  1. Hi all, I am going to pitch a program, its functions and what I expect from it and hopefully someone can tell me what kind of programming level someone would need to be to accomplish it. Hopefully it is nothing too complicated and something I could learn and create over the course of say 12 to 18 months. Essentially I want to take a list of all my companies part numbers and then our next biggest five competitors part numbers and put them into a database that essentially matches them equivalent part for equivalent part. The user interface of the program will simply be that the user types into a search box any of the five competitors part numbers and it provides my companies equivalent part number. As part numbers can be complicated with spaces and different characters it would be nice if the search function returned "likely" competitor part numbers in the instance where a user has mistyped the part number or is mistaken (but close to correct) and can then click one of the suggested part numbers which would then follow back into generating my companies equivalent part number. It would be really nice if when my part number popped up it would also give a simple table showing some pertinent technical information (such as mechanical properties, chemical composition, etc) and maybe a jpg line drawing of the product with some basic dimensions along with a link that when pressed would open a webpage to the product page on our website. How complicated would this be to make? It wouldn't have to have a flashy UI, it simply has to be clean, simple and functional. Thanks in advance guys
  2. OK first of all, thank you to all the guys in here helping me out, it has been a great amount of help and I love these forums for it. In close to this thread I was able to tweak some things and get more performance: CPU = 4.30 Ghz @ 1.39V, RAM = 3,600MHz @ XMP Profile 1 (auto timings), GPU = +157Mhz to base clock and +997Mhz on memory clock. Happy with the thermals, happy with the small increases in performance. I did get the RTX to +202MHz on base clock and the thermals were not bad but it was artifacting space invaders all over the screen.
  3. It's currently air cooled with the stock cooler so I am being gentle with it I guess, I tickled it up to 4.25GHz at the same voltage and it's running stable in CPU-Z: New CPU-Z: Results (New)
  4. sorry for being a dumbass but how do I monitor/ record that?
  5. I dialled back the loadline calibration, there is another level above it (Extreme). Should I dial it back another level?
  6. Hi all, Currently trying to get some gentle overclocking on my components. So far my best settings are: CPU = 4.2GHz, 1.40V VCore, CPUVcore and VCoreSOC loadline calibration both set to Turbo, RAM = 3400Mhz at timings of 18-20-20-20-40-2T. The problem is that when I done my benchmarks on Userbenchmark, the results are below expected across the board: UserBenchmark: Results CPU-Z: Results Any pointers at all here? Really appreciate all the help I get on these forums, and I apologise in advance for being a scrub.
  7. Thanks everyone the driver install worked a treat and I can now play games! I am doing some gentle OC on my components now and I noted when I was benching my CPU in CPU-Z that my GPU clock is 300 Mhz, surely that isn't correct? Or is that it simply idling? I think there is a problem because even on Userbenchmark the RTX 2080 Ti is scoring WAYYYY below expected. Even with an overclock it says my 2700X is performing below average. Bench results here: CPU-Z Results RTX results here: UserBenchmark Results I amlso having real troubles getting decent latency out of my RAM. I have upped the multiplier to 3400 and it's stable (it was originally 3200 after all) and changed my timings to 18-20-20-20-40 which I found from an article on Toms Hardware discussing the exact RAM used. He was able to get it to 3733 at those settings but when I try that it keeps resetting the system. Would really appreciate any advice!
  8. None, it is a brand new build (specs in profile) it’s 2am here in the U.K. and I just finished proofing a technical paper so I’m going to sleep now. Thanks everyone for the pointers: I will update this thread when I use DDU and fresh drivers tomorrow
  9. Yeah I’ll try DDU and then clean install the Nvidia drivers then report back with how it’s done ?
  10. I don’t have a GSync monitor, I’ve tried outputting at my TVs native resolution (3840px by 2160px at 60 Hz) and at a scaled down 1080p at 60 Hz. Each time chosen through the Nvidia Configurator.
  11. Sorry no I haven’t I’ve just been using each drivers installer to overright the other
  12. Only using one display which is a Hisense 65” 4K TV (w/HDR10) into the HDMI port on the RTX
  13. Parsing my ignorance but what is DDU?
  14. Hi all, Card in question is Palit RTX 2080 Ti GamingPro OC (not overclocked, is as is straight from the box. Been trying to play games on this and it’s basically been a giant bag of dicks and I have no idea why so here’s what I’ve done: 1. Played World of Warships but it crashes unless you play it at 1080p with HDR off, if played at 1080p it will play stabile at around 177 FPS on ultra high settings. As soon as you move it to 4K it crashes and hard locks the computer requiring a manual restart, 2. Installed steam and only installed one game so far (Subnautica) and I got it to load into a game with resolution set to 4K but it hard locks the system after about 30 seconds give or take a few seconds each time, same thing happens in 1080p, 3. Installed Fortnite and it hard locks on loading screen regardless of resolution. I have tried all three games at both 4K and 1080p with and without HDR at both resolutions. I have tried using driver from Nvidia directly and also the latest driver from Palits site and it makes no difference. Anyone know what’s going on here? Pretty enraging having a £1,200 card that’s doing nothing.

    It lives!

Nice build though but the little kid inside me wants RGB lol

It took me two years but I'm over RGB now. Now I just use white/gray. :D

      Spoiler

      Though it looks better IRL.

It definitely makes a build stand out. I might go back as well but, for now, white works pretty well.

  16. Hi all, Got windows 10 on my computer now booting from the NVMe SSD and I timed my boot time: Approx. 22 seconds to clear AORUS bios screen, Approx. 6 seconds to login/password box appearing, Instant desktop after hitting enter on password. is it just me or is the time to clear the bios extremely long? Is there anything I can do to bring that time down?
  17. While windows is installing thought I would share some pics of her actually running in full (out of sync) RGB glory
  18. I should be finishing my build tonight, and I thought I would run a benchmark to see what my current PC is like (the one I use at work) for gaming using the Userbenchmark tool:

    UserBenchmarks: Game 35%, Desk 50%, Work 32%
    CPU: Intel Core i5-6400 - 70.6%
    GPU: Nvidia GTX 1050 - 32.6%
    HDD: WD Blue 1TB (2012) - 90.5%
    RAM: Samsung M378B1G73EB0-YK0 1x8GB - 33%
    MBD: Dell Inspiron 3650

It said it is a sail boat lol. I only ever play World of Warships on this during my lunch break though.

Can't wait to see how my rig benchmarks.

  19. So it is probably better just to stick with a single 970 EVO in the PCIe 3.0 lane so it is not bottlenecked? Thanks bro really appreciate the advice here on this one!
  20. Hi all, I wish there was more information on this case before I bought it, but alas here we are and here is my findings: NEGATIVES: 1. The case headroom above the top of the motherboard tray to the underside of the fan mounting slots is not great, you will not get a radiator and fan in here without removing the heatsinks on your motherboards VRMs, so a waterblock is essential. This may just be in my particular instance because the heat pipes and heatsink on my Gigabyte AORUS (X470) Gaming 7 motherboard are rather beefy, 2. There is a HDMI input on the front of the case and in my scenario it is completely redundant as there is no HDMI input on either my motherboard or GPU, so I wanted to remove it but it is literally screwed into the front fascia of the case and you need to completely disassemble the fascia panel to remove the cable. It would have been really nice if it just unplugged like the USB 3.0 ribbons on the fascia panel instead, 3. There isn't a great deal of room between the rear of the motherboard tray and where the back panel would be in the closed position, effective cable management is a must and I am actually struggling to get all cables arranged in a way that I don't need extenders or large "trunks" of cables, a slightly wider case or even moving the motherboard tray nearer the front would have been nice, 4. There isn't a great deal of room inside the PSU shroud, even when you take out the 3.5" drive bays, there is still a steel bulkhead that cannot be removed and this seriously impedes access to the cabling of the PSU once the PSU is installed, it would have been better if this bulkhead either had larger cable pass-throughs cut into it, was removable or simply never there at all, 5. There is no rubber grommets for the two square cable holes on the motherboard try but there is a grommet on the hole coming up from the PSU shroud, 6. The see-through panel is not made of tempered glass, which is very disappointing from a case that cost £129.99 GBP (approx. $170.00 USD). POSITIVES: 1. None. I wish I knew all this before buying the case so I could have bought another case instead. I bought it before my other components arrived and I am outwith the returns period so I am stuck with it. Maybe once I have the PC built and finished I will grow to like it.
  21. Hi guys, My motherboard is a Gigabyte AORUS (X470) Gaming 7 and I have a Samsung 970 EVO M.2 NVMe SSD (1Tb) that I currently fit into the top M.2 slot on the motherboard. The motherboard specifications lists this slot as: M.2 connector (Socket 3, Key M, Type 2280, PCIe 3.0x4/x2 SSD Support). There is a second M.2 port underneath this one that is listed in the specifications as: M.2 connector (Socket 3, Key M, Type 2280, PCIe 2.0x4/x2 SSD Support). Does that mean if I were to populate the second M.2 port with another Samsung 970 EVO M.2 NVMe SSD (1Tb) that it would actually have a detrimental effect on read/ write speeds even if I was using them in RAID 0 by dropping the PCIe down to x2 only? Also is the main M.2 slot good enough to get the full potential out NVMe?

Hi all, Welcome to my profile. Feel free to lin…

Close enough to a heart attack, I watched some PC building videos including the LTT one and I thought to myself "yeah, you got yourself through a PhD, this is nothing" and in reality I was absolutely clueless ? I had to come on here and get some advice because I couldn't believe that instructions and manuals included in everything didn't include details on how to connect what-where. The instruction book that came with the 2080 Ti literally only dealt with Palit's proprietary customisation software and the instruction book for the RM850x literally only had a schedule of specifications and a schedule of cables included (not mentioning what the cables are for specifically) and that was it. So I came on here and thankfully everyone was very helpful, I even found out I had put my three front fans in the wrong direction, so I will fix that tonight. Got some fan header splitters and a 9pin USB hub coming tomorrow from Amazon so I will be able to finally have it up and running on Friday night.
