  1. Dang I didn't know I could do that. I'm looking at this right now: How to download and install an earlier version of Windows 10 - gHacks Tech News Is this what you had in mind? As with the issue, My computer is crashing on a black screen when I play video games. I go into more detail here: PC freezes on a solid color screen or the game itself will just crash and driver timeout error pops up, normal performance everywhere else. - Troubleshooting - Linus Tech Tips
  2. I was doing some troubleshooting with my PC and I eventually got around to reinstalling the OS with a completely clean reinstall after formatting my drives. But since this didn't resolve my issue, I now want to see if trying a different version of windows will help out.
  3. AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Six-Core Processor 16.0 GB of T-force RAM running at 2400 Mhz Windows 10 RX 580 8gb Saphire Nitro MSI B450 Tomahawk Adata SU 800 256 gb Baracuda 2tb HDD I just wrapped up running an hour-long session of Heaven and prime 95 (stressing both RAM and CPU) and I can't recreate the freeze/crash errors I've been getting. I've already used DDU in safe mode to revert to a much more stable version of my drivers that I know worked before but that hasn't worked. After that I've tried out the recommended drivers from AMD's site, I've already reset windows from within "recovery" in the windows settings and chose the "remove everything" option. I've updated my BIOS and chipset drivers. I've noticed that most of the time when a game crashes I receive a "cpumetricsserver.exe" error in reliability monitor. Neither my CPU and RAM are overclocked, my GPU's vram on the other hand has this weird situation where it used to idle at a 2100 Mhz until I disconnect my second monitor but it instantly shoots back up to 2100 mhz when I open up a game. I've never touched my vram's clock speed so I don't know why it boosts that high under load and I can't set it any lower with Afterburner. I've run the check disk command on both my SSD and HDD. I'm very much out of ideas to try and am starting to assume that either my GPU or CPU are starting to falter. If anyone knows any other tests or tricks to try to sus out the issue, I'd gladly accept the advice.
  4. I want to upgrade the family computer which happens to use this specific type of RAM: 8GB 1RxS PC4 2400T UA2 11 from SK hynix. It seems to have a lot in common with this other DIMM. But one is designated as "UA2" and the other "RDO". Although only a minor difference I hear RAM DIMM's are rather finicky and sometimes wont wor'k when together. Thanks in advance for the help.
  5. Correct me if I am wrong, but does Linus just recommend getting some good quality headphones, disregarding if they are surround sound or stereo headphones, and buying dolby atmos or any other surround sound software? And if that's the case is windows sonic a decent enough software?
  6. My PC is currently detecting my headphones as speakers and I was wondering if that would have any discernible effect on the audio I may hear in video games or not. Thanks in advance for the help, and of course I'm open to providing more details.
  7. I know that the RX 580 at 1080p doesn't fully utilize the 8gb that it comes with and that it cant always hit 144 fps at the highest settings. I am perfectly fine with bumping some settings down to medium or so if ti means gaining some extra fluidity. My only question is, that in the case that there is only about a $30 difference between the 4gb and 8gb model, will I miss the extra 4gb in the long run? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UT7at2ufEac According to this video even at max settings it does not seems like those extra 4gb come into play. I know that some games initially upon release showed a great difference between the 4gb and 8gb variant, but I have heard that the data in these cases often even out after a few patches from the developers or some fresh drivers from AMD. Should I wait fro the 590 to release instead?
