My sons laptop died on him! The day before it died he noticed he wasn't getting xbox notifications.. And he noticed his time and date was wrong.. He changed it and no problems.. The next day he went from Minecraft to youtube and it just went black.. I thought because of the time and date thing maybe it was the cmos battery.. But that did nothing.. Watched a ton of youtube and tried everything.. So i took it to a pro.. He told me that the cpu was fried because whoever repaired it previously did not put some kind of chip or regulator thing to prevent too much current to the cpu.. Which fried it.. Now my question is.. Can i swap out the motherboard and just replace it? I found one on alibaba but im afraid to throw away 500 for nothing. Also can i swap it out for a potentially better motherboard/cpu/gpu? His laptop is a Asus rog strix gl503ge. Any help or advice would ve greatly appreciated! Thanks, TJ

Hey thank you for all the help! I ended up cancelling the hdd and picked up a samsung 980 1 tb m.2 and an 8gb kingston 3200mhz ram card.. His laptop is ridiculously fast now and has 99% less lag! Were all super happy.

Thank you for the quick response! I have ordered the 1 TB version! I was hoping I could just add an ssd drive but I guess swapping out wont be to hard.. Also the back panel shows 2 open slots.. If I ended adding ram as well would I have to remove the full back panel and replace the existing ram or can I just add it to the open slot shown in the pic?

Hey, so I bought my son a gaming laptop. It's the Asus Rog Strix GL503G 15inch He is constantly having issues playing games (fortnite, roblox) without terrible lag. Even just everyday tasks are very slow.. I was considering upgrading maybe his hd to an ssd or just something a little faster for load times or maybe upgrading ram. But I'm having problems finding compatible parts that aren't trash.. Not sure if I'm terrible at this or there's just no hope.. Lol His setup: Laptop: Asus rog strix GL503G Cpu: intel i7 Gpu: 1050ti Ram: 4gb Op: win 10 Ethernet cable hookup with max speed internet I have all of his drivers up to date as per "driver easy" and i have all of his fortnite settings on low or off for all visual settings. Any help will be appreciated. Literally just want to help lil man get up and gaming! I added a pic of the back panel and also his current benchmark. I also should say that I have spent hours trying all the little tricks that google and youtube has to offer.. But since have done a full factory reset and fresh re install of win 10. First off thanks for all the help so far.. I have reset my bios to default, and and still a little unsure as to how to adjust the timing. I added some pics of the ram timing settings and the specs for my ram. Thanks!

Not sure what you mean that you don't have my combo.. As in own? Because I provided all my specs.. And I have no idea what bog settings or adding one or two timings are.. But i'll hit the books I suppose

Hey I am all of the sudden having trouble with my pc. I built it about a year ago with no prior experience or vast knowledge. I have had intermittent issues with my pc crashing only while a game is running and idle (ie. Assasins creed, fortnite, Gta5) I made sure all drivers are up to date but not 100% sure what all drivers consists of. Now my pc wont boot on start up. All fans and lights come on I have a few rgbs so its quite apparent theres power. I have tried to reinstall drivers and checked for any updates. I have tried setting my sleep time in win10 to 1min and comp went into sleep mode and recovered no problem. Super confused and at my wits end.. Any help would be greatly appreciated. No worries its my first build. First time doi g anything like this. It was super rewarding.. Pretty proud of it.. Just need to figure out what the hell im doing.. Lol my cooler is a monster! It was hard to find a case to fit it.. So big but i love it! I have a Thermaltake p5 case so its all on display!

Thats why I tagged myself a newbie. My monitor says 3840x2160. So i set the game to that. I get it real simple. Overwhelming to me who has always played console and just made the switch.
