD to speed it up (altho not this much, maybe put some of that into the CPU or an HDD for capacity)
Maybe throw a cheap graphics card just in-case (something like $150) if it really doesn't matter you can skip it  feels like a terrible advice to be honest

The only thing I'm noticing is that the motherboard is kinda on the cheap side, If it covers all the features you need and you are sure it will be a quality, then don't change it

Other than that, it should be good in my opinion

    This

I literally built my friend's PC a few hours ago, and I found out he had the M.2 in the second slot, which (-after reading the manual and being careful-) that the slot is M.2 SATA (not NVMe) and it shares bandwidth with other SATA drives

You need to have a brand for yourself, no one high paying wants to hire you if you are an unknown nobody. There are thousands of people on the internet willing to do it for them, but they are all unknown quality. That is why companies pay so much, because they have one guy/firm they are buying from, and they are 100% trustworthy, and will deliver great content at the deadline.

So first thing lower expectations, start from friends/family, then freelancing, local businesses, and start to compile your portfolio. Have some certificates or something too.

So try to work on your skills, and maybe start freelancing/fiverr/ doing project based work.
If you are good, then in a few years you will create animations for the big companies.

That can be said of many job, but the quality of the work is what counts. That is still why they don't hire randos.

Well the 7940X doesn't support 8 channel memory only quad channel. You would need a xeon for 8 channel

I would go with a GTX1080ti or 980ti instead as After Effects will never use the tensor cores and benefits much more from CUDA cores, VRAM, and memory bit width. I suggest using the 960 EVO as a cache drive only, SSD as the primary assets drive, and finally a large HDD for archiving once a project is done. 64Gbs is a good amount but I have found myself using all of it in some scenes. But offloading the cache to the M.2 drive has helped cut down on the RAMdisk size. Overall it looks good. Just make sure to get quad channel memory.

if you could make it to the desktop, try and open the CMD, I don't think it would work since you disabled writing rights, but worth a shot
