  1. Tried 1.4v @3.9ghz an no luck. It will boot but eventually will lock up shortly after loading into windows. Also CPU temps are good. Currently at 3.8ghz @ 1.221V and stress testing shows CPU temps in low 60s.
  2. Okay, so my wonderful wife buys me this CPU for Xmas as well as a new 34" IPS. Totally unexpected. I updated the BIOS F22 prior to installation. It appears to have gone off without a hitch. Install the CPU. Boots up and runs fine. Now the issue is that I lost the silicon lottery with this one. I was currently running my 1600 @ 3.9ghz 24/7. I can only hit 3.8ghz with this CPU and it should be able to hit 4.1ghz? So did I lose the lottery or perhaps this motherboard just can't run it properly? I am running the Gigabyte AB-350 Gaming 3 - CF board that I bought last year shortly after Ryzen came out.
  3. It will fit your motherboard fine. I do believe it will come with thermal paste preinstalled, at least it did with my H115. Lifespan, well, time will only tell but should last quite some time barring any manufacture defects. Just make sure you have a way to mount the radiator. You should be good to go.
  4. I am not to terribly set on a full tower, but they do make a fantastic leg rest. A mid-tower surely isn't out the door either. That could comfortably fit under my desk. Your case does look nice. I will look into it and thanks for the suggestion.
  5. While my giant HAF-X is still a pretty good case, I have had this thing for the past 7 years. It is time to look at something else. Something under $250. Full Tower. Preinstalled RGB fans with controller (optional). Mounting for my 280mm radiator. I am currently looking at a Thermaltake View 71 RGB. So I am just looking for criticism or other options. Thanks
  6. Solid system. As stated, the GPU will be bottlenecked a bit. You should be able to play most games at high settings. Ultra settings might bog down a little bit or trying to run 1440p. Still should be fine at 1080p.
  7. Nothing wrong buying used. All my camera gear except for my Sigma 150-600mm lens is all used. Though when looking for an used camera, get a shutter count on it first. Lower the better. And of course just use a little common sense when buying from private parties. Check feedback and all that jazz.
  8. As far as choosing the 1600 vs 1600x was price. I built this system over a year ago when prices were quite a bit higher and Ryzen was pretty new. And I always overclock my stuff a little bit anyway. Currently I got my system stable at 3.9ghz after I changed out the stock AMD cooler and installed a Corsair H115i water cooler.
  9. I am not as heavy into games I use to be. I am getting a bit up there in age and my eye-hand coordination isn't all that great. But with that, I still play a little World of Warcraft, World of Tanks and World of Warships and I can max them all out and get good frame rates. I also do a bit of video processing and this Ryzen absolutely smokes the Intel I5-2500K @ 4.3 ghz that I was running. I also do a lot of astrophotography. Again, with the software I use to stack and process my images is so much faster now with this setup.
  10. All this from Amazon.IT It is basically the same system I am running. It was about the best I could find. You are right, prices are much higher there than here. At least mine did. I can't read Italian very well. lol
  11. Indeed, I am liking this place as well. I just joined last week and it has been very informative. I have been building machines probably longer than a lot of people here have been alive. lol But I had been out of the loop the past several years and it is time to play a little catch up. I will take look at Amazon and see what I can find.
  12. All I could find is the M2A RAM is optimized for the Intel X99 and 100 series platforms and the M2Z is optimized for Ryzen. I haven't figured out why since when I looked at the reviews, they all can be used on both platforms. That being said, it is always safe to go with the compatibility list of the motherboard you are using just in case you run into some kind of issue and need to talk to a tech. At least you can tell them that you are using RAM that was stated would work in your motherboard.
  13. Just a small correction. You can indeed use all the older Nikon AI-S and AF glass on a D3400. You just won't be able to use the auto focus feature. They all still work fine with manual focus. I have an older D3100 as well as a D7000 and D7200. I have a mix of AI-S, AF and AF-G glass and they all will interchange just fine between the bodies.
  14. nope nope nope You should be able to find a good price for a power supply on Cyber Monday. B&H has some EVGA power supplies right now at an excellent price. I just purchased one myself a few minutes ago actually.
  15. I am not sure where in Europe you would be ordering parts from, but I hope this will give you an idea what does fit into that budget buying in the USA. For 725 Euros, this can be done here. Should make any video editing and streaming a breeze. Using the GTX1060 with that monitor should be fine for most games and applications. Though if you want to stream, it might be lagging behind a bit. If you can post links from websites you would be ordering from, I can take a look and see what I can come up with.
  16. As Imeneses has state, get 3000mhz or faster RAM if possible. The PSU he listed is a real steal and thanks for pointing that out. I just got the 850 watt version for 65 bucks from there. I couldn't pass up that deal. I am currently building one for my stepson. Awaiting for the motherboard to arrive tomorrow I hope. I had to RMA it. I am also using the NZXT 500 case for that build as well. I just installed a 280mm radiator and fans. I hope to have it up and running for him tomorrow.
  17. Hmmm, I am not liking the power supply option for the power hungry Vega 56. If you are not dead set on the Vega, I'd opt for a GTX1070 for about the same price and uses less power. Secondly, why only a 500gb mechanical hard drive? You could likely get larger for the same price.
  18. Here is what I am about to put together for my stepson. Minus some mechanicals drives, monitors and an OS since we already have a lot of that here. Wow, I like this website!!
  19. I haven't yet figured in the OS, Case and the H110 yet. So I am still looking. I do have the NZXT H500 at the house now getting ready to build a one for my stepson. It is an attractive looking case and pretty inexpensive.
  20. I had almost the same system in my notepad but I was squeezing in an Asus GTX1080 instead at $580. GTX1070 should still be plenty fast enough for any 1080p gaming. And I went with the MSI B450 Gaming Plus. The least expensive monitor solution was the Acer GN246HL 24" 144hz 1080P at $196 each. NOTE: Prices all from Newegg
  21. Will you also be needing a new case, power supply and video card?
  22. I wish I could have kept some of the old stuff I use to have. But nope, I don't or I haven't found yet. How about an 18.2GB SCSI drive?
