  1. It was like that after fresh install. May cables are all sweet. After tinkering around trying to fix it, I completely borked my install haha. I decided to try out Pop OS with their nvidia iso. Each screen works with the correct refresh rate just no gsync on the 165hz screen but I think I can live with that. Just a shame to go from kde to gnome as I prefer kde. I’m not sure what extra things are done behind the scenes for the nvidia pop iso. It’s running the exact same driver I installed on Kubuntu. Wether it’s a kde vs gnome thing? I think everyone will have a better time when the nvidia drivers move on from X11 and on to wayland. If things keep progressing the way things are, shouldn’t be long before we all get a pretty seamless experience gaming on Linux. Much love to Valve pushing this along. Appreciate you taking the time to lend me hand! Wish you all the best in life!
  2. Originally set via Nvidia but had tried both. Kubuntu 22.04, KDE Plasma 5.27.4, KDE framework 5.104.0, QT 5.15.8. Nvidia driver 535.113.01 with an RTX 3080 Ti
  3. Hey friends, Ive made the switch to Linux and want to continue gaming. Having a really good experience this far except with my screens. I have 3 dell panels powered by a 3080ti. On the left is a 4k 60hz, the centre is a 1440p 165hz gsync and the right screen is a 4K 60hz. I have the central monitor set as primary however when gaming it quite clearly not running at 165hz and seems to be tethered to the left screen and won’t run gsync and is stuck at 60hz. If I disable both the 4K screens, I get 165hz and gsync on my central screen… Is there a way to have everything enabled and my central screen to work properly?
  4. Hello friends, Im presently building a home labs/NAS server and picked up an X470 board and Ryzen 7 on the cheap. The MSI website advises it’s compatible with ECC memory. Just wondering if anyone has advice on using registered memory on this motherboard (I’m assuming I can’t use any old ecc dimm and must stick to the modules listed on the compatibility page?) or if I should use standard modules for my server instead? Board details here: MSI X470 Gaming Plus specs: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/X470-GAMING-PLUS/Specification compatibility list: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/X470-GAMING-PLUS/support#mem Any feedback or advice on running a home server would be appreciated. So far I’m running proxmox with a VM for truenas, Ubuntu server and a container for docker/portainer. Just need more ram and storage to complete the build.
  5. I have a question friends... I have an i7 8700K running all cores 4.8GHz with a CoolMaster ML360R AIO push+pull. What is the most accurate application to measure temps as there are discrepancies between the 3 on my system? e.g. At idle: MSI Command Center 34°C - Coretemp 55°C and HWinfo 63°C
  6. post from the link you shared: Yes. This fixed. FFS. It's always the one setting you over look. Thanks fam, cheers for your efforts!
  7. i7 8700K and a Asus RTX 2080 OC If I use the integrated graphics to run the second screen I will see a detrimental performance drop on my stream. I've seen it suggested elsewhere and its not a viable option unfortunately (I've tested it and it wasn't simple some mobo's don't even allow integrated and discrete at the same time). Tried both of those to no avail!
  8. Hey everyone, I've recently built a new PC and I game and stream a fair bit. My old system could handle gaming and streaming on the same system no problems but my new and even more powerful rig feels crippled in comparison doing the same task. I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why my stream stutters and is not capable of 1080/720 60FPS. I've looked into everything, hardware and software until I discovered a problem with windows. My new display is 144hz and my old one which was relegated to a second screen is 60hz. It turns out windows has a panic attack if two screens at different refresh rates are running at the same time, prime example gaming on one and OBS on the other. So the moment any animation plays on the 60hz everything runs well below 60hz and stutters. So my question is how the hell do I bypass this problem without having to cripple my main screen to 60hz?
  9. Hello friends! Long time lurker first time poster. I'm hoping you clever peoples could help weigh in on a potential upgrade for my system. I stream and Game a lot and I just feel like I've hit the ceiling on my current system in this respect. I didn't win the silicon lottery either as I can only manage an overclock of about 4.1 GHz out of the ol' 4770K. If I were to upgrade I only have a budget of $1000AUD. My current PC is as follows: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel - Core i7-4770K 3.5 GHz Quad-Core Processor CPU Cooler: Corsair - H100i 77 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler Motherboard: Asus - Sabertooth Z87 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard Memory: G.Skill - Sniper Series 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3-1866 Memory Memory: G.Skill - Sniper Series 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3-1866 Memory Storage: Samsung - 840 EVO 250 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage: Seagate - Barracuda 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: EVGA - GeForce GTX 1080 8 GB FTW Gaming ACX 3.0 Video Card Case: Cooler Master - Storm Trooper ATX Full Tower Case Power Supply: Corsair - Professional 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply Total: $0.00 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2018-11-18 14:04 AEDT+1100 I run a dual screen setup which is an ROG 144hz 1080P screen and a ASUS 1080P60 screen. I was running a QNIX 1440P @ 100Hz but i dropped down to get extra frames whilst streaming and I stream at 1080P any hows. I was thinking a CPU/MOBO/RAM swap and integrating my other components: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel - Core i5-9600K 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor ($449.00 @ PCCaseGear) Motherboard: MSI - MPG Z390 GAMING PLUS ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($249.00 @ PCCaseGear) Memory: Kingston - FURY 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($199.00 @ PCCaseGear) Total: $897.00 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2018-11-18 14:04 AEDT+1100 Or do I keep running with the haswell and try for a bigger GPU? 1080TI - Hard to find these bad boys new but I found a Gigabyte option for $1300AUD second hand is around $850AUD-$1100AUD from what I've found so far. Is it going to be much of game changer over a GTX1080? RTX2070 - $829AUD-$1200AUD going by benchmarks and Linus's recent video the performance will be negligible over my GTX1080 RTX2080 - $1199AUD-$1500AUD just out of my budget but I could wait a touch to aim for one of these RTX2080TI - $2200AUD Filthy expensive and not an option for me. What would you do??? Am I being to impatient???
