  1. Hi everyone, I need some help here. I've been using a Lenovo laptop for almost three years now and I'm currently studying mechanics and aerodynamics to become an engineer in France. However I have a huge issue, I started taking notes in class using my laptop and as it's a gaming laptop, battery life isn't its main feature. Therefore I enabled the integrated graphics (Intel) in it to gain some autonomy when using it on battery. But I often play videogames and therefore I plug in my laptop and want to use the dedicated graphics of my laptop (Nvidia GTX 1660Ti). Here's my issue, I can't see any settings to fully switch from only dedicated graphics when plugged in to only integrated ones when on battery and backwards automatically. Has someone already figured it out and/or cooked a solution/script to automatize this toggle switch? Thanks in advance for your answers.
  2. No those windows don't disappear when right clicking the desktop, the only way to make them disappear is minimizing normally the application (with the _ ) or quitting the application. I have updated all of my system and its drivers before upgrading. I run the latest updates of every piece of hardware running on my computer. Do you think the difference between a Windows 10 Nvidia driver and the Windows 11 version of it will change anything or not ?
  3. Hi to everyone, Recently I've upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11 (I know it's not optimal), and I have a strange issue with the window management of Windows 11. I explain it : when I minimize to tray an application (e.g. clicking the X on Discord's window), somehow Windows manage to either create an image of the application which won't disappear, or the location of the minimized window will be covered black or white (see attachments before and after minimizing to tray). Has anyone encountered this issue ? Is it a known issue ? and can someone bring me a fix for it ? Thanks in advance.
  4. Ok, I found out there was a driver update that Windows Update didn't caught. I'll come back if it happens again. Windows Update is a bit stupid sometimes (I meant often). Thanks
  5. Hi everyone, I got a problem, when I'm shutting down my laptop with ethernet plugged-in and start it again without ethernet plugged-in, my Wi-Fi won't work. No error message, nor BSOD or else. Lenovo Legion Y540-15IRH Windows 10 64bit, 2004 Update i7-9750H 16GB RAM GTX 1660Ti (Mobile) 6GB Micron 512GB SSD All drivers are up-to-date.
  6. That's what I was thinking, I now hope it will survive the next two months until I get a new one. Thanks for your answer
  7. I'll try removing the battery. Anyways I'll get a new in the next two months so... I just hope my laptop will survive until then. Thanks for your advice and support for my laptop
  8. Hi everyone, My computer often shows a notification with : "Battery Low". This notification appears and then disappears almost instantaneously. The problem is : my laptop's always plugged in.... *sad noises* Something else is strange : my computer crashes randomly to a black screen, complete shut down and no restart (unless I start it by myself, pushing the power button).... Thermals are high but not too much, just reaching 90°C (max temp = 100°C) at peek use (Minecraft + Minecraft server [4 players] + Discord + Spotify in background). Can someone help me find what is going on here ? My laptop is a bit old (6 years this November), I don't consider buying a new one for now (I'm gonna go in engineering studies so I'll wait until a school tells me what computer specs to choose). Tell me if you already had this problem and if you could help me. FYI : I already changed the thermal paste (November 2019), I changed from 8GB to 12GB of DDR3 RAM (4GB soldered + 4GB on stick, to 4GB soldered + 8GB on stick so now it is single-channel), I cleaned my computer and removed every bit of dust in it, all my drivers are the latest available, my BIOS is updated to its latest available version too, I already changed my battery once 2 years ago (the original is dead). I really need help. Please consider helping me or just giving me an advice and/or some feedback from your experience.
  9. To anyone who'll read this topic, Recently, my laptop started to shut down randomly, at anytime and the most dramatic : on any software, even on Microsoft Word. I downloaded CoreTemp to check if my CPU was burning or something else, because my laptop shut down in games (which were very performance consuming). But earlier this morning (I'm in France), my computer just shut down while I was editing text on Word. Now I panic... Did anyone already have this issue in the past ? Did they solve it ? If yes, please tell me how. Thanks to whoever read my topic, I appreciate any sort of help. My laptop configuration can be seen on my profile.
  10. Problem solved, don't know what happened
  11. Solved, Idk what the fuck was my computer doing
  12. Good evening people, I have a big problem. Once I shut down my laptop normally, and I want to start it up again... It doesn't. I unplug the charger, nothing. I then close the lid to unplug the battery and plug the charger alone, nothing. So I unplug a second time the charger, and close the lid again to plug back the battery. And when I open the lid after plugging again the battery it magically turns on (without any given reason). Anyone could tell me what's the problem ? P.S. : I thought 'Cases and Power Supplies' category seemed to be the good category concerning power issues. Thanks to those who will answer me.
  13. Good evening to everyone who will read that topic, Well my laptop has a HUGE problem (on a scale of 1 to 10... that's 11). When I play a game named Stormworks with Spotify streaming in the background (window opened, coz I have two screens), my laptop just shuts completely off with a black screen, no blue screen, and no option but to start it again manually (pushing the power button, obvious). However I asked the Discord of the game community and no one have ever had the same issue as I had. So it's coming from something else. I searched on the internet but every website just repeat the same as I scroll through them : - thermal problems, but I already changed the thermal paste to a new one (my laptop is from 2015) ; - memory problems, I upgraded my RAM from 8GB to 12GB recently but it was ultra stable until a few days ; - power supply overheat, it was a little hot but not burning as hell. Then I have another problem (and I think it is linked or the source from the previous one), when I shut my laptop down, my computer just beeps with a ultra-high-pitched very-low-volume sound (I have to stick my ear on the chassis) [when battery is unplugged there is no sound]. I disassembled my laptop trying to search the source of this sound and it seems that's coming from the motherboard but not close to the CPU nor the GPU. So well right now I'm trying things like playing with Spotify and HWMonitor to take a look at the temperature but my CPU doesn't hit the 100°C degrees maximum operating temperature (it hits in fact only 96°C without the black screen crash). So now I don't know what's going on. Hope someone could help me troubleshoot and solve this mystery from my laptop, all my specifications are in my profile description. Please, help me!
  14. Even if it is soldered to the motherboard next to the CPU ???
