  1. Yep, runs around 75-76 degrees under high load. It might be worth noting that my pc is incredibly thermally constraint too (it sits on the floor beside a curtain and I got two cats rummaging around constantly)
  2. Yep not a single plastic peel to be seen. Though if there was any peels I’d assume the smell would be way more noticeable to where I’d notice it without my sister’s help.
  3. So pretty much as the title says, there’s a weird plasticky smell coming from my computer, I’m assuming its my GPU since I realized this smell right after swapping my GPU. My current one is an Asus Strix GTX970. The smell is pretty faint but my sister helped me confirm that there is definitely something there. Also something to note, this GPU hasn’t been used for awhile, around 2 years. Whether or not it plays a role, I got no idea. Ideas and advice is appreciated.
  4. Unfortunately ethernet isn't an option for me due to the placement of my computer.
  5. Hello, I've recently ran into a problem with my Internet. I can barely connect to my network that I had no issue connecting with the previous day, and if I connect, the WiFi symbol has the "identify network" phrase. Even after I've connected to the network after some commands like "ipconfig/flushdns", it has the stupid yellow triangle that says no Internet access. As such, I figured my WiFi adapter is broken or has degraded. (I use a fairly old oem upgraded system so I wasn't particularly surprised when one of the parts started failing) so I ran down to the nearby mall to get another WiFi adapter this time a PCIE X1 one. The previous one was a chip connected to a slot on the mobo. Even after spending all that time getting a new WiFi adapter and setting it up with the CD it gave and the drivers, the stupid symbol still persisted. But, since then I've been able to access some websites when connecting to a different network (my phone's mobile hot-spot). Weird thing is, the network not only unstable and works only sometimes, but it can't access some websites, like YouTube it can access fine but nvidia' s websites don't seem to work. After messing around with the diagnostics and the error code on my Geforce Experience, I figured my graphics card was having some sort of output issue, so I deleted my Geforce Experience and tried to download it again to get the proper drives since I couldn't access Geforce Experience at all (error code 0x0003 or something). And since I have no Internet /unstable Internet, I can't download the Geforce Experience application and now I can't get graphics drivers either. And then I did the diagnostics for the WiFi with the Microsoft diagnostics thing, it said my WiFi does not have a proper ip configuration, after a few guides and tutorials, the problem never went away and such I thought it was a virus. After 2 full scans, no issues and I'm at a brick wall. BTW there was a windows update around the time of the "Internet issue" so maybe that's a factor? I'd really like some help, please anything that might help. I'm considering formatting my whole pc and trying to get into steam to backup some games which is also hard cos I have no frikkin Internet. Help pls. Any more information I can provide will be given..
  6. I want to upgrade my components in the future and a proper case and psu is essential, that can't happen in a case that doesn't even have places to slot fans and good airflow etc So even if I get a big case I won't be able to transplant it? Don't most cases have like eg 290cm gpu length compatability or something, how come I can't fit it into that? Is the PSU related slots etc proprietary or will I have to just get a new mobo
  7. Hi guys, I have an Inspiron 660s and I plan to migrate the entire computer and all its components to another case, I was worried that the mobo would not fit due to dell and its proprietary problems. Can someone pls verify that I will be able to fit the mobo into a proper case and will another new psu be able to plug in to the mobo in the first place? Ps. I am tight on budget and pretty much I can only afford a case and psu that I like without breaking the bank.. Thanks in advance
  8. So if I get the i5 3550s will I be able to use the turbo boost function? If so how do I do it exactly..? Especially on a dell prebuilt motherboard?
  9. Let's say that I plan to upgrade to a new processor because my Pentium G2020 is bottlenecking my GT1030, would it be more advisable to get an i3 3220 at 55w or an i5 3550s at 65w? I don't understand the math of the entire power consumption thing and I need some advice. I'm also concerned at the "boost" clock of the i5 3550s cos if you push the cpu it'll take more power right? If so is it more advisable to get the i3 instead and forgo the potential performance increase? 11. I just got a new GT1030 and most probably won't be getting a new gpu anytime soon, my next upgrade would be some extra memory from 2gb to 6gb by adding another 4gb stick. After that it's probably a new case so a new gpu will take some time. Nevertheless I'll keep it in mind the next time I wanna get a new gpu.. Thanks
  12. Wow didn't expect this much feedback.. Thanks guys
  13. Hi so I just got a Gt 1030 for my dell prebuilt, I reliased that the minimum requirements for the GPU is 300w while apparently my Dell prebuilt comes with a 220w PSU. Is it ok to run considerably low to medium games like TF2 and Fortnite? Also I don't really understand the rail thing/12V distribution thing concept whatever. Specs: Dell Inspiron 660s Cpu Intel Pentium g2020 Gpu Zotac GT1030 lp 7.2rpm HDD 120gb ssd Original PSU from prebuilt dell
  14. Let's say I can't really get a new case, what would be the smart move to get good graphics but yet be safe at the same time considering the PSU's low wattage. What do you mean hacked? Sorry guys I'm quite new to this PC building scene and I am not familiar with all the terms in PC building..
