i setup my old laptop as a file server i guess you could say. it doesn't transfer very fast and im assuming it must be the hardrrive read/write but aside from that yesterday i was backing up a project that took 30 minutes durning the 30 minutes i couldn't even watch youtube without buffering every 2 seconds. then i tried another device and it said obtaining ip adress for like 5 minutes snd wouldn't connect but the file transfer didn't stop which is good. this morning i tried playing a game while downloading a 75mb video to my phone amd instantly got disconnected from my game and then like 10s later everything went offline. why does this happen? my internet speed may only be 10mbps down and 2 up but this lan the bandwidth limit should be the hardware not my isp

perhaps my router isn't compatible?

im not sure all ik is they rent routers but i dont wanna rent. i guess i could call them tomorrow

Local ISP called unwired broadband. i could get on the roof and look at the antenna for details if needed

i live in the country and i finally got internet and didn't know a modem was required and my router doesn't have one built in. i want to keep my router only need a modem. speeds are only looking like 6mbps (still a gift from God compared to .5 or less from my hotspot) since it's a wisp so i dont need the ultra gamer 5gbps modem lol. but i dont want to cheap out on ping

Well I plugged everything back in thankfully it left off where it stopped with the drive but now my msi monitor looks super bad and I'm guessing that might have to do with me disconnecting the drive and reconnecting it and it messed up my monitor profile inside the mai display kit

In 2017 I bought a pre-built and someone left a mouse or keyboard receiver in it rip orphaned mouse or keyboard

Ok i unplugged the drive completely and its much quieter but I can't tell if its because I took the drive out or because i have all the panels on both sides off I thought I heard it a little again but it went away after a little I also unplugged my external DVD player but it didn't grind on my other computer Edit i restarted again and this time I didn't hear anything I kinda want to put the drive back in to make sure but I don't want to damage it

Ok but also my hdd is covered in a mess of wires because I bought a non modular psu so if I unplug the mobo from the drive but the drive is still connected will the drive turn on because its powered or will it be off because it's not connected to anything

Well my ssd is an m.2 which is really hard to get to my hdd is just extra storage if I unplug it it should boot I assume I should be able to leave my ssd in as it has no moving parts so it cant be the problem right?

The case is less than 10 months the stock cooler is 14 months I'll check everything else out I checked the fans but I couldn't check my psu fan idk how

I got up this morning pressed the power button I hear the clicking of the parts and I can hear everything turning on like normal I went to go grab something else when I could hear a grinding sound I figured it was something outside but when I got closer it was my computer! The cpu cooler and the 3 intake fans looked like they were spinning fine but I couldn't see under my gpu and didn't look at the exhaust I grabbed my phone and started recording but when I shut off my pc first my screen went black then my mouse and keyboard then the fans spin super fast then everything stops but this time I can remember when but I think the grinding stopped when the keyboard and mouse turned off so maybe my gpu stops spinning then or worse the HDD??? hey so im looking for a desk that has enough room for my h700 case computer, single monitor but if i ever did go to 2 i would have enough room for it, my keyboard and mouse (duh) and some extra room for my vr sensors, headset, and controllers so im thinking maybe 55-60" would be good 45" would have my keyboard on the very edge of the table. under $200 i don't want drawers or anything, in fact here are some links to desks i like but are too much or too small too small too much here is what im looking at that might work https://eurekaergonomic.com/eureka-gaming-captain-series-gip-60-large-home-office-e-sports-computer-desk-erognomic-design-black/ (not a big fan of the mouse pad having branding all over the desk) so yeah, what do you guys have that might work

I have a UPS + surge protector that I've used for over a year and the powers been out quite a few times which I've been able to turn my pc off because of my UPS which is nice although today I learned about line conditioners and after I've searched on the internet I hear some saying you need it and others saying your UPS already does it so I'm confused I just don't want my pc to break if something happens

hey so my razer keyboard is just about dead so i need a new one asap requirements: - under 100 - cherry mx blue or red whichever one is that satisfying click - is a flat deck with the switches on top not inside the board like my razer chroma v2 keyboard is - would like a 100% but can settle for less also anyone know what todo with a semi unresponsive board? i tried cleaning it and now the keys press weird and i hate it more

Btw taking the keycaps off doesn't change anything but I still cleaned them

So basically I didn't have any issues for the 2+ years I've had then like a month ago the m key would not register like 2% of the time then the g key and then all these keys I'd say about 2/3 of my keys have some level of this The d and enter key are the worst and don't work 3/4 of the time Any fix?

I do have a chrome cast but I never use it can I used it for any screen? Like I said for vr and stuff

so is there a program that can do it better?

I want to play VR and cast it onto the TV so like if I have people over we can watch each other play the only thing is i can't get the built in "connect" feature to work! when I click on the TV when it pops my computer just says connecting for like 3 minutes then just fails do I have to disconnect from the wifi?

Update: I can find tons of rift cv1's for like -300 But people told me to get the rift s which is sold out and I was thinking maybe the vibe? I can find a few under $300 But I don't know if I should wait for a rift s new for $400 If it ever comes back in stock If I should just buy a rift cv1 or vive. I have a pc that will work and the only things I'll do on it is Minecraft and beat saber and maybe few other stuff but Idk yet because I've never played any sort of vr game. Also with the rift cv1 only being hd won't that look super pixelated?
