  1. Nope I guess I’ll flip them around ?
  2. Sorry for double post but specifications: Motherboard = Gigabyte AORUS (X470) Gaming 7 WiFi, CPU = AMD Ryzen 7 2700X, RAM = Gigabyte AORUS RGB DDR4-3400MHz 32Gb (4x8Gb DIMMs), GPU = Palit GeForce RTX 2080 Ti GamerPro OC, PSU = Corsair RM850x, SSD = Samsung 970 EVO M.2 NVMe (1Tb), Case = Gigabyte AORUS AC300W. Fans = 6 x Corsair LL120.
  3. Started building my first ever gaming PC tonight, I got as far as installing the CPU and cooler to the motherboard, put the RAM in the motherboard then screwed it into the pre-installed standoffs in the case. I then got the six case fans in and the power supply, ran the cables through. Stopped now because I need the M.2 NVMe drive to turn up now as well as needing to buy a USB hub and then install the graphics card before unplugging all the cables again and trying my best at cable management. Here she is in her unfinished state, I’ll keep the log updated as I go along and then again in future when I do the hardline watercooling.
  4. Can I daisy chain splitters or can only one splitter go to a header? I only have two headers for six fans
  5. So is this the correct slots to plug in? Lower left is Molex chain and beside it is SATA chain. Lower right is GPU (RTX 2080 Ti) and beside it is CPU (R7 2700X) Top right is other side of 24pin motherboard cable
  6. Thank you so much for the help I’m sorry I’m so fucking hopeless but it’s literally my first ever build and I’m really grateful for everyone’s help. the only thing now is I don’t think I have enough fan headers on my board lol
  7. Thanks guys I didn’t bother and just kept the stock goop and I’ll keep my thermal grizzly for when I do the water cooling blocks in January
  8. Shit so how do I power all these fans? I thought they would get power from RGB lines since the hub and node both have SATA power connectors ??
  9. Oh crap I meant to ask, the CPU cooler came preloaded with some goop in a square shape on it, was I supposed to still put thermal grizzly on the CPU anyway or not?
  10. So do I need to run a 4 pin supply AND the 8 pin supply to the CPU too?
  11. Hi guys I’ve put six LL120s into my case and attached them to the node by the RGB wire but what are the second wires from each fan for? Do I ignore them and hide them or are they required?
  12. Thank you so much guys I am pooping myself I’m doing this wrong. Also please check in on my other thread please
  13. Hi guys just checking if what I done is right. I used the cable labelled CPU to plug into the socket in the picture is that right? Gigabyte AORUS X470 Gaming 7 AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Corsair RM850x Also I need another header for this 9pin USB but there’s only two headers on the board can I just use the NZXT four way splitter and plug all 3 into that which then goes into just one header? Please help guys I think I’m in over my head on this build Linus makes it look easy
  14. Hi guys I am currently building my first ever system and I need some help because the manuals that came with everything aren’t helping. Palit RTX 2080 Ti Corsair RM850x is this the right cable to power the GPU? The cable has an 8 pin end marked “type 4” and the opposite end is two 6pins that can have another 2 pins each? please help me I don’t want to kill the card

Close enough to a heart attack, I watched some PC building videos including the LTT one and I thought to myself "yeah, you got yourself through a PhD, this is nothing" and in reality I was absolutely clueless ?

I had to come on here and get some advice because I couldn't believe that instructions and manuals included in everything didn't include details on how to connect what-where. The instruction book that came with the 2080 Ti literally only dealt with Palit's proprietary customisation software and the instruction book for the RM850x literally only had a schedule of specifications and a schedule of cables included (not mentioning what the cables are for specifically) and that was it. So I came on here and thankfully everyone was very helpful, I even found out I had put my three front fans in the wrong direction, so I will fix that tonight.

Got some fan header splitters and a 9pin USB hub coming tomorrow from Amazon so I will be able to finally have it up and running on Friday night.

  18. I actually really like seeing how far and wide the gamer/ tech enthusiast demographic stretches, it seems to be the great unifier ? age, income, education level: all make no difference in this genre it seems. Im also glad I’m not the only one who misses the old LTT homely feeling. I know it’s a tall order given their direction these days but I would love that feeling back. Even in their new sets, they are designed like high-end: high-income kitchens and living rooms (very clinical feeling too) when the core of their viewers are millennials and younger who don’t have that sort of lifestyle so it makes sense that we find their sets, style and approach different now because they related to us more when they seemed like a load of funny bros in a house together.
  19. Here in Scotland we have a word that means similar "Muckle" (large, heavy, strong, synonymous with good quality). Worthy mention we also have "smeddum" which means drive, intensity, indomitable spirit/will.
  20. I love his videos, especially the ones about all the angry pixies. You should check out his subreddit, it's got some great content too. Haha! Actually lol'd at this demographic breakdown, now if only you would post an analysis of your DNA, dental records and bank account log-in details that would be great. Car: BMW 750iL (F01 Model), Country: Scotland, Race: Caucasian - White European (of Nordic/ Irish heritage), City: Glasgow (suburban), How many sheep: None, Likes: Whisky, Movies, Hookers, Coke and Anime, Dislikes: The rest of humanity, Can't stand: People who vape and Vegans, Loves: Getting laid, Social Status: Just out a relationship, Netflix: House of Cards, Actor: Tom Hanks, Artist: In Flames, Food: Steak with peppercorn sauce, Drink: Whisky or Rum.
  21. Well I also have a GT 1050 that actually does smoke the APU by about 150% performance on UserBenchmarks too.....
  22. OP, drop me your address in PM and I will post you a Nvidia GeForce GT730DE (2GB SDDR3) for free to help your build. Can someone confirm if a discrete GT730 is better than just the APU itself? EDIT: Nevermind I checked UserBenchmarks and the APU thrashes the GT 730 lol.
  23. I get where you're coming from on your points, but don't you think it's a little harsh to say that Linus sold out? He likely took decisions for the benefit of his business, he does have a significant amount of people on his payroll now. I also think Linus himself doesn't make bags of cash himself since his channel is tiny compared to the real money makers like PewDiePie (>500,000 USD a month income) and he has all that overhead to pay for whereas Felix is just Felix and his editor. I guess you're talking about AvE (Arduino vs Evil is the original channel name), I subscribe to him as well as Clickspring, Abom and ThisOldTony. His CNC didn't cost him anywhere close to $200,000 USD, for that much money you could buy four HAAS VF2SS milling centres.... https://www.haascnc.com/machines/vertical-mills/vf-series.html
  24. That is incredible, only beaten by the "Lifetime" warranty that Gigabyte gives on their RAM modules.
