Those CU numbers would be super nuts, especially given that it seems their entire strategy is based around smaller dies with fantastic yields (at least on the CPU side). I doubt these are true.

Considering that the media companies in question, Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, etc., are already trying to censor the internet to prevent the spread or communication of ideology opposite that of the people comprising these companies.... I'm calling horse shit on this article.

"alleged but unproven bias" my fucking ass. You can go and see people on Twitter saying blatantly racist things about white people, but a republican posts video of leftist people protesting outside his house and making threats gets taken down?

Fuck that and fuck manners. The left are already trying to censor the internet and the news via their control of large tech companies. They already largely control our major educational facilities. How far are we gonna let this go? Sooner or later it's going to come to bloody conflict.

I'd prefer that not happen. I'd prefer harsh punishments for any organization that is blatantly suppressing the views of their opposition. Up to and including life in prison, for being an enemy of the state. Which I define as anyone trying to subvert or destroy democracy (representative republic, what the fuck ever you want to call it. People have a fucking right to disagree with the state. Anyone attempting to prevent that should be locked up and the key destroyed, as a warning).
Political parties should be illegal, entirely. Either run for office on your own two feet, or fuck off. No paid help, no "volunteers" just you.

Whats wrong with a bit of variety in the videos, I mean JayzTwoCents also does the occasional video on cars and tbh I also enjoy something different to the usual stuff he uploads.

Being a fellow Tech Tuber going to have to help you understand.  Our passion is technology, we love innovation and we want to share it with people.  Sure, a different crowd/audience watches those videos, but Linus doesn't just do videos for pure views.  He's a 30ish year old guy who loves tech and sharing it with people.

    It's a simple solution.

"You don't get to install something on my device, that's my property. If you want me to carry a device that enables me to work, that you can install things on, then you need to provide that device. End of story. No exceptions."

If your company is unwilling to accept that, they aren't worth working for. Start looking now.

‘Anonymous’ data might not be so anonymous, study shows
Anyone can be re-identified from ‘anonymous data’, researchers claim & let you test it

You can use the researchers' site to gauge your identifiability from only the most basic of your details here: https://cpg.doc.ic.ac.uk/individual-risk/

The site currently only offers testing for the UK and US, but it's worth entering fake details on the main page test even if you don't live in the UK or US because only after entering details does the site go to a page where they explain things a bit more.

Though I don't live in the US, I entered details using a US location and I received these results:

There's a 2nd test on the site (have to do the first one to get to it) that adds a few more details, which makes the identification rate go up to over 99%.

It could be that GDPR and similar rule such as California's that takes effect January 2020 are not sufficient to ensure data privacy, and that a re-evaluation of the entire problem may need to be done as more studies shown how flawed and ineffectual basic privacy rules really are. I already think GDPR and California's upcoming rules don't go nearly far enough.

MarvinKMooney reacted to Zeroxsamusaran in The grave injustice I've suffered
Hello, my name is Austin, and for the past 5 years (maybe more, I've been subbed for a while) I have greatly enjoyed the content LTT has provided. From the rebirth of Quick Bits to Channel Super Fun, I have been apart of the community (minus the fact that I rarely comment, or interact with anyone, or have only watched maybe 5 or so livestreams when they were currently being streamed. Ignore those glaring issues.)
But today fellow epic gamers and tech enthusiasts and Eric who I met at the bar last week (really cool guy) I must bring to your attention and to the attention of Linus himself that I have suffered a grave injustice.

My fellow men and women (and possibly anthropomorphic friends,) I bring to you the unfortunate news that approximately 2 days ago from making this post, my comment was stolen.

Now now now, I know how this must make you all feel. Anger, rage, confusion, possibly a sudden urge to go buy 30 crates of eggs because your looking to get fit and they're a great source of protein. I understand all those feelings but let me explain what happened exactly.

So there I was, keyboard in my left hand, mouse in my right, headset on and epic gamer mode initiated. And suddenly I see a video on my sub feed; "Red's Overpriced Mini Mag Cards - The Real Story." And on that very same video what did I see? Well, obviously the product in question but beside me on the very desk I am sitting at now, the same one in which I watched the video, sat a red PS2 memory card that I had received some years back. Suddenly the comparison was made. Both small, thin rectangular objects. Then an idea! Finally I could prove to the community that I was a productive member of society by posting a comment on a youtube video that I watched once and will probably never revisit as I see no reason to. But that, fellow gamers is where I was wrong.

Just two days prior I had hit gold. One comment, 3 thousand likes. The dopamine shooting in my brain could have powered a whale back to life from the brink of death. I was elated. Finally I had gotten the recognition I deserved by posting "first." It was a good day as you could imagine. And so to myself I thought "hmm, that red PS2 comment I made might be a great one! It could possibly bring me even more likes!" And at that time I may add I hadn't the slightest thought that the channel itself would heart the comment. No, I am well aware of my place in the community. You are all wonderful, fantastic people who post witty comments and I am but a lowly level 20 farmer on Farmville. Even then there was hope that I would get some recognition, some kind of praise, some signal that there was someone else out there that appreciated the history of the PS2.

And what did I see upon arriving to the channel, just 2 comments below mine? Well, the picture below is what I saw. Just an hour after someone had taken my exact comment and posted it in the comments. Not only has this terrible individual stole the words from my keyboard, he stole the one thing that I treasure most.

Yes ladies and gentlemen, he got the heart react.

I was furious, blinded by rage (or possibly the lemon juice that was currently burning my eyes as I did not want to see the horror before me) and most importantly I was broken. All my hard years of dedication, the SECONDS I spent typing the comment, all gone to waste  All for someone else to ride on by and steal it.

And what did he have to say?
"It's not when you comment it's how you comment."

Fellow gamers, I need your help. I request that we bring this to the attention of Linus Tech Tips and ask them, beg them even, to turn over the heart react to its rightful owner. I am a single father of 36 squirrels and suffer from random bouts of depression and the dopamine that would have given me would have enabled me to possibly own a 37th squirrel. I would have named him Carl...

Please I beg of you Linus Tech Tips, overturn the heart react and set things straight. Let us all come together in this time of need and show how positive of an impact we can all have if we just work together.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful day.

What's the point of delete function then? That's straight up deception. So, easiest way to get scott free from any responsibility is to shuffle the data to a "contractor" and you lose any obligation to the user data since it has been already "handed over". That's just straight up BS.

I guess some of you guys haven't actually seen the results of bullying.  Whether you like it or not, Facebook and Instagram are core parts of society in younger generations now.  Turning those off is as socially isolating as being a spastic in a wheel chair.   Given cyber bullying has resulted in suicide, because the target does not always know the perpetrator, but the perpetrator has explicit knowledge of the victim (a very harrowing experience for the victim if you've ever seen it).

I'm all for this, it just reminds you the consequences of your actions without actually stopping you.    Bullies will be bullies, the internet has provided a way for them to be damaging (because it's not just words) and hide behind anonymity.  That need s to be addressed.

That’s a lie as bullying has existed way before the internet has. It’s easy to dismiss something non physical but it’s just as real as in person. If anything the weakness is from the bully and some insecurities or parental issues

That wasn't what I was trying to say, you seem to think that there's only one comment, or one guy (definitely not these kinds of comments though), but it's different when a lot of people are against you, and at some point it starts to hurt people, i've seen it happen and it's sad

Any streamer who uses this feature is not very smart tbh. Its more likely to drive away viewers and bar people from seeing their stream that have never seen them before. Nobody is going to subscribe just to see if a streamer is good so basically they are shooting themselves in the foot and ensuring that their viewership never increases.
