  1. Ok, so my Antec PSU works fine and I was able to install Windows 10. Seems like I also need to buy a new PSU
  2. Hey guys, so I'm in the process of buildung a new PC for my dad. Today all the parts arrived, I put everything together and tried to install windows 10 from a USB stick, but the system just turns off. I see the dotted circle moving indicating that the installation loads and then it just restarts. I ran memtest86 and it's fine. So I suspected that it has to do with these C6/C7 Haswell Low Power states, because I used an old PSU I still had lying around. So I went to the BIOS and turned off "Intel C-State". This helped a little. I am now able to get the windows installer to load but after about 1 minute it restarts again. It doesn't matter what you do. No problems while doing the Memtest, no problem just idling in the BIOS. Could this have something to do with the PSU not supporting these Haswell Low Power states? I thought that you could just turn them off in the BIOS. Unfortunately the only other PSU I have is in my own PC (Antec High Current Gamer HCG-620 ATX 2.3). It is a little newer, but as far as I know still doesn't support Haswell. Specs: CPU: Intel Core i3 7100 2x 3.90GHz MB: MSI B250M PRO-VDH Intel B250 (BIOS Version: E7A70IMS.A10) RAM: 8GB (2x 4096MB) G.Skill Value 4 DDR4-2133 SSD: 250GB Samsung 960 Evo M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe HDD: 1000GB WD Blue WD10JPVX 5.400U/min 8MB 2.5" PSU: Corsair Enthusiast Series VX550 550W ATX 2.2
  3. Unfortunately it isn't. It's 2.5 years old and a quick google search revealed that Gainward isn't exactly forthcoming when it comes to warranty.
  4. Ok, so I think I have a dead graphics card, but I thought I'd ask you guys if you have any other ideas, or if you think I missed something. System specs: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 Gainward GTX 970 Phantom not overclocked i5 3570k @4.2GHz 8GB Corsair Antec High Current Gamer 620W Main screen: X-Star DP2710 1440p connected over DVI port on the graphics card (Doesn't work over onboard graphics) TV: LG 47" connected over onboard HDMI port. Windows 10 Here is what happened: I updated the Nvidia drivers to the latest version (378.78) over Geforce Experience. A few hours later, I started up World of Tanks (WOT) and played a few games (about an hour). Just when I started a new game my screen turned black and PC was totally frozen. I did a hard reset and opened WOT again. I loaded into the game again, and soon after the same thing happened again. So I did another hard reset. After that I started WOT with default graphics settings and it opened in windowed mode on my TV which I have connected via a log HDMI cable. After fiddling around in the graphics settings for a few minutes I finally managed to start the game in full screen on my main screen. Then immediately after loading the game, the pc froze again. So, another hard reset. But now my main screen wouldn't turn on anymore. However, the TV worked fine. Speedfan (which I use to control my fans) didn't even recognize the GPU anymore, but fans were spinning. I downloaded the drivers from the website and installed them again. Didn't work. Installed the previous drivers, didn't work. Around that time, I couldn't even get it to post anymore. The mainboard showed error code 62 which is "Installation of the South Bridge Runtime Services". So I cleared CMOS. Nothing. Removed the battery for half an hour. Nothing. Removed the graphics card and it booted up fine (On my TV). I uninstalled all Nvidia drivers, went to bed, and the next morning I put in the graphics card again, and it worked. My main screen was turning on. I installed the previous driver version and everything was fine for a couple of hours. After returning to my desk my main screen was black again and the pc frozen - hard reset - no post (error 62). I tried pretty much everything: Used a driver remover tool by Guru3D, checked and reseated all internal cables, changed the display cables around, checked voltage on pcie cables, used molex to pcie connectors instead of the native pcie connectors, tried a different pcie slot, tried a 1x wireless network card in the 16x slot, did a bios update, disconnected everything (drives, usb cables, internal headers), changed RAM sticks around, checked the card for visible damage - all error 62 when the card is installed. Then I set the main graphics controller in the BIOS from pcie to onboard, and now I can get it to post and boot up while the card is installed. But the screen is still black and the card isn't recognized by Windows. Then I installed the card in another system which my dad still uses (p7n sli platinum board, core2duo e6700 and a GeForce 8800GT, 4GB RAM, Windows 10). So I pulled out the 8800GT, installed my 970 and the system booted right up. I installed the drivers, did a couple of reboots, everything works. Then I loaded up Furmark and the second I clicked go, the system froze. Hard Reset and then what I think was a no POST (No error code or onboard graphics on that board. But I don't think windows loaded up). Right now, I am installing a backup on that system from before to see if I can replicate it, but I don't have high hopes... If I do, I want to try to load a new BIOS onto the card and see if that helps. Do you guys think the card is toast, or is there something I have missed? Is it just a coincidence that it happened on the same day I did a driver update? I am greatful for any help, as I don't really have the cash to buy a new card. And using a 47" TV as my main screen is not the greatest.... (The korean monitor doesn't work with onboard)
  5. I run a GTX 970, but I'm looking into building a media pc.
  6. I had high hopes for this, but the price is simply ridiculous. When changing the country to Germany the price changes to 699€ without shipping. I suspect the 19% tax will be on top of that so the total is about 830€. I guess it will be another 1-2 years before VR really catches on and it will be affordable for the masses.
  7. Seems perfect for a Media PC next to the TV. Thanks Zotac!

  9. I like the PSU best, because of the beast efficiency. Thanks for the giveaway guys!
  10. I really like the extreme's design and the backplate. About the 900 series I love that it isn't so power hungry anmore. Electricity is expensive in Germany... Thanks for the giveaway!
  11. Hey looney, do you know if tRAID runs with ALL functionality under windows 8.1? I'm asking because currently I'm running Raid-F on Win 8.1 and thumbnails and network shares don't work at the same time. (See my posts here and here to which I never got an answer by Brahim) I'm really sick of this and considering to buy a tRAID licence, since Raid-F probably won't get any more updates. I'd really hate to invest any more money in this since other users have the same problem too and it is clearly bug in the program. I would change to a different solution but a dedicated file server is too expensive and as far as I know, other software RAID solutions (for example Windows Storage Spaces) need empty discs for initialization, which I don't have.
  12. On the German corsair support forum they just announced that the K70 with blue and brown switches and German layout will be available at the beginning of October. Source: http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=121811 Hooray!
  13. I run a 5 drive Flexraid with about 7TB of storage (which is already almost full again ). Because I have big static media files it was a better choice for me than a RAID5 as it's safer, easier to set up and you can use your old drives all while keeping the data on those drives. Thanks again looney who helped me out with a few questions I had. I also do a weekly backup of my boot-SSD to the Flexraid and an external drive. 14. Do you have a source for that? Because this is the first time I'm hearing this. I'm also from Germany, and I've been waiting for this keyboard for months.
