@biotoxin Just be aware that with Link Clones if they power cycle they, usually, revert to original state. That means persistent data should be saved on to network shares etc

That was actually still just a single system, unRAID, and was using "linked clones" in VMware speak. Think most of the hypervisors can do this sort of thing and doesn't require anything special on the storage side, other than if you need multiple hosts you can present the datastore to multiple.

Yea pretty much Linked Clones is what you are after, or what ever each hypervisor calls that same thing.

I already google it but cant find the answer, if some can plaese explane to mi or put a link.

Once someone told me that mac in its new filesystem have something like that, so a file is realy one one time in the hd and the others are only shourcuts, does zfs have something like that?

Linus you need tu remake it, but realy "EPIC"

Sometimes if a system isn't well maintained you can end up with a bunch of stuff executing on startup that is accumulated through the years and slows down the computer. If you're using a HDD there's also the problem of fragmentation if you haven't defragged it in a while, which causes disk slowdowns and can cause stuttering or freezes when loading new textures for example.

There's also a chance of there being malware on the old installation.

    whyyyyyy

GT 1030 at best buy is like $120 if i recall, terrible deal. it launched at like $80 msrp and only rose in price. and never buy DDR3 new, always buy it used. It's just too old, and they sell it for more than DDR4 (because nobody manufactures it so stock goes down, and therefore price goes up)

Overall, you spent $250 on upgrades worth $150 at most, so there's your first problem.

Your second problem is that the CPU is useless and can't be salvaged. If I were you, I'd take the ram, ssd, gpu, and basically everything that's not the motherboard and soldered CPU and hit up ebay for a used i3 4130 and cheap H81 motheboard. It will be an enormous performance upgrade, just toss in a new cheapo psu as well because I bet that 220w is proprietary (but if it's not, go ahead and keep using it)
It is impossible to build a gaming system out of the parts you have, you can't upgrade CPU performance by buying other parts like a better GPU and SSD, or more ram. you are stuck with processors that can't game, and the one and only solution is to get a new one. I highly suggest looking at local electronics recyclers, they might have super cheap or even free systems they're giving away. and return the graphics card and ram if you can, because that shit is too expensive and getting your money back is ideal here.

pc part picker does NOT check known compatibility lists, it merely checks physical (eg, yep this is ddr4 ram on a ddr4 motherboard) it doesn't even check frequency, it'll say ddr4 5000 has no incompatibility with first gen ryzen or any ddr 4 mobo which simply isn't true

now I don't know which exact kit you got but the typical format would be like this
    F4-3200C16D-32GTRG
this is for the cas 16 (c16) dual channel (D) gold series (gtrG), if it's silver then it'd be GTRS, and if you paid the premium for cas 14 it'd be C14D
then there's also the C16Q and C14Q which are for quad channel which from you saying you got 2x16 not 4x16 I'm assuming you have the D, but I went ahead and checked all their listings both Q and D cas 16 and 14
according to all listings all such kits are compatible with the x570 MSI ACE with a ryzen 3000 series
while that doesn't guarantee interoperability between multiple kits usually it'd be fine though I'm assuming you only have the one kit anyway

that said I did have this very specific problem with DXE core code 90 with trident z royal ram in january and getting a different kit was my solution, yours may be happening for an entirely different reason but I would highly suggest first updating the bios on your board if the ACE supports headless flash just pull the cpu all together then update, if not I might suggest trying cmos reset and hoping for the best with only 1 stick in at a time until you can figure it out, with enough tries you should at least be able to get to bios one time long enough to update, or just trying a different kit of ram if at all possible just for testing purposes

if indeed it's not a memory problem my next guess would be cpu, maybe a reseat where pins aren't making good contact or heatsink is on too tight, then honestly I'd probably take it all out of the case test on the box the mobo came in and just try one component at a time, mobo and cpu and listen for a beep saying no memory, no beep means cpu is the problem, if that works then add memory  one stick at a time, then gpu, etc down the line ending with the drives, but DXE core is usually a core component either cpu, ram, or mobo

Well, for one, RED doesn't cater to consumers or even to most YouTubers. This is the type of stuff that would be used for making TV shows, commercials, and even full-length movies. Most people won't be working with RED footage to begin, drastically limiting the users that can take advantage of a Red Rocket card. Not being able to benefit from economies of scale probably drives up prices quite by a substantial portion, and R&D isn't cheap either. Most likely, this is an ASIC unit.

For two, the companies that can afford $50k camera + accessories are likely to see such a return on investment that the cost is inconsequential.

biotoxin reacted to Razor512 in This $7000 Card Does WHAT?? – Holy $H!T
Seems like the equivalent of a glorified and insanely overpriced Physx card. Knowing them, that card is probably just a GPU with special drivers, or at most, an FPGA that is optimized for their video format, and in  their price gouging fashion where the company is willing to charge like $400 for a where that cost less than $1 to make, they decided to price gouge in this area also.

Their greed will eventually be their downfall when another company steps into this field and offers similar hardware for a fraction of the price.

RED should have at least sold those cards for $100-200, especially if it is only useful for their formats, that would encourage people to adopt their technologies.

Imagine if they sold those cards in PCI express slot and thunderbolt configurations and designed them for adding RED acceleration as many devices as possible. That would make people more likely to buy their cameras, as it means easier times working with the footage in the field where you may only have a laptop.

they've (ms general) started moving away from it on backend, I guess they're developing yet another file system, something to do with virtualization and speed, apparently v2 didn't make enough improvements
they also haven't had much development of it or progress on fixing any of it's huge problems, e.g. compression & dedupe

they've actually made it clear it won't be replacing ntfs like we expected for non-server applications
signs point to they're doing something different
and maybe this is just a goof, but it might indicate something more is that their onedrive service and I think another application, no longer support ReFS drives, recent news though so I'll wait to see where it goes

looked into btrfs though for handling this and it might actually work out depending on coalesced writes.

No, that's just super dumb. did you even bother doing some math before making that comment? most large backups are already done to cold-storage servers which are highly optimized storage servers with low performance and massive hdd arrays for a reason.

A 10TB enterprise drive is like 400USD, and a 1TB enterprise SSD is 500+USD, with perfect scaling that would mean that this 50TB drive would cost at least 25.000USD. But let's give them the benefit of the doubt and say 20.000 USD assuming they can manufacture it cheaply. If you wanted to store a petabyte with good redundancy, you'd need about 120 10TB drives.

Each of those storage servers is about 5.000-10.000USD, but let's assume it's a high-end 10k USD server with 60 HDD bays. That's 20k in servers and 120x400 = 48.000USD in drives plus let's say 2k USD for the installation and setup. So you can get a petabyte of HDD storage for about 60.000 dollars.

Now if you were to do the same with 50TB SSDs, you'd need just one cheap server with 30 bays and 25 SSDs. So that would be  5.000 server + 25x20.000 SSDs + 2.000 installation. So 1 petabyte of SSDs would run you a cool half a million dollars. compared with 60.000 with harddrives. Only mission-critical data would justify those prices, and these SSDs definitely do not have the performance for that application.

So yeah, I don't know who on earth they'll sell these to.

biotoxin reacted to SpaceGhostC2C in multiple systems, how much bottleneck do I have?
I can assure you, your CPU at 5.2GHz is way beyond 125W under full load
The thing is that you will rarely use both CPU and GPU(s) at 100% simultaneously (unless you run Prime95 and a GPU benchmark in the backgrund ). I have a 9370 at 4.5 (1.35v under load) and two R9 280s (250W rating), and the whole system draws 450-500W in games (I play old games, though, probably Metro and Civ VI are the most demanding things I've thrown at it), 300W when only the CPU is pushed. So, you may want the PSU upgrade to be on the safe side from theoretical maxima, but you are prbably soing OK with the 800W PSU as well. Anyway, it won't hurt to stay in the 40-80% range of your PSU (due to efficiency).

I think the main issue with your crossfire setup is the 144Hz monitor. I mean, the issue is feeding it 144FPS  That's when you may notice the CPU. At 60-90Hz, you can always use the extra GPU power to crank everything up to "very high", "ultra", "ridiculous", etc. level at native resolution without taking a hit (to the extent that it's not physx or some other cpu-dependent effect). Even play with AA or replace it with using 4K, then down-scaling with the GPU to 1440p if still too much GPU horsepower for the CPU.
