Agreed. At least the 30 series is right around the corner.  Thank you for your time and help, it is much appreciated!

This is a tuff one since these are two of my favorite manufacturers.

For the MSi board the gold plated audio ports is kinda gimmicky, you won't see much of a difference. Same for the M.2 FROZER cooler; while it does help lower temps (maybe by 1 - 3C) it's not something that's really needed. MSI was actually the first motherboard manufacturer to add the cooling plates to M.2 slots and they made an oopsie the first time and it actually raised temps in some cases ? If Wi-Fi is important to you the onboard Wi-Fi is actually pretty good.

I have to admit, the MSI motherboard does look cooler and "gamerish" but EVGA makes an extremely quality product. If you look at EVGA's motherboard offerings you don't see 3 or 4 different models of the same chipset, they offer 1 model (sometimes a couple because different motherboard sizes) and you know what you're getting is going to be nice and is going to work well. EVGA doesn't care about flash, they care about quality.

Here's the two big differences I see tho.

First with the EVGA, as I mentioned, you're going to get a quality product. But one thing I believe EVGA has over every manufacturer is their warranty and RMA service. There is nobody that can compete with how well EVGA handles their RMA requests and you can pretty do anything with your product shy of using it as a freebee and they will still honor the warranty.

With the MSI board the first thing that stood out to me (besides the RGB) is the dual 8-pin CPU power connectors. Now you obviously don't have to use both, you can use just one, but if you plan to do some hella overclocking the 2nd CPU power will help you with stability.

All in all, you'll be happy with both. My past 2 motherboards have been MSI and I haven't had a single issues with them. If EVGA made Ryzen motherboards I would have gotten one for my current build, and I was dead set on getting an EVGA motherboard for my previous Intel build but MicroCenter didn't have any in stock and I was in the mindset of "I'm building a computer TONIGHT" and went with a MSI offering.

Thank you for the info!  I know upping the audio aspect of the experience in movies and games can get very expensive, and I don't want to buy something just to find out I don't notice any difference, so knowing what I'm looking for will have a much better result.

The thing is..its not easy to describe sounds and people perceive audio very differently from one another..so if i describe what i hear and then letting you hear what i heard..you might disagree with what i said.

But in general..you will get a better audio quality overall such as thumping and punchy bass, Clear mid and high with less noises or even static in some cases but very rare..
But if you want my opinion..what i notice from switching over to the Q1 from onboard audio is that in gaming..the gunshot sounds very punchy and clear with no distortion, the footstep sounds the same and the other sound effect just sounds more detailed than ever.
In music i notice a big difference on the mids especially when i listen to Hey Jude and I want you back..all of a sudden you hear something that isn't there before..

You should be fine with that..providing that you have a modern motherboard with decent dac and easy to drive driver..no need to buy DAC..

mostly clearity and less noice, as said in the article. only if you have hard to drive headphones there will be a high need for it, otherwise the onboard is fine for most people if you get a modern one

I'm currently on a 9700k + h150i. All cores at 5GHz 1.34v, and never go above 70C with fan speeds at 50%. The h115i you'll probably get a bit hotter / need to run faster fans, but the stock ones are decently quiet so it's not a big deal

i mean, the stock intel heatsink is enough to run the chip at stock speeds. going with a 240 radiator for stock speeds is massive overkill, tough you should see exceptional temps and silence when going for overkill cooling.

The 150i will cool better than the 115i (which is 280, not 240). Both are more than fine for a 9700k at stock though. Both are fine for OC'ing it too

There won't be enough rams for video editing, it all depends on your workload.
If you only stitching videos in 1 or 2 timeline with minimal effect, 16 gb is more than enough, i've worked with 8gb laptop just fine.
But if you have a seriously complex timeline with 3d fonts, transitions and long durations, more rams will helps.
Having a fast disk also helps to minimize the ram usage, you can tweak it in the settings.
2-3 years ago i've seen someone edit a full feature movie with only 32gb.

When you start talking about 2 or 4 sticks in a dual channel system, you're also going to encounter rank effects. I don't know if there is any good data on rank and gaming. For compute uses, dual rank offers a good boost to useful bandwidth over single rank if all else is equal. I don't know if that keeps going onto 4 rank per channel which could be encountered if you use dual rank modules, a good possibility with 16GB modules.

DDR4 is still fairly new so no worries for long-term compatibility.

how high the memory is used depends on how big the video files you are processing.
for games if you have enough vram in your gpu, the usage of the main memory is not that much.
myself edit 4k footages downscaled to 1080p for 3-6 minutes durations in a 16gb system running along with other app (mainly browser) and it still have 3-5gb left.
so i think for now 32gb is more than enough.
from performance point of view, 2 sticks and 4 sticks in dual channel does the same.

32GB would probably be best, unless you're dealing with high-res footage and doing a load of other stuff in the background there's no need for 64GB.
Also you don't need to worry about DDR5. It'll be really expensive anyway and I doubt many platforms will support it.
Also I can't answer your 1st question since my computer experience is limited. Sorry
