    I got a WU of project 14271 today, and it's producing about 1.500.000 PPD (Points per day) on my Vega. I've never seen points that high with any other work unit before, that's what I meant.

    Speaking of good Workunits for AMD:
    I got a 14271 for the first time today, seems pretty OP for my underclocked and undervolted Vega 64

    If you want to go as cheap as possible I'd try first to keep the current motherboard and RAM.
    With themost current BIOS this does support the 3700X and with the much improved memory controller of 3rd Gen Ryzen your RAM will most likely work  just fine as well. First gen Ryzen was notoriously picky with RAM so no surprise that you could not get it to run 3200 MT/s but that's much better now.

    For cooling I can recommend something like the bequiet Dark Rock 4, at least here  that a good bit cheaper that the Noctuas and cools my 3900X just fine so won't have trouble with the 3700X either

    Ratisbona reacted to SkaterDudeBro41 in Quadrupling the the price for LTT on Float plane. just to start!!!!
    I'm going to apologize for the following effortpost in advance. tl;dr at bottom.
    I'll have to be honest here and say that I don't get the pushback from raising the rate to $5. Splitting the LMG videos into three separate Floatplane subscriptions, yeah I'm not a fan of that, but I'll get into that in a few.

    The way I see it, is that $5/mo brings it up to the same as a Twitch subscription. Neither a Twitch nor Floatplane sub will offer even a fraction as much as paying for Netflix, but I don't think either is trying to compete with them to begin with.

    An FP sub gets you:
    non-time-sensitive videos a week early Sponsorship-free videos Higher bitrate Video download FP exclusive behind-the-scenes videos All of those are nice-to-have's, but regardless if you pay or don't, you get access to all the main content. The FP exclusive videos are just unscripted iphone-shot videos that come out about once a month.

    I hate being the guy that dismisses criticism with "if you don't like it, don't pay for it". I really do think this is more of a supporter donation, since nothing important is being withheld. Regarding that hypothetical "kid that can't afford that every month": they're really not missing anything good by just sticking to youtube. Participating in the forums will probably net you more behind-the-scenes content than the FP exclusives would anyways.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Now, regarding splitting the FP Creators into LTT, TechLinked, and Techquickie? I think it's justified from the standpoint that, yeah, they each do output enough videos to justify being separate. Heck, they're entirely different Youtube channels for that same reason.
    What I personally don't like is that there the little benefits I get with my LTT sub aren't as enticing for either of those channels.
    TechLinked videos aren't released early, they don't do FP exclusives, and (IMO since it's mostly just the caster speaking and news article snippets) don't really benefit from the bitrate bump IMO.
    Techquickie also doesn't do FP exclusives and is probably the least...... interesting channel for die-hard fans. Not to disrespect the work that goes into the videos or imply that there's anything wrong. However, I feel that the target audience for Techquickie videos are often as reference material for people who search something like "Why have CRT tvs died off".
    Linus has stated he doing this because he wants to "...ensure that LMG doesn't create an unrealistic bar for other creators on Floatplane to meet". Which, I guess fair enough, even though LTT alone will still massively outpace many other creators. Regardless, I feel like most current FP supporters won't opt for a Techquickie or TechLinked sub.
    tl;dr
    No starving child that has to mow 50 lawns to earn a buck will be missing out on LTT content, regardless of FP pricing I don't think splitting up LMG FP videos into three different services makes much sense from the subscriber's side, unless they're just being generous
    Ratisbona got a reaction from Boinbo in I need comments on a possible build of mine.
    I didn't say it was better, what I meant was it's usually better for gaming performance to allocate more budget towards the graphics card and less to the Mainboard than you did in your partpicker list. As such a B450-board is better value (not "better performance") than your x470. Vexicus recommended an eaven cheaper one, have a look if that fullfills all your needs. If you really need more USB3.0-Headers (or even 3.1 Type C) for you'll still need a better equipped x470-board.
    A SSD can use either a SATA 3-Port or a M.2-Slot. Both will be present on pretty much all AM4 Boards so you shouldn't have to worry about it too much. Do you know what modell you have?
    Same here, I have the x570 Taichi, which has quite an annoying sounding fan on the Chipset. But I simply changed the fan curve to only ramp up when it hits about 80°, and I've never heard it since. In normal use the temps sit around 60° under gaming up to 70, but absolutely not meling the board.
    Ok to bring this back to topic:
    One of the most commonly used tools for this is "HandBrake". You'll find lots of tutorials for this on Youtube. It's got a lot of options to play around with, this should fit your needs.
    My guess would be your SSD is too full to run the sequential test. That's why it can't complete. The Sequ-test can use up to 100GB on a fast drive like yours
    The Intel drive is using cheaper and worse memory technology, that's why it's cheaper, but also not as good as Samsungs drive.
    I think an easier explanation would be to look a how many possiblilites you have for winning field combinations, knowing that green is not a winning field.
    Given the cinstraint that the two winning fields have to be next to each other you have four options:
    Winning fields could be blue/purple, purple/red, red/orange or orange/yellow. As you are determined to only be allowed to shift to yellow, you'll have a one in four chance of that being in the winning combination.
    Spinning again gives you a two in six or one in three chance, which should hence be the option of choice.
