    No worries. 🙂
Yeah, 250 may be fine. It's a bit much for my PSU, but thats a Me-problem and not an Us-problem.

That is where I stand as well. It's so close now that holding out will at least prevent too much FOMO, and then one can make a decision when all cards are on the table

Depends. There are two models of the C Gold 850w. The V1 with SKU NP-C850M is made by Seasonic and EOL for a year now. PA-8G1BB is the V2 (or 2022) version and is made by CWT. The CWT version is the better unit which I prefer over the GX-750 and RM750x too.

Sorry for the late reply, I'v just been swamped today.  The CPU, GPU and Motherboard cables are sleeved. Quite nicely too.
They aint too stiff. I had no issues bending them around.

This is why I'm tempted to hold out, Id really prefer a 12gb card. IIRC, the 7600 is rated for around 160w. 300w would seem a bit on the high side, so I'd agree those will probably be in the 250w range, +/- 7%.

Yes, I'm necro'ing this, because it's a very big mountain to conquer and DnF accomplished what few have.

Congrats to you DnFx91. I forgot that I did the same back in 2015. It was a TOTAL PITA. Took me about 2 weeks, every night, 3-4 hours each night, to pull this off using a single HDD and no bootcamp, Many hours of my life were wasted just to say I did it. I don't even remember what the system specs/hardware are. I put the Winuxtosh in my spare closet when I was done and haven't touched it since.
I had some sound driver issues iirc that I was never able to remedy.
Yes that's called a CRT kids. I also like working on my computers on the floor/carpet. I also have cats and don't use a grounding strap.
    I'm old, don't judge me.

I use OHM's gadget to monitor stuff. It's a widget you can customize to show whatever you need.

    Here's a screenshot of it:

In order to turn it on you have to click on view and then "show gadget". After that, just right click something you want to monitor and select "show in gadget".

You can also customize the gadget by right-clicking it or if you want to rename stuff just right-click it in OHM and click in "rename".

DxO had a promotion a few years ago where you could download an older version for free. If you've got an older camera, it might make sense to keep an eye on their website. I tried it out and it's pretty good. I'd say it's about on par with Capture One for most purposes, though there are probably some more special features in one or the other that may sway one's decision. I primarily use Capture One these days and am trying to get used to Affinity Photo as a photoshop replacement after Adobe killed my CS5 license.

I paid $60 for my B450, new, from Microcenter.

But I suppose for "mom & dad buying 14yo Jerry" a "gaming" PC, it isn't that bad. There's worse to be had, and probably better, for that kind of money in a pre-built.

It's an HP, granted a "well reputed, long time, PC company", but ponder how much of it is proprietary and how bad the QC and cable management is.

The Nexus "Walmart Gaming PC: How to Do Everything Wrong" vid I watched was enough. As a 41yo father of 4, if my kid said to me, "Hey dad, I want a cheap gaming rig for Christmas!", I know better than to buy a pre-built from Walmart.

Grandparents get a pass on this. But there's no excuse in this day and age for a parent to buy their kid a gaming PC from Walmart of all places.

Call me a nit-picky old fart...but that's just me. I'd never buy my kid that turd of a boat anchor, and would much rather buy him/her the parts, wrap each one, and spend a Saturday showing them how to build it.

More presents to unwrap + spending time with your kid to build it = priceless

I had that problem with a Dell monitor. One of my side monitors died and my wife had a spare she never used, but she buys cheap monitors and doesn't think about stuff like mounting so it didn't have a vesa mount. I searched online for the model and vesa, and found a custom site that makes adapters for various monitors. Wasn't cheap, but I had to have it to mount to my monitor arm. It was like $20-30.

I'd try using some steel sheets from lowes or home depot depending on how heavy the lil monitor is. 4"x12" pieces are only about $10

More CudaCores goes a long way, Which is why I was on my 980Ti for a while cause it had more CudaCores than a 1080, but I went for the 1080 Ti shortly after it launched.

That said any 10 series card 1060 6GB and up will get the job done.

Yep, I'd get a switch tester. This is how started out before I ever bought a whole keyboard. That KBDfans one is nice. Another option would be https://novelkeys.xyz/collections/switch-testers where you can customize it and pick the exact keys you want to test.

Zealios are compatible with any keycap meant for Chery MX switches, which is 99% of what is out there. The GMMK comes with caps if you choose to add them. I can't speak to the quality of those caps, never felt them personally, though you'll probably find something nicer on KBDfans.

Compassionate Homicide reacted to geo3 in Anything more tactile, but still quiet like Browns, for gaming?
Short for stabilizer. It's a mechanism that goes under the longer switches like space, shift, enter and backspace. These keys are too long to be supported by just their switch. Without a stabilizer if you pressed them anywhere but dead center it would torque the key and mess up the press and possibly damage the key over time. The stabilizer evenly distributes the force across the key no matter where you press it.

People mod them because bad ones can mess with the feel or sound of those longer keys. Most commonly people lube them to get rid of the rattle. Out right replacing them without completely disassembling the keyboard is very difficult. Worrying about stabs is a very nitpicky thing that enthusiasts do. If you never noticed this before I wouldn't give it a second thought.

They are purple, but no one call's them that.  Yes I have compared them. I have a few boards with Zealios in them. Also have Cherry browns in a switch tester.

Yes Kailh Browns are somewhat sharper, they are also heavier than Cherry.

The Box switches are quite different. The tactile bump is much higher and more pronounced than on Cherrys.

If Clears are too heavy then 62g Zealios are a nice choice. They are about as heavy as a MX Brown but more tactile.

MX Clear, Zealios, Outemu Sky v2.1 or v2.2, Kailh Box Royal (or any of their box switches, but the Royal is the most tactile).

It's quite difficult to find boards with these switches in them however. You can either build a custom, or go with a hotswapable keyboard. If you're not used to soldering then I definitely recommend going hotswap.

The GMMK, https://www.pcgamingrace.com/products/gmmk-full-customized, is a really nice hotswap option. The have both fullsize and TLK.

I would have reserved one for myself, but I've been spending money left and right on my remodel and need to allocate most of my "non-emergency" funds to the reno and I also bought in on a Samsung Pay/BestBuy deal, Samsung pay did a 30% cashback from Best Buy purchases the other day (capped at $100) and Bestbuy has the 10TB Western Digital Easyshare (or something like that) External Drives for $180 (normally $300) which are "shuckable" so I ordered a pair and will be using them as game drives / video storage drives in my gaming Desktop that until now has been limited to a 256GB M.2 SSD while I have 30+ Steam Games.
