  1. My favourite is the EDG750 PSU. Looks cool, fully modular and quiet. Will go well in my cousin's rig, he gets it if I win
  2. Even then, 24fps is more cinematic.
  3. @Preston know how it feels... I mean my internet can just barely keep up with 1080p 30fps videos, and I'm on an ethernet (well, ethernet over powerline) connection in a metropolitan area... haha
  4. The outright best 970 AFAIK is the Gigabyte G1 Gaming Windforce GTX 970. You definitely want the G1 if you can (versus the regular Windforce), because it has higher binning and comes with the sweet backplate, which not only looks cool but helps prevent sagging.
  5. I've always carried everything in my front pockets. It's safer and feels better to me 'cause you don't sit on whatever's in your pockets
  6. In that case just go with a Hyper 212, it should be cheaper. Or even just the stock cooler, if you can live without overclocking until you get your watercooling stuff.
  7. Well I think I've come up with a way for EVGA to increase their margins on their graphics cards...
  8. You could start by replacing any thumb screws with regular screws from a security point of view. Other than that I'm not sure how much you can do.
  9. Do an antivirus and antimalware scan (with Avast (my preference) or AVG or similar and Malwarebytes respectively) and see if they find anything.
  10. Just a random thought - check you haven't accidentally enabled dynamic super resolution or something? If you have then you might be trying to play at 4K on your 750Ti or something crazy like that
  11. I don't think people tend to hate on Apple so much, they hate more on the people who blindly follow Apple and the fact that Apple encourages this behaviour. Well that's how I see it anyway.
  12. That moment when you explain that a tablet is a computer...
  13. Reset or restart? I have to restart my router reasonably often and it doesn't change anything (although sometimes the IP changes which is annoying but can be worked around fairly easily).
  14. If it's a modular PSU it would be good to not need to redo all the cable management when you get the new unit.
  15. Usually it would be everything, however you should contact the manufacturer to check because if you don't need to then why bother
  16. Tomb Raider and Assassin's Creed games. I own Tomb Raider (2013) and Assassin's Creed IV from a steam sale but haven't played them much yet (on my list for the coming Aussie summer holidays) but they pretty much fit your description (without the explosions in ACIV though).
  17. No it's more like it detects faces on photos you've imported, asks you to name who the person is, then tags that person in all the photos where it detects the same face. Not quite that simple but it's not too bad. However I haven't actually used it myself (well I've put some names in but not everyone, nor have I actually tried searching for people with it). EDIT: And no it doesn't rename the file. So you'd have to find the photo in iPhoto, work out which file that is, then search for that file in Photoshop's import dialogue box.
  18. As long as it's between the 4K or 60fps, then 4K wins. Why? Because they don't do gameplay videos. On any of their channels. Maybe if they do start a gameplay channel then they can do some 60fps on that, but for now at least that channel doesn't exist. They record with an actual camera, meaning there's actual motion blur which means 30fps is actually totally fine. Sure 60fps is neat and i don't have a 4K monitor (nor the internet connection to support 4K streaming) however 4K is definitely the direction to go for the type of content they make.
  19. Side note - if you import all the photos into iPhoto, that has facial recognition. Don't know how good it is though. You can then find out from iPhoto the file name for that particular photo.
  20. Man that was lucky. You'd think that they'd list the GPU though if it was a 'high end' model though? (I'm assuming from your writing it was at least reasonably high end... my computer knowledge in 2000 was limited to playing crappy kids games that came on CDs that, as a little kid, I thought were the best thing ever).
  21. I was confused about this for a while but the more expensive one is the G1 Gaming and the cheaper one is the regular Windforce. Basically, the coolers are the same, but the G1 Gaming has a better binning process and comes with a backplate (which I don't think the regular Windforce comes with). They're also very good at not making this obvious by not showing you pictures of the back of the card for the regular Windforce.
  22. Yeah but he also says he likes "long stroke keys"... Anyway it's not worth arguing about.
  23. I don't think it's the not liking mechanical keyboards that's dumb, it's the reason behind it "slowly breaks your hands" ?
  24. Oh yeah, I didn't mean to sound like I thought you had some sort of "hate" of Microsoft Office, I just meant to point out that switching from MS to FOSS is usually not that bad, whereas Apple is a bit more different. You make a fair point though, there's no point in people pirating stuff when they can do pretty much whatever they want with FOSS stuff... and the only reason they don't use that stuff is probably because a) they don't know about it, b ) they haven't bothered to try it and don't realise how similar/good it is or c) they assume free=virus scam thing
  25. To be honest with the Microsoft stuff it's not so bad. I really like Microsoft's software and as long as I can continue to get it free or at low cost (legally - through school and next year Uni) I will continue to use it. However I find it's very easy to switch to other stuff, for example LibreOffice (which I use on my Gaming PC) or Google Docs/Sheets etc (which I use in conjunction with Microsoft Office on my MacBook for when I need to access stuff on multiple devices). Both LibreOffice and Google Apps use Microsoft's style and have similar or the same features, shortcuts etc. (to the point where I think I can safely refer to them collectively as "Microsoft clones" from now on) so I haven't really needed to learn anything. Maybe with some people who don't pick up tech stuff as intuitively it would be a little harder, but certainly far from impossible. However, when it comes to Apple stuff, it's night and day. We have to use MacBooks for school, so as a result we all have the iWork suite (although we were also given Office for Mac, due to familiarity etc.). Don't get me wrong - iWork's "Microsoft Equivalents" are actually really good too - I have a number of actual "techie" friends who are into Windows, PC Gaming etc. (two custom their PCs, one of them even has their MacBook dual booted with Linux... so you get the drill) who have switched to Pages/Keynote etc. and basically think along the lines of "Apple for my school stuff, Microsoft for my gaming stuff". I actually find my MacBook a lot more pleasant for doing school work too, but man, I tried switching to Pages and it's sooooo different. Keynote isn't so bad, but I decided I was wasting too much time in trying to switch to Pages so I've gone to Microsoft + "clones". But I feel for anyone already on Pages who is forced to switch to Microsoft or a "clone", they won't be able to.
