  1. Im curious how well the 7600xt or 7700 will run 1440p natively. It just occurred to me that I'm upgrading one of my monitors and the one I'm looking at is 1440. From what I've read, the base 7600 doesn't do well natively at 1440 and fsr2 isn't widely supported. I really wanted to avoid nVidia after what went down with EVGA and now it looks like a 4060 or ti might be an option.
  2. This is why I'm tempted to hold out, Id really prefer a 12gb card. IIRC, the 7600 is rated for around 160w. 300w would seem a bit on the high side, so I'd agree those will probably be in the 250w range, +/- 7%.
  3. That's not too bad. New psu should handle that fine...if I can be patient enough to wait for the release.
  4. I've been suspecting September myself. What about the rumored power consumption? I haven't heard anything about that.
  5. Oh I know it wouldn't have an effect on games or productivity. All three are solid PSU's. Are the cables on the RMx sleeved, or unsleeved and flat?
  6. I was heavily considering the RMx at first. I've heard the cables tend to be stiffer and less manageable than the Seasonic though. But I also read HERE that Seasonic had technical issues with their cables. I know all three are "A" tier, so they're all very viable options. Easier cable management would be a plus though, as my case is pretty full. Two SSD's, three HDD's, single 5.25 bay slim DVD burner / hot swappable SATA bay combo, seven case fans and a nh-u14s with dual fans in push pull. Upgraded my case a few months ago and need to update my profile.
  7. Time to retire my old trusty Thermaltake TR2 850w and upgrade. Which one and why? I'm leaning towards the NZXT so I have a little extra juice on hand in the future. Is it true Seasonic makes these? Thanks!
  8. Phew, been a long time since I posted. Anyways, as per title, is there any speculation when one of these cards may be released? I know there were rumors the 7600xt was supposed to come out in May, but that ship has sailed. I'm looking to finally upgrade from a 1060, but would really hate to grab a 7600 this week only to see one of these released in two weeks. Inb4 get a 6700/6750 xt. Nope, I need the av1 encoding.
  9. You should be able to find alternative keycaps somewhere. After all, Kailhl's are fairly common switches. I have a love/hate with the cap font. My inner, old school, gamer loves it, but the more mature me is on the fence. As I stated previously, the wheel does not adjust volume. Only dimming. (However I haven't installed software to see if it's been updated to do so). Secondly, for some reason, maybe because I haven't installed software, the KB stays lit when PC is off. Might just be a fluke with my setup. I'm installing software tonight, so we'll see. Will report back I'm REALLY diggin it man. For a sub-$100 mech....I can't think of any other I'd recommend.
  10. The thing is solidly built. Frame has a "rubberized" texture. Like old IBM thinkpads, if you've been around long enough to remember those. Also, next to no flex at all. I can "twist" it, very little, but you can tell it isn't a plastic chassis. Packaging was great too. For a sub-$100 mech with Kailhs, I honestly can't not recommend it. I've been looking at a new KB, that's mech, for months now. Nothing in this price range can compete. Again, I haven't installed the software yet, but hot keys work out of box. Honestly not sure about macros, as I have a N52TE for that duty. Linus seriously needs to review this thing,
  11. Finally broke down and ordered a Drakken Tech Prothero Spektrum. This KB is solid! Ordered it with Kailh browns. Haven't even installed the software yet. Weight is heavy, lighting is great, came with 5 extra key switches, plus tool to change them. Switches are hot-swappable. I highly recommend this KB. Its only $80 USD (Amazon), and solidly built. Sleeved cord, with USB and audio pass-through. Chassis is metal. https://www.drakkentech.com/product-page/drakken-prothero-spektrum-coming-summer-2017 https://www.amazon.com/Drakken-Technologies-Mechanical-Programmable-Anti-Ghosting/dp/B073VDMXBN?th=1 I emailed them about software updates to allow the wheel to function as volume, they said they were working on it. In the meantime, I'm fine with the FN+F2/F3 for volume. That was my only gripe. I miss the LCD on my old Logitech G510, but damn...it's nice to have the tactile feel back. Each key can be programmed with its own color with the software. Here's a short vid of default LED colors - Sorry for vid quality, turned all the lights off for best effect. LINUS!!! REVIEW THIS KEYBOARD!!!!
  12. I want to see Linus do a review of the Walmart "Blackweb RGB Gaming Mouse" for just under $40 USD (How many CAD Shekels is that?) https://www.walmart.com/ip/BlackWeb-RGB-Programmable-Gaming-Mouse-with-Adjustable-Palm-Rest/158901013 It looks fairly decent from description, all things considered Walmart. Can't possibly be worse than the no-name $20ish gaming mice he did in his "cheap gaming mouse" comparison...or could it? DO EET!
  13. Ah yes, the blowiematron! Having my own 120VAC, 140mm, "blowiematron", I'm pretty sure that Linus' isn't a 12vdc fan. I misread you're first post and thought it said "1000RPM". I wondered how a 120mm 1000RPM fan would outperform a 2500-3000 RPM fan.
  14. That def wont work...need less than 1A current draw. But only 1k RPM? My curiosity is still intrigued.
  15. Is it 120x25mm? Does it have comparable static pressure? If so, please provide a link and I'll be glad to look into that. I can only have 120x25mm in this fan location, and it needs to be high static pressure/flow, as my exhaust is a 120x38 Delta AFB1212HHE-F00 (120cfm/9mmH2O).
  16. Well, I didn't find many other options in my search. I did however find a couple of amps that should fit in a 3.5 slot though, which is a huge bonus! Tang Band KIT0058 2 x 5 Watt Amplifier with Bluetooth Tang Band KIT0059 2 x 10 Watt Amplifier with Bluetooth Both are made by a good company, just under 4in x 1in and probably class-D. Only problem is they run off 15vdc, so I'd have to build a small step-up/boost circuit in order to run it off my PSU. Found another, but it's also a DAC. It should be able to make fit a 3.5 bay, it's 1.14in high. SMSL SA-98E TDA7498E Stereo Amplifier 2 x 160W This would surely be class-d based on output, and input voltage (about 36vdc). Not sure if I'd feel comfortable wiring 3 12v PSU lines in series to power it though. Not to mention the higher output and heat generated. Granted, that 160w rating is peak, but it would still be a measurable amount of heat dissipated into the case. It's also twice as much.
  17. Trying to decide between the two as my main case intake fan. I need more positive pressure Similar in specs - Delta AFB1212H-R00: Dual ball bearing 2500 RPM 82.67 cfm (140.5 m3/h) 6.25 mm/H20 38.5 dBA Noctua NF-F12 iPPC-3000: SSO2 bearing 3000 RPM 109.9 cfm (186.7 m3/h) 7.63 mm/H2O 43.5 dBA The noctua moves slightly more air at full speed, but at 5dBA more in terms of loudness. My biggest question is whether there is a justifiable price, and sound level, difference between for the Noctua (about $5 USD more) for the SSO2 bearings, noise level and static pressure. Looks are not of importance! I was looking for something a little better than the Noctua PPC-2000 in 120x25, and if I had to guess, the Noctua 3K would probably perform very similarly to the Delta at 2500RPM. Delta's have just as much a fantastic reputation concerning reliability. So, is the SSO2 bearing, extra 5dBA, 3-phase motor (does the Delta have 3-phase?) and extra $5 worth getting the Noctua ppc-3000? Delta's have just as much a fantastic reputation concerning reliability. If someone could provide any kind of comparison graphs, it would be greatly appreciated, but I won't hold my breathe. Thanks!
  18. I know from searching a few years back, that there were a couple (very few) car stereo type head units made for a 5.25 bay. Anybody here old enough to remember these and who made them? I found the current Scythe SDAR-2100-BK / Kama Bay AMP 2000, and while I dig the analog style VU meters, it's class D...which, meh.
  19. I've been putting it off and putting it off. I got it for free from a guy off craigslist, along with a couple of parted out Optiplex servers. The only thing I kept was the Octane. It wouldn't be a "dual system setup". I've already gutted it (need to put parts on Ebay). It'd be a dual boot Arch and Win10 system. There's been a couple of others who have done the conversion. It's not simple, but not exactly hard if you know how to do simple fabricating stuff. I love the door on the front, would probably repaint it white and back, rewire the front lights as red. Wouldn't happen until beginning of 2019, but I could fit any height cooler in it I wanted to! lol
  20. Yup! Mines an Octane, like the one you posted, not an Octane 2.
  21. I've had an SGI Octane collecting dust in my closet for the last 3 years. I got it for free because of how cool and badass they used to be. So I've been contemplating over the last couple of years about converting it. What does LTT think of this? Go for it, or blasphemy?
