Ok so AGAIN Linus !!.. PLEASE!! ..do atleast SOME research before regurgitating old information about 'burn-in'.

'Gamers' for the most part do NOT need to worry about burn-in. You would have to be playing some rather specific titles, and for very long extened session, multiple times for at least a YEAR befor 'burn-in' starts to become noticable on flat single color backgrounds, and even longer befor its noticable on normal moving images.

YES 'burn-in' still exists. Yes those who watch nothing but news channels and sports channels should avoid OLED, but please stop spreading the incorrect information that OLED should not be used for gaming. They are perfectly fine for the average person to game on. maybe not a professional or hardcore Fifa 18 players for example, due to the high contrast static UI, but for 'normal' gamers with a varied catalogue of games and 'normal' length gaming sessions,, an OLED panel is perfectly acceptable.

rtings.com has and is still doing a burn-in test in real world scenarios, it took the equivalent of a years worth gaming the same game over and over again (fifa) for slight 'burn-in' to occure. Thats a worst case game, and in a situation where all that screen ever saw was that game and nothing else.

Temporary image retention is a thing, somthing the average user, maybe urself, can miss identify as permanant burn in, but that goes away after 10-30 minutes depending on how strong it is.

OLED isnt perfect but its a dman sight better than anything LCD has going. It should be a serious consideration for any1 willign to spend 1k+ on a screen. And yes even for gaming and PC use.

Until self emisive micro LED becomes available, OLED is the best there is, your not helping the industry and consumers by harming OLEDs reputation with these kind of comments about 'burn-in'.

I write this using an old Panasonic Plasma 42" TV that has only ever been used for my PC. Im a PC enthusiast and spend alot of time playing games. It has no burn in. And yet people still say 'Plasma' was no good for gaming and PC use due to brun-in, just as they say for OLED. its utter bollocks. Can it burn in? sure, but only if u abuse it, any1 willing to spend over 1k on a screen shouldnt be abusing it unless they are ok with 'burning' money.

    Ok rant over.
