Well, got into the BIOS. I have a multimonitor setup with this. I rearranged the two cables between the ports on the GPU and now I can actually read what's in the BIOS. Wondering if it's a dead/dying port?

Bumping this thread, but I'm not having any issues so far after running several benchmarks with the new PSU. Going to try and see if I can access the motherboard BIOS.

Here's the issues I'm having: - Random shutdowns not caused by a bluescreen, sudden. I'll hear the PSU click and then it just reboots. It's not overcurrent protection and it's intermittent, so I'm not sure what's going on. I have a spare PSU in it right now just for testing from a friend. - Sometimes these reboots will get locked in a POST state, 2 lights on the motherboard, can't tell which ones but it isn't consistent. - Graphics card showing signs of failure, artifacting on the desktop occasionally, just random black splotches showing up for a split second and then going away. - Another thing that happens is whenever I try to go into the BIOS of the motherboard, all I get is a bunch of what looks like blue, purple, and green lines all over the screen. Not sure if that means the motherboard is dead as wel. Any ideas on how to test further without damaging anything else or should I just throw in the towel and rebuild?

Looking to buy some new in-ear headphones to replace my 1st gen AirPods Pro finally, the ANC on those has been acting up for a while and I'm finally sick of it. I've narrowed down my search to the 2nd gen AirPods Pro and the Status Between 3ANC headphones. Both seem like good options, both for different reasons. I do daily drive an iPhone so that's one reason why I'm considering just getting the newer airpods, but the Status headphones do seem to offer better sound quality and/or noise isolation but I am not sure yet. Anyone have them/tried them currently? Curious on any opinions for them. If you have any recommendations for other earbuds like those within the same price range I'm also open to those

Don't think they'll have noticed at 6:35 in the morning local time. Guess we'll have to wait and see if this is a fluke or another hack occured.

Which server software to use
Budgetclocker replied to SorenHansen's topic in Servers, NAS, and Home Lab
If you can't really decide on a dedicated OS but you like Linux, I'd personally recommend Proxmox. Similar to VMWare, in the fact that it's designed to host virtual machines. However, it's Full Debian and open source. It's not perfect, but it's free.99, and very nice. -
truenas Adding 2nd TrueNAS iSCSI Target to VMWare
Budgetclocker replied to Budgetclocker's topic in Servers, NAS, and Home Lab
None, IQN's should be allowed and everything is all set up on the networking side. I suppose I should explain what I'm trying to do a bit more. Currently, I already have a TrueNAS box hooked up to this VMWare cluster. I am attempting to attach a second TrueNAS box via iSCSI for temporary data migration to the second box, so I can redo the configuration on the original TrueNAS RAID configuration without destroying the data. I'm not sure why, but for some strange reason trying to put a second iSCSI target on VMWare ESXi does not work. I can ping it from the VMWare hosts, and after some work last night, they can see it as an iSCSI target. However, when I try to attach them on iSCSI, it doesn't do it. I changed up the IQN's to make sure there wasn't a name conflict, and everything seems to be okay in that regard. There shouldn't be an issue with adding the 2nd box, but there is. If anyone has a clue what this is, please advise. If anyone has done something similar and has some experience, please advise. -
truenas Adding 2nd TrueNAS iSCSI Target to VMWare
Budgetclocker replied to Budgetclocker's topic in Servers, NAS, and Home Lab
Yes, I did. iSCSI is all set up and ready to go, but for some reason, the VMWare clients are not seeing this iSCSI target when trying to add it. -
Picked up an old Cisco 5505 ASA to mess around with, and for some reason it will not recognize my Thunderbolt 3 dock when plugging in. I have internet access just fine and can use PuTTy to get in through management okay, it's just not giving me internet on my Thunderbolt 3 dock. Any idea why this might be?

Windows AD System ID error cloned VMs
Budgetclocker replied to Budgetclocker's topic in Servers, NAS, and Home Lab
Bumping this, but the way I cloned the VM was using ESXi's built in tool for cloning. I went ahead and just made a new one, thanks for the assistance though. -
Hello again. Bunch of random posts going on here from yours truly, but that cannot be helped. I have a chassis for an EMC VNX 5100. Very old, but I have access and want to use it for storage. However, I have had some issues with connecting to the box itself. The box itself is on the network at its default address (192.168.1.1), however, it refuses to connect. After doing a port scan I found out that EVERY SINGLE PORT is closed. I have no idea why, but it is. The only other way to connect to it is through a proprietary serial connector (image attached) by setting it up with a Dial-up connection on Windows 7. The only problem is this cable doesn't work. Dell forums don't seem to be much help, and I can't find any helpful documentation on this. Any ideas/advice? Also I have not been able to find where to get this specific connection, as it appears to be proprietary.

Windows AD System ID error cloned VMs
Budgetclocker replied to Budgetclocker's topic in Servers, NAS, and Home Lab
I cloned the VM before even setting up AD, so that shouldn't be the issue -
Trying to add another computer to a Windows AD group, but because I cloned it it won't add properly. How do I change the SID of both computers to make it work?

Central Windows Update Management

Only issue here is I'm running this in a ProxMox cluster, how would that work when selecting the server pool? -

Any links to some tutorials? might spin up an instance later to see if I can get it working on my cluster. -
I'm looking for a way to centrally manage and deploy Windows updates for multiple servers/VMs, specifically a way to download updates once and then deploy them locally across my network. Sort of like how a Steam cache works. Are any good systems out there for doing that?

I recently started using IntelliJ for my programming classes at Uni, and I'm looking for a way to benchmark the compile speed of my computer with larger projects. Are there any good benchmarking solutions I can use to measure compile speed?
