Hmm, now that is weird, maybe the battery connector got loose before? It's hard to advise anything without seeing the actual thing. If the battery connector is not loose, then maybe it was just out of juice.

Since it is turned on now, it means that it is not shorted. Then I'd shut down the laptop and try to plug the battery again. Make sure that the battery connector is clean and you don't have sweaty hands while plugging it.

I plugged the battery in and it works

So I'm not sure what happened

Each laptop model, not only brand, has different ways of connecting the battery to the motherboard, at least from experience. So just unplug any cable that is connected to the chassis and the battery before doing anything.

But since you did not do any of that, I'd advise you to go to a service center and ask them to take a look, you need special tools to see if the motherboard is truly shorted.

Did anything light up when when you first press the power button? If so, and then it immediately shut down, probably shorted something.

Battery is fully unplugged and the laptop now works and turns on. So just a battery issue? What now

I didn't see anything that I know of. No fans for sure if it did try to turn on it was a light on the side but I didn't see. Now like I said it's completely cold

I assume you have a rather old laptop since you have to install an ssd to it.

Did you reconnect the battery to the motherboard? Or did you reconnect every cable to the motherboard? Try to plug the laptop to the charger and see if it is starts.

If you did not disconnect the battery, I heard that it is quite common for laptops being shorted due to disassembly without disconnecting the battery and flushing the remaining charge. I learnt this from a service center.

Oh no I didn't know about that last bit.

I haven't unplugged anything. What would you recommend I do? Unplug the 3 cables connecting the battery?

Depends on your time and energy. I'd just say F it and be without an f5 key. I use the click to refresh for browsers anyhow like an old man.

I'd rather have f5 tho. I got it open and the top socket isn't connected to the bridge thing. Ik a simple solder is all it needs but I can't or don't have the tools to solder that small. Is there anyway to like tape it down so it is forced to make contact?

  6. I finally built a keyboard since no matter what pre built i get it stops being usable after 2 years and with custom I can switch out any of the parts if needed however my f5 key was unresponsive and I notice when installing the switch it is a lot easier I then saw that the sockets are slightly lower I got a small metal right angle thing and put it through the main hole and sure enough the entire thing is loose.

I have 3 options, maybe send it back if it's their fault but that would leave me almost a month without a keyboard and a lot of work, open the back up and fix it with tape or solder depends but I don't really care if it works it works.

Or not have an f5 key 😕

my biggest problem is I cannot figure out how to get the kase open I don't want to break it but I think once you take the 4 screws out you push on like the white thing on the inside and it pops off? But I feel like I could easily break the top cover doing that.

  7. I went out and recorded some cool videos on 2 gopros and while i was watching the 360 footage and editing it i told my brother to filter the hero 5 footage and then he deleted all the good videos I dont know why but i haven't used the sd card since so it hasn't been written but every program ive tried either cannot find the video (free search) or a deep search which does find it but wants to charge me like $70 to recover it. and there isn't even a way to tell if the videos actually work so im not gonna pay for it neither is the video worth $70 to me

Are you looking for low profile switches or a low profile case? The Ctrl you mentioned has normal profile switches and a low profile case

in that case low case i like ful size switches but at this point idk maybe im asking too much and ill have to go with a normal case but i just love the look of the ctrl

  9. first my razor in mid 2020 now my apex 7 tkl are becoming unresponsive. I want a board that wont break on me.

the ctrl look PERFECT but apparently it's overpriced. then i saw the Everest core but i dont like a lot of things about it.

i want one that is low profile so i dont get tons of build up in the deck. I dont know if i should go with a "gaming" keyboard which would be like the razors and corsairs or the lesser known ones that the mech keyboard community loves but i find it hard to like any of those that are under $200

ask them, say hey I have a problem I want to send it back don't know if you can reproduce but see that picture that happens.

    have to ask them.

the point is are they going to check if there is something wrong with it? or are they like Amazon garbage bin.

if something is wrong with it they send it back. and you get a replacement.

and for testing for 2 weeks before sending the new one back. you dont need a top of the line gpu

wait so if it's RMA they will send me a new gpu not just money back? but are 2080s even still made how will that work. and they wont keep the broken gpu?!

  11. 2 hours ago, SamClan said:

well you could try send it back and you will see what happens, in the mean time you could buy a spare GPU and sent it back before the 2 week mark is over (amazon)

and while you have that new gpu and your "Old" is in warranty you will see if the new one has the same problem.

how much would it cost to ship this and what if they can't find anything wrong with it.
or if they can't find anything wrong with it but there is something wrong with it.
and how do i buy another gpu!? they cost wayyyy more than they are worth

I woiuld normally run it for like 20 min.

this one is the best option you have to figure out if it is your GPU

i dont have another pc to test it on tho

my specs are on my profile but when i was building the pc i was told 550 would be fine so thats why im getting this. and my battery backup is only 550 and that is what is beeping
