  1. For anyone reading this thread; I've gone with a Gigabyte X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING Mobo. It's compatible with the Noctua DH-15 according to Noctua's website.
  2. Looking at that board, I'd be concerned with the clearance of the heatsink on the I/O with my Noctua DH-15 cooler. Might have to look at something else.
  3. Sounds good! Will check it out, though I hate RGB.
  4. I'm flexible. I'll check out those boards, thanks.
  5. I was looking at getting something that's X470 tbf. Only just read up on the chipsets like 10 mins ago. The board doesn't have to be ASUS though, I'd be happy with any well known board OE.
  6. Hey guys, recently purchased an RTX 2070. Quickly found out that my poor old FX8320 isn't quite cutting it anymore, so it's time to upgrade to Ryzen 2nd gen for a stop gap until Ryzen 3rd gen comes out. I currently have a ASUS Sabertooth R2.0 mobo, looking for suggestions on an AM4 board that has same/better features as my current one? Not really up-to-date on AMD boards, I know Ryzen needs a lot of RAM, so 4 DIMM slots are a must have, as is USB 3.x. I've had a look on Amazon, and wondering if the Strix boards are any good? Not quite sold on the Crosshair platform, as I had an AM3 Crosshair V board and it died within 2 weeks of ownership without overclocking, but maybe I should give it another chance? Any help is much appreciated!
  7. Hey guys, hoping someone can help. My discord keeps blurring everything apart from the 2 bottom messages and text entry box. It started doing this a few weeks ago when Discord updated, not entirely sure how to fix it. Disabling hardware acceleration maybe? None of my other programs are affected, and any program I have on that monitor are absolutely fine with no issues so I know it's not the monitor. I'm on the latest Nvidia driver too.
  8. Is there a way to setup the RAM & GPU to run a 2x bus speed? Or is that wildy unrealistic on this board?
  9. Thanks for the input, but it doesn't really help me in this situation. I'm trying to figure out why the board won't post past default values.
  10. Hello all. As my hardware grows graciously with age, and the price of new hardware behind out of budget right now, I'm looking to finally overclock my system. My system specs are as follows: Mobo; ASUS Sabertooth 990fx R2.0 CPU: AMD FX8320 Black Edition (w/ Arctic Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 cooler) GPU: Gigabyte GTX 760 Windforce 4GB RAM: 12GB Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz PSU: Corsair CX750M Having followed JayzTwoCents guide on how to overclock the FX chips, I changed the core clock from 4.0Ghz to 4.4Ghz quite smooth, and left voltage at default value. I tried to run a stress test on prime95, and instanteously my PC crashed. Figuring that there wasn't enough voltage, I stepped it up to 1.4v, however this immediately resulted in the PC not wanting to post. So I Googled the issue, and found by holding down the "Mem OK" button on my mobo, it would run a test and I'd be able to get into the BIOS. As luck would have it, I did manage to get into the BIOS and I changed the voltage down to 1.38v. I saved the config and that again caused the PC to not post. Figuring that my system just couldn't run 4.4Ghz @ 1.38v, I decided to go with a safer OC of 4.2Ghz @ 1.38v, so I changed the values and tried to get the system to post, but I immediately ran into new issues where the system would post past the BIOS logo, but it wouldn't boot Windows from my SSD, instead it just sat at a black screen. So currently I'm back to default values, with no OC, and I'm turning to the community to help me out. I'm new to OC'ing but not system building, the components I picked were with OC'ing mind, so surely my system should be able to run 4.2Ghz @ 1.4v(ish) ? Please help! Any guidance appreciated.
