  1. Q-tips or cotton balls work to clean thermal paste, hell you could even use a sock (I wouldn't want to keep it), but cotton seems like it would just leave fibers behind. It doesn't seem like thermal paste and cotton mix well.
  2. I first started using cotton swabs to clean thermal paste years ago, which isn't a great idea because it leaves a lot of cotton fibers behind.
  3. Except hand sanitizer uses ethyl alcohol, and also contains additional stuff like water, fragrance, and glycerin. The isopropyl percentage remainder is just water, meaning it will take longer to dry. You can use 90% isopropyl or 50% isopropyl alcohol if you're brave. Coffee filters are better than cotton swabs or paper towels to clean thermal paste because they leave less fibers behind.
  4. I hate to break it to you, but my Ryzen 5 3600 also idles around 40C and 73C under full load with an DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 400 and Arctic MX-4 paste.

What about bird poop and thieves?
  7. CPU fan push or pull is about the same. It doesn't make a big difference in temps.
  8. The fan might hit the 1st RAM slot. You could always swap the fan from push to pull, or invest extra money into an AIO watercooler. I have a DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 400. It's whisper quiet and idles at 40C.

    Upgrading to Ryzen 5 3600

PC games are more GPU bound than CPU bound. I doubt that his games will get much higher FPS. He will notice a difference in single and multi-core performance though.

    Upgrading to Ryzen 5 3600

It sounds like you already bought a Ryzen 5 3600, but to answer your questions, the Wraith Stealth is just a small aluminum block with a fan. Get an aftermarket cooler for better temps. I doubt you will notice a huge difference in gaming coming from a Ryzen 5 1500x with that GPU, unless your games were at 100% CPU usage. The Ryzen 5 3600 max boost is already at 4.2 Ghz.
