The 3080 is a lot more powerful, so yeah I would probably return the 2080 if possible, and assuming you won't be losing any money.

You would absolutely want to return that 2080 right now.  It's a card that is already reselling used for only $450.

Don't compare videocards based on clockspeeds.
Base it on actual peformance in benchmarks.
The 3080 seems to be two times as fast as the 2080 AT BEST. Usually it's more like 1.5-1.7 times its performance.
We've had rumors about a September launch since August, rumors in general for longer.
The past three weeks have been nothing but people on this forum recommending people to wait out the new launches.
Watch a review or two and decide if the extra performance is worth it.
If you can return the 2080 Super and can get an RTX 3080, it's definitely worth it.

As an overall view on performance difference:

    121 vs 171 fps.

The DT 770 pro with a modmic is one of the most popular amongst gamers that actually want to get good audio gear. You could also spend maybe 100 euros on an amp/dac combo if you want even better audio quality.

I don't know your budget but I always recommend the DT 770 pro 80ohm with a modmic uni to gamers that should get into the audiphile thing. It is a good pair of headphones with tight bass and the mic is really good compared to the shit mics on those "gaming" headsets. I completely agree with @LIGISTX

Massdrop 6xx's are also an amazing value. I have a pair of them, and driven correctly they are 100% capable of being end game headphones... I have a Schiit lyr 3 tube amp with their multibit dac option, the 6xx's are incredible and scale so well. I have also used them in a multi-thousand dollar tube amp with a schiit Byfrost 2 Dac, they just keep scaling. Its truly incredible.

That said, I like my Fostex more, but for 200 bucks paired with the "schiit stack", man, thats a value that is hard to beat.

AndrewB121 reacted to Jurrunio in Upgrade to Ryzen 5 3600 worth it right now?
3600 is better for gaming enough to be worth it, but AMD CPUs depreciate like mad after their replacements launch (while supply of older CPUs still go on to fend off budget offerings from Intel). Even before 4th gen there's the 3rd gen XT models to hopefully kick down the price.

AndrewB121 reacted to vinit6694skr in Upgrade to Ryzen 5 3600 worth it right now?
Both are 6C/12T CPUs so I don't think the upgrade is worth it. Better to wait and upgrade to a 8 core 4000 series processor later on. Also the stock cooler on 2600x is better than 3600. The 2600x is also a great CPU with performance better than the Haswell/Broadwell 6 cores.
You might spend that 40 now and get a 3600 but if the 4000 series offer even better IPC and you feel the need to upgrade again then your £40 spent now will be a waste.

    Wait for zen 3 then

    You could if you want
Let's say you didn't like what zen 3 offered or the price was too high for you then the 3600 would drop in price
Over clocking ryzen doesn't make sense really

If we are only comparing both of these cpu's at intensive work loads
While yes I agree they both have 6 cores
And the ipc difference won't really Change a whole lot the 3600 has a considerably better fpu which could help depending on the task

I'd recommend waiting till you can afford the 8 core then. while IPC has gone up considerably. it hasnt changed the fact that they are both 6 core CPUs which is not going to be a big difference for work. I dont know how much 4th gen will improve but by that time (i.e. after you have enough in your pockets for a 3rd gen 8 core), it should be launched and you can compare performance at that point from reviews. Even 3rd gen is capable enough for 144fps in most games so there's not much reason to get 4th gen strictly.

If it's an EVGA 500W 80+ Nothing then I guess it's an N1 or W1, which are junk, so don't even try it.
And yes, if you can get a 1660S for the same price as a Vega 56 it is definitely a better buy. It's got similar performance while consuming half as much power. I still wouldn't personally run it with either of the two power supplies I mentioned above, but there's chances it will actually work, whereas with the Vega 56 you had more chances of starting a fire.

If it were a good unit it would work fine

But the W1 White models are some of the worst units on the market. We had one such power supply destroy an entire system two days ago on these very forums.

Would you want to pay 40 for better performance now, or double if not triple that more for slightly better performance later?
