  1. Thanks for the quick answers. I should have given more input: - I did a clean install of the drivers, but I did not touch my Windows - so there is always the possibility of a complete clean install of my operating system as a last resort. - the CPU is monitored while testing and does not drop in clock speed. The load is quite high with 80% but it's not reaching the 100%. It is not overclocked, just like the GPU. - I tested BF1 and BFV in both DX11 and DX12. Interestingly, the performance under DX11 is worse than under DX12, at least for BFV. I get less stutter but the stutters are heavier, even to a point where the game seems to freeze. BF1, on the other hand, is a complete mess under DX12, so I stick to DX11. - PUBG is a mess, yeah. But even this game should perform better than it currently does. Also: I get the freezes even with very low resolution (720p) and with the GPU being locked at 60 fps. @jones177 It's the newest Nvidia drivers version but I didn't touch the GPU bios
  2. Hi, I'm facing problems after changing my GPU. I switched from an ASUS Strix 970 to an MSI Armor 2070. Although the GPU is most of the times at a high load at around 90 to 100%, there are very occasional drops in the usage to under 80, sometimes even to around 50% usage which results in framedrops and heavy stutters. Since I have an i7 8700k and 16 GB of RAM a limitation from the CPU side should be excluded. I mainly play Battlefield V, Battlefield 1 and PUBG at the moment and although the overall performance was worse with my 970 (which is to be expected), the overall usage was always at a high level (99% mostly) and there were no major drops in usage like the ones I'm having right now with my 2070. I can also exclude temperature problems since my CPU is not getting hotter than 80 degrees celsius. There is also no sign of downclocking and the GPU itself is relatively cool at around 60 to maximum 65 degrees. I even bought a second 2070 to make sure that I didn't buy a faulty one. My system: - i7 8700k- 16 GB DDR 2400Mhz Corsair- MSI Z370 A Pro-Mainboard- MSI Armor RTX 2070 Non-OC- Fractal Design FD-PSU-TS2W-650W Tesla R2 power supply- 250 GB SSD & 2 TB Seagate-HDD I tried a couple of things by myself: - Installing and uninstalling the GPU drivers a couple of times - BIOS update for my mainboard - installing the games on different drives/SSDs My personal guess is that there is a problem with my relatively old and heavily used power supply (which is more than 4 years old) which might not be able to supply enough power. It is a quality power supply, but it is quite old - just like I said. In addition, the RTX 2070 uses two cables. A six-pin and an eight-pin cable whereas my 970 only required on 8-pin. According to GPU-Z, the power drops along with the GPU usage - which I guess is to be expected. I also checked other users with pretty much the same configuration on Youtube who have a very stable 90 to almost 100% usage in those particular games (BFV, BF1). So I can't understand why my GPU usage is dropping like that which it didn't do with the 970. Anyone else have a guess apart from the power supply? Thanks in advance.
