  1. I ordered the rest I needed today. But thank you for all you info. I like to have as much info to consider all sides!
  2. Ya i get that, and its kind of hard to explain. Eventually everything will be new. Eventually. Right now I have 1000 dollars so spending 500 to buy just a gpu doesn't make sense to me. Having 1000 is harder to have than 500. Its literally twice as much. The 3070, or maybe a 3080 eventually is the goal (without the RDNA 2 stuff yet, but I will be fine with owning them as long as they are comparable). Like I said it hard to explain or round the circle in my head. Basically I just needed the advise on the other parts of the system not the "why not do this my way" type of thing. I get it, but its not what I was asking.
  3. But you are not seeing the upgrade the gpu in the future. I get that it would probably be the most bang for my buck at this point. But getting to 500, is a lot easier than getting to 1000. It will likely take me years (3+) as things will likely get worse before they get better. I can get 500 in 2 months to put up for a gpu. It sounds real confusing and its really hard to explain why that is, but trust me it is. So spending the 1000 on upgrading basically everything else is better for me at this time. Plus when I have all the parts eventually I can sell my old system off and may get close to a gpu. The system I currently have I got for pennies off of craigslist. This lady had no idea what she had, and I am not one to argue at a gift horse. For the case, I basically just wanted it for the internals. I do custom fiber glassing in my spare time and will make custom side panels and front eventually I thought I did, I am just not real use to this forum set up and the quoting system. Thank you for your thoughts! That looks real solid! I am going to take my SSD out of this system, I have a samsung pro 2tb. But I will for sure need an HD and for sure a m.2. So thanks for those I completly forgot to mention those. Thank you so much! can I ask just for my own edification why b550 over x570? I have watched videos and stuff on it, I can't figure out what the difference is other than the chipset
  4. Nothing is wrong with the current system. I will probably sell it once I have the new one built. I am upgrading now, because I may not be able to anytime again soon. Right now I have the money and ability to do so.
  5. Budget (including currency): About 1100 without GPU Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 90% gaming. I play almost all single player games. Not completive or anything, 10% normal stuff (youtube, web, etc) Other details So I have my case already. Its a ATX case (darkFlash Phantom Black) and CORSAIR iCUE H100i out of the budget. Got both on sale from Newegg when they were shellshock deals. I am going to attempt to buy a Zen 3 5600x here in a few hours. So with those bought (minus the CPU, but its the CPU I want so if I have to wait I will, and I refuse to pay scalper prices for anything. Can't fault them from making money but its just a dirty business to me and refuse to take part) I will have approx. 600 left. I do not need a GPU, I am going to use my RX 580 for a while until I can get a 3070 (or RDNA 2 equivalent when those are out and if they are competitive which I would love to have another team red pc as my first one I built was all red way back in the day lol.) eventually but it does not need to be counted in the total. I have done some research, and I think I understand I want x570, but I don't understand the difference between that and b550. I would like to have as much money left over that's possible. Even if its a 100 bucks, but it can all go if it has too. I do not want to buy used because if it breaks I wont have the money to replace it. So I need warranties. Like in a big way lol. Any help on what board (x570 or b550) is smarter for a longer use case, which ram will pair with said board and the 5600x. Probably most inportant out of all of this, I have an "OK" gaming rig at the moment. I am very willing to wait on deals and things that might help me save a penny here and there. Thank you all very much whoever has the time to read this mess and help anywhere. If not, and you just have advice or anything feel free to let me know! Thanks so much, LTT forum rocks. I have been a lurker here for many many years... Reason: I am a single child who has to live with my parents because they are both sick and disabled. My dad has leukemia, and my mom has to many to list here. I can't work to earn money normally so I do very few and far between odd jobs. I volunteer at a local food bank the only days I could be working. So income is a major issue. I won't have 1000 to blow on a new system for a few years after this so I need to make it last as long as possible, and I understand thats hard to predict. Its taken me about 2 years to get $1000. If my parents don't improve it may take me as long or longer for me to get any kind of money saved.
  6. I really appreciate all of the replies, sorry for the late response, had a death in the family (friend) to deal with. I feel myself leaning to the 5700xt, but the waiiting might not be a bad option either. I could save up a little more, maybe get around 600 and see where I am at in Febuary. I am kicking myself for not just buying one or the other on black friday. But again thank you all, I do appreciate it!
  7. So I have been saving money for a little while to upgrade my GPU, I wanted to do it on Black Friday, but that came and passed. So now I guess I am just hoping to find a sale on whatever we decide here today haha. So... Say money was not a factor would YOU with your own money buy a 5700xt or a 2070 Super? The 2070 Super can be any card for around $500, and the 5700xt can be up to 450ish (cause if its more than $500 I would probably be getting the 2070 anyway). So I play FPS's, 1080p atm but have a 1440p monitor. I am currently rocking a rx 580. Honestly, it does most things I need it to, but its like right there on the border and like I said I would like to go to 1440p. I do not play any games with Ray Tracing, but might play some in the future so that could be a minor factor. This is strictly a gaming pc, I do not do any work on it. Maybe some light photoshop for the dank meme's. Let me know what you all think, I would prefer no fan boying out, but everyone has to rep their flag, right? Thank you all very much in advance for your time! Edit: I am planning on slowly getting newer parts as the year goes on, like may a new piece every month or 2 or as fast as I can save money
  8. Ya defiantly go active, passive wont work I do not think
  9. Ya wasnt going to look up info about the specific chip because honestly I am not sure my fix is THE FIX. But if you have the time and can, I would roll back the drivers, and do a complete uninstall with DDU found HERE in safe mode. Might not be the fix, but worth a shot.
  10. I am totally not saying this is what it is, but a while back I had (sounds like) a very similar issue. Mine turned out to be a GPU issue. But as you didnt state if you even had a GPU i am totally not sure and I am sure someone will answer better than I. Just thought I'd throw this out there!
  11. So again, you all are awesome!!
  12. Awesome, thanks. I kind of figured they would work but I wanted to ask before I dropped the money and it had no chance of working or something. I mean its only $50 but $50 is $50 for an expensive paperweight haha.
  13. Ya i am shooting for exact same brand, size and timing.
  14. So I already have a 2 x 4gb kit of Crucial Ballistix ram dual channel kit. My question is, can I buy another dual channel kit, another 2 x 4gb kit, for a total of 16gb of ram and stand any chance of it working? So combine 2 dual channel kits basically. I have read a ton of differing opinions. Some say absolutly wont, some say it might, some say who knows. I am willing to buy a used kit and giving it a chance if it has even a little bit of a chance of working. I had a 2 x8gb kit but it went bad. And i had the 2 x 4gb handy/ So my other option is buying another 2x 8gb kit new for basically double the used 2 x 4gb kit sets. Let me know your thoughts, thanks folks! Also my specs are in the sig
  15. Could you just go with PCIe Risers? And put the slots elsewhere in the case?
