The 3080 does have a memory temp sensor due to it being common on gddr6x.
 
Now that said my 3080 can run at +1500 memory without errors when on water... my temps still hit 88c-90c. If I run my memory at +1000 then those temps are 80-84c. Which makes me a little nervous, but apparently anything under 95c is pretty safe. Now cards that are on air constantly throttle due to 110c or higher temps. 
 
Now I just need a water cooled backplate to help memory temps further.
 
Oh and since we are talking settings and hash rates. My 3080 runs at 68% plimit, -250 core, and since the difference isn't worth thr risk +1000 on memory for about 105 average MHs. At 1500 it will land around 110, but I would prefer seeing memory at 80-82c

Don’t see any setting killing something. 
 
Pointless to use settings that don’t directly effect the hash rate.  
So if you’re testing shows it working, then keep doing it.

Well it's not really your fault if that jumper was missing. 

if it's for gaming, i'd suggest getting a good headset,
if it's for music i'd suggest getting a proper pair of speakers for music

There we go. Its working fine now! The solution to my problem or rather what I did: 
>Clear the cmos
>Reseat the RAM like 50 000 times, until you get to the bios
>Set the voltage offset to 50mV and DRAM voltage to 1.35
Post, got into windows.
Added second stick, loaded XMP profile.
 
Working now.

And I almost gave up on the pc!

Trust me on this.  Doing the right thing for yourself hurts a lot less than getting scammed by someone selling off defective hardware without clearly labeling it, and then you having to sit there and rationalize or mental health management the purchase for months...it really sucks. 
 
Should have been labeled "as is, not working or for parts."
When you get a properly working system it will be worth it.  It's only time.

Hello, what are your other specs, CPU, amount of RAM? The 580 is still a great gpu.

Which if you look closely has similar looks cables hanging off of it. From what I can read, one says 'SPDIF' and the other reads 'GND' (Ground).
What these might be are tiny connectors to connect to your motherboard/soundcard (?) to get SPDIF audio into the videocard (and possibly 'insert' it into the HDMI for example). But that is just some guessing that I am doing now.

But to be fair, just upgrade the motherboard and ram along with the cpu to a newer socket, if you have the money for it.
You can still sell your motherboard and cpu for a decent price. That might not be the case soon.

I only read positive feedback on zalman, and the psu itself had good reviews too, didnt know it was fake. I see then, thats surely the problem, since the cx 600 handles it well. Thanks for the info

Hello, I am building a pc, the specs are
12GB DDR3 1600MHZ (1x8GB 1600MHz 1x4GB 1600MHz)
Intel Xeon E3-1220
AMD Radeon R9 270X 2GB
Zalman ZM500-GS (500W) (Replaced, before there was a Whitenergy 400w which i tested it on as well) (The psu has 2x PCIe 6 and 8pin)
(SSD and an hdd)

When I put the R9 into this system, it wont boot. It doesnt display, and after some time, if i click the power button, it immedately shuts down, which means it didnt get past post.
When I put an R7 260X ive got spare into it (even with the 400w we psu), it normally boots.
When I used the R9 in my main pc (CX600, instead of my rtx 2070, using i7 4770k), it displays fine.

What is the problem? Psu calc recommended 450W PSU.
I thought it was the awful Whitenergy psu, but turns out its not.
I will be selling this pc, so I dont want to invest a ton of money into a new 600W psu. Can you please help me figure out what the problem is?

The R9 requires 2x6pin, and i plugged in just that. The GPU is properly seated in the pci slot.
