I can quite easily create shared folders on the server that can be seen easily from my desktop machine but just not the other way around.

Unable to connect at all using the IP address I got using ipconfig. I cant even connect to the folder that is working using the IP only by using the server name

Ok thanks for the clarification. I get a "*** dns.google can't find MEDIA: Non-existent domain" message back when running the command.

Does nslookup work for local IP's? For example if my shared folder should be able to be accessed by "\\Media\Photos" Would i try nslookup \\Media\Photos?

Hi there as the title says I cant access shared network folders. I have 3 computers on my network, one Work Desktop one Work Laptop and a media PC for storage. I have setup a shared folder on the media PC and I have no issue connecting to it from my Work Desktop, however the laptop is not able to access it at all. I also tried sharing a folder from the Work Desktop but it cant be accessed by any of the other devices on the network. Here is what I have tried so far. - Ensure the permissions are set to Everyone - Enable SMB file sharing on all machines - Ensure all computers are on the same network - Ensure folder paths are correctly written - Set network types to private - Enable File and printer sharing + network discovery on all computers The server is running Windows 11 and the others windows 10. All the computers are connected to my router through ethernet cables. I cant understand why one folder is working sharing to one other PC and all the others do not have access? Is there something I missed?

I dont plan on setting up my drives in RAID for redundancy. This system is just for hosting my media that I already have copies of. I just want a low power solution to host it all. I am looking into solutions now. Redundancy is not a priority at all for me at the moment!

Already have ram sticks lying around at home which is why they are missing. Will look at the prices on the day of purchase and see what the ssd's are looking like! Havnt made my mind up yet on which solution I will go for doing my reserach into these two at the moment!

For the SSD I was thinking of having it as a stashing system, to speed up transfers and access to my daily security footage before its moved to slower storage. It was the cheapest 8TB drive i could find on PC Part picker. Wanted to go overkill to begin with as the case only has space for 3 such drives I dont want to waste any space on low capacity drives that will need to be replaced one day.

Yeah I gave it a shot but PC Part picker uses American sites to find stuff and a lot of the items are only on amazon.fr

Thanks for the clarification! I was thinking the graphics cores from the 4600G could be useful but i couldnt find an answer thanks for giving one! The intel processor is a bit more expensive but still well within my budget thanks!

As the title says I am looking into creating a plex server for streaming my media. It will primarily serve our devices at home usually 3 devices at a time but I would like to try and access it remotely on occassion as well. I have been looking at a Ryzen 4600G as its a pretty good price at the moment with low power draw. I am wondering if it will be sufficient to encode video for when streaming remotely?

Problem solved it seems. Reseating the key cap solved the issue. Must have been a bit of dust or something not sure why it was only effecting the one shift key though!
