  1. Thank you both, Kilrah and Porina. This is probably enough for me to get started. Don't worry, I'll be super careful and make sure that I don't do anything I can't revert. The first thing I'll try to change will be something harmless, that way if I mess it up and somehow can't undo it it won't be a big deal. I'll probably just change the volume for a sound effect that way it'll be easy to tell if the changes applied.
  2. Well if I can get access to the unobfuscated firmware then I think I'd have a good shot. I don't really want to do more than tweak some values. I don't really appreciate when people comment on a thread "If you have to ask how to do it, you probably can't." It's not helpful and straight up kinda rude. I'm asking not because I can't do it, but because I want advice on where to start. Everyone starts learning from scratch, there's no harm in asking for advice before you get started with something new. Thanks for the tips you gave me though, I do appreciate the insight.
  3. I have a pair of Logitech Astro A30s and I'd like to modify their firmware. Tbh the headphones are pretty great for what I need! Just the firmware is sooo bad. There's weird volume changes, the headphones go to sleep if I'm too still for too long, the sound effect for connecting to a Bluetooth source is painfully loud, ect. I do have experience with programming, and I'm fairly tech savvy, but I haven't worked with firmware before. I was hoping I could get some insight from more experienced people into how difficult this will be to do, or if possible some resources on how to do this. (Also, please don't just tell me to get different headphones, I legitimately do like almost everything but the firmware, and some of the things I want from headphones are hard to find.)
  4. Budget (including currency): $1,000 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Valorant, League of Legends, Minecraft, Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Peripherals don't need to be included. Upgrading from a laptop, buying in December/January, 60fps 1080p. Hello, I'm trying to help a friend build a pc. I normally would advise them to build their own (or I would build it for them), but it's kinda hard to get hands on a GPU these days. I was wondering what good avenues there are for getting a PC in this current climate. It seems that prebuilt companies are just gonna be a ripoff and give you stupid configs like a 3060 with 8gb ram. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm considering trying to buy a used card from ebay or something like that. I was just hoping I could get some experienced opinions. To clarify I've built many PCs myself, I'm just not sure how to navigate this shortage effectively.
  5. I said I Optimized it, I did not defrag it.
  6. I did think about the partitions for a moment, but I didn't think they were any larger than a GB, as for hidden files and folders; I have those enabled. Shouldn't they be accounted for in the total contents of a folder? EDIT: I checked, the partition (my C drive) is 222.12 GB big, so that's not the issue.
  7. In windows explorer, it says that my C drive has 76 GB of free space out of the 222 GB it has total. However, looking in the folders located in that drive, they account to 109 GB. 222 -109 = 113 so why does windows report that it has 76 GB free? Are there 37 GB of ghost files or something? I'm at a loss here and could use some help. My C drive is an SSD btw, it's an NVMe m.2 drive. I have used Defraggler to optimize the drive already, as well as Win10 drive check.
  8. I have an odd project, I want to use a PC I have for running video game servers. I don't have a dedicated monitor for said PC, is there a way to vitrualize a monitor or display so I can use remote control software to access the PC? I'm new to Ubuntu but not Windows 10 or software/hardware stuff.
  9. I am 100% sure I am using the graphics card and not integrated graphics.
  10. Oh well that sucks, my geforce experience is broken, everytime I launch it, it tells me to relaunch because something broke.
  11. First off I will list my system specs: ASUS GTX1060 6GB, Intel Core i7-6700k 4.00GHZ, 16GB DDR3 RAM 2600MHz. My problem isn't that my computer can't keep up with the games I play, it seems to not want to keep up. For example; Sometimes in VRChat(desktop mode) I get 40 fps but task manager says I am only using 70% of my GPU and about 60% of my CPU. There are also times when I get 20 fps but my GPU is at 30% and CPU 20%. Is there bottlenecking here? Or is it a software thing?
  12. I am looking for a co-op story-based RPG Adventure to play with my boyfriend, we live together so that makes LAN an option. I wouldn't want an MMO, I want something where we get to play out the story. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated! Maybe a game with magic would be fun, but we wouldn't mind a si-fi game either! Edit: Looking for a 3rd or 1st person adventure game, not based on puzzles. We love Portal 2 but we are more looking for an open-world adventure to experience. Thank you so much for the responses though!
  13. I kinda figured. I built a second PC to be used as a server machine and I don't want to get a monitor for it. Would there be any option other than getting a monitor for it?
