Dxer got a reaction from Tan3l6 in New 5800x but Ryzen Master doesn't like it.
Oddly enough, just for SnGs, I redownload it and reinstalled it. Now it works fine. I guess 6th time is a charm.
With that being said, why is Ryzen Master garbage? I had been using it since the Ryzen chips were introduced and haven't had any problems.
Coming from a decade or more using Intel processors. And a large mix of manufacturers before that. 🙂
So, what makes Ryzen Master bad and what are some good alternatives in your opinion?

ah then go ahead. the tuf is a good board. sure, you won't do LN2 overclocking on it, but for air/aio you can max out any cpu on it. and given it's current price, which is much cheaper than the tomahawk, i'd go for it.

Dxer reacted to Entropy. in Asus x570 TUF Plus
Sorry, my bad, I thought you were saying that you *were* a heavy overclocker. The TUF x570 is a decent board if you're not concerned about pushing your chips. Otherwise looks good.

Dxer got a reaction from Mister Woof in Help for new PC build
Just going to throw this out here.
If your primary use is for video editing, I think you would be far better with a 2700 and get the extra 4 threads. That will help quite a bit.
Perhaps the pricing is a bit out of range where you are located?

Dxer got a reaction from YamatoBeats in RAM speed problem
What program are you using to see the ram speed?
Typically you would multiply that reading by two. So, if it says 1600, then it is running at 3200.

Dxer reacted to YamatoBeats in RAM speed problem
Oh, jesus christ on a stick. I'm using CPU-Z and it's perfectly fine. I had just got done downclocking it so it now shows 3066. I appreciate the help, friendos. Sorry for taking up a post spot.

Dxer got a reaction from Zando_ in Is it finally time for an upgrade? #strictly_gaming
I am kind of guessing you are in the same boat as me. I am getting older (51) and gaming isn't really something I do a whole lot of anymore.
I had been on the Intel side since the Core2Duo (AMD before that) days when I believed it to be the best bang for your buck since O/Cing was incredible. Then I ran
an I5-2500k for about 6 years until a component failed and I built a new machine 2 years ago. I decided to give AMD a chance with the Ryzen 1600
and I never regretted my decision. For me, it was a nice and cost efficient upgrade with the extra cores and threads. It still allowed me to play some
of the games I still play once in a while. But really helped with photography and some light video work.
So I believe with any processor you buy now days whether Ryzen or Intel, it will still have enough punch to breeze through any application you toss at it. So just
look for the best bang for your buck. The I5-9600k will definitely be a good single thread performer with a nice 5ghz o/c.

Dxer got a reaction from James Logan in 2700 or 3600
Oh yeah, that will do well. Good solid build.
I am currently running what you see in my signature. I just do some light gaming and what little titles I play, I can run them at max settings with good results.
I also do some photography and some light video editing and it runs my software nicely.
Don't expect to break any benchmarking records I believe you should be happy with that build.

Dxer got a reaction from James Logan in 2700 or 3600
If you just want to game, the 3600. If you need more cores for productivity, 2700.

Well, I have to go to work. Hopefully someone else can help you a bit and solve your problem. Good luck.

Dxer got a reaction from andrewmp6 in Go Custom or Go AIO?
With the NZXT H500, I would stick with an AIO. You might be hard pressed to fit a custom loop inside that case. Not impossible though.
I did the Kraken x62 in my stepson's H500 and it fits like a glove. Nice, neat and it works pretty good.
If you want a custom loop, I recommend a bigger case that can accommodate a larger radiator and reservoir. Also only if you want to get into
higher and more extreme overclocking.

I needed to update my BIOS for my 2700 in my B350 as well. Something to check into.

And did you make sure you plugged the CPU fan into a CPU fan header and not a chassis fan header?
Sorry if some of these questions sound trivial, but sometimes it is something very simple.

Dxer got a reaction from Masada02 in Unigine Valley Benchmark Scores Thread + SUPERPOSITION ***Over 1000 Submissions!***
My Christmas present upgrades. Thanks to my wife who completely surprised me.
R5 1600 -- R7 2700
GTX 1060 3gb -- GTX 1070
I still have some tweaking to do but currently very satisfied with the upgrades. For the light gaming I do, this is a bit of an overkill though.

Can we get a complete run down on your system?
If you have a decent quality 550w power supply, it should be plenty though.

I wish I could have kept some of the old stuff I use to have. But nope, I don't or I haven't found yet.
How about an 18.2GB SCSI drive?

Dxer got a reaction from TVwazhere in Case suggestions
I am not to terribly set on a full tower, but they do make a fantastic leg rest. A mid-tower surely isn't out the door either. That could comfortably fit under my desk. Your case does look nice. I will look into it and thanks for the suggestion.
-
Dxer reacted to TVwazhere in Case suggestions
How dead set are you on Full tower? There's quite a few options in the Mid tower catagory that can fit your specs while being good for airflow, namely off the top of my head tyhe modern version to the HAF-X, The H500P Mesh.

Dxer reacted to Wh0_Am_1 in Case suggestions
If you care about the longevity of your computer parts, just keep the HAF X, all the new cases tend to have poor ventilation, like the mentioned View 71, due to tempered, glass, plastic, and other trends. With the HAF X your fans/computer can actually breathe .
