  1. Years ago I'd found an article that told of HP power adaptors that would detect how much voltage was needed (provided they have enough amps) and set themselves accordingly. I'd then made an universal adaptor for testing and running any laptop using those universal charger tips and everything worked from 16v IBM/Lenovo to 19v standard everyone else uses... Today I'd googled the voltage range and can not find this info anymore, is this knowledge lost? It is strange to me. I could verify this by plugging it into some various voltage devices with a multimeter and find out if the internal regulator of the machines are soaking up the excess, and the HP charger is quietly singing at 19 or so. What do you all think? Was I just being lucky or are certain older adaptors indeed universal? Thanks for your time. BTW I don't believe in "necro" posts, as information never dies, and new ideas do spring from old ones, please do not attempt to shame me on this.
  2. I'm all for not bricking good working hardware, but maybe this is just me? At any rate, it is likely possible, but I just wouldn't want to try it. There's not enough hardware out there for people at this point. What I was asking, is if it wouldn't be cooler to sell the ram you are about to gut, and buy two more sticks that work for you. Do as you like, though, it is yours.

    .

I find that one stick of RAM sometimes goes insane, and needs to be quarantined. Try (if u do have more than one) taking one out, plugging it back in, and trying it. That doesn't work? switch it out with the other one. A simple thing to try. I second the idea of taking them out and putting them back in, this sometimes works too. Cheers!
  4. Just found 2 of these without CPU or PSUs... for 130 locally :D I may just get one for 80 and save my monies for a CPU- next will be research on what CPU they take and maybe see if anyone made an adaptor to this "12v standard" or whatever is going on- maybe even solder my own LoL. I've seen these Ryzen CPUs show up on benchmarks so there's that.
  5. How about now? I wanna hook up 5 2 channel amps or whatever or even use my discreet 7.1 input and maybe another amp and a couple subs to piece together a budget atmosphere setup, all I need I suppose, will be a sound card capable- maybe a thing that uses a couple sound cards and map the channels through both 7 channel cards? Hasn't this been done yet?! BTW keep yet stick on the ice (American trying to relate to you Canadian duck tape users)
  6. Hi, first post here :D I came across this "Legitimate Fake" on Ebay, and was curious. Googling around brought me to my favorite youtube hardware geek resource. Linus! LMK what you guys make of this? I was in rapt attention for your Optiplex gamer build, which is extremely promising for cheap ass gamers like myself! and thanks. https://www.ebay.com/itm/GTX780-Desktops-Graphics-4GB-DDR5-Game-Video-Cards-PCI-Express-Gaming/183415623320?hash=item2ab46c4e98:g:EusAAOSwAm9bvxmh
