  1. Hello all, my current video post-production workstation has AMD 3900x, MSI MEG MB, 64GB ram, RTX3090 + RTX2080Ti (Windows 11 latest) and I am wondering if it is possible to use multiple gpu demanding software effectively. To be more specific ... I use Davinci Resolve for video editing, Photoshop for graphics, Blender for 3d animation and rendering, After Effects (for you know, effects), Media Encoder and I hate that i have to turn on and off all these programs to be able to fully use any of them. I mean .. when I use Davinci Resolve, it takes full usage of GPU (for cache previews, prerenders) and I am no longer able to jump into Blender and fully use the Optix and Denoise tools for previews and rendering, because Davinci doesnt let the GPU go. My basic sollution for this is just to quit Davinci Resolve and start it up again when I am done with other stuff. But these programs are pain to launch. Davinci takes maybe a minute to launch and when you do this 20-30times a day then it can be bad for efficiency reasons. Same story with Photoshop and After Effects. So my question is: Is it possible for Windows to maybe prioritize GPU for certain programs? Or is there any workaround? (Like there is an option for priorities in task manager - anything like this for gpus?) Thanks for any answers! JS
  2. Thanks for the tip. actual sitrep: Right now I have fresh install of windows and it works, but after few windows updates it again started to do this stuff.. doesn't that mean that it is OS (or driver) problem?
  3. i am not sure. I have been messing around with rams pretty heavily.
  4. Hello everyone, I just built my new system and it keeps crashing/restartind/BSOD when I get to windows. System specs: CPU: AMD TR 2950x MB: MSI MEG X399 CREATIN RAM: 4x16GB gskill trident 3200 GPU: RTX2080ti BOOT DRIVE: Samsung NVME M.2 SSD 970 PRO 512GB Second drives: 2x 1TB Samsung nvme m.2 970 EVO in RAID0 I have already reinstalled windows for about 5 times, I have downgraded and upgraded bios and I still have the same problem: After few minutes in my windows system I start to get BSOD with various problems "page_failed_in_nonpaged_area" "critical_service_failed" "IRQL_not_less_or_equal" "kmode_exception_*" "apc_index_dismatch" "memory_management_error" ETC ETC. Even at one installation I wasn't even able to get to windows at all and keep getting these errors during booting. I may have narrowed the problem to following: CPU, NVME, MB, WINDOWS. I have switched memory modules so I know they work. Bios shouldn't be the problem neither. I had to disable IOMMU in bios to be even able to install windows on my NVME SSD. Can you guys help me? As you can guess, it is a workstation and I need to get back to work. I have at least my old system up and running. Thanks in advance. Jakub Stelzer
  5. Thanks. I will probably go with something like 1600i, because i might buy other rtx card and other cards for outputting video to my preview screens etc. and i dont want to change the whole psu and cabeling just because of gpu upgrade.
  6. Thanks for advice. It there any significant difference between those two MBs? I like the fakt that the asus one comes with the 10GbE network card. And sure, i am going for the best i can get. The StoreMI is good idea with NVME SSDs? I will not use classic HDDs.
  7. Hello, I am a music video director and editor and i am curently planning to build new PC workstation. I often edit RED RAW up to 8K and Blackmagic URSA MINI PRO 4,6K RAW. I also do a lot of post-production in after effects. I currently own a Synylogy RS1219+ NAS with 10GbE networking, because i want me and my colleagues to by able to access the RAW data via network. My plan is to go for: CPU: AMD Threadripper 2950X. MB: ASUS ZENITH Zenith Extreme (with the 10GbE card) RAM: ? Not sure, but about 64GB (i think 128 is still overkill) Main SSD: NVME SSD 500GB for WINDOWS and cache/temp/preview files Second SSD: NVME SSD 2TB for apps, some "in-use" project data Main storage: Synology RS1219+ RAID6 (right now with 6x10TB Ironwolf PROs) GPU: Asus RTX2080Ti (I already own this card) PSU: ? Maybe around 850W Cooling? - water? Case? - Something decent Can you please help me with choosing the right parts? RAM? PSU? Cooling? I am pretty sure about the CPU and MB. I know about Intel Optane, is there something similar for AMD? Is there something I am missing? Thanks a lot for your help!! Yeah and sorry for my english, i am from Czech Republic.
